1. I'm another one who favours hand tools over all, cheaper and more reliable.
I've been practising with the surform and spokeshave as I plan to hand carve my next bass.

Provided you have a quality chisel and know how to sharpen it properly it's much easier IMO than fannying about with templates.

To whoever said a router was the most dangerous power tool about, I raise you an angle grinder.
I had a really lucky escape, I was helping a mate with his block paving and about half the time I wore trainers, luckily the day it jumped back I'd put my steelies on and saved chopping my foot in half, just.
I've now upgraded to steelies and a set of safety glasses.

2. I had a similar problem with my badass II.
I managed to just about grasp most of the screws with a set of pliers, but in the end I had to drill out the top on of the E string saddle.
Bridge screws are deceptively hard to drill through, went through a couple of quality bits and had a lot of swearing.

3. I used metal polish myself, the tcut stuff, luckily mine wasn't too far gone. My god does it leave a smell on your hands though, and give you a monster headache.
If it was really f***ed i'd use wet/dry sanding up to a high grade to get a mirror finish on it.

4. Not scared at all I've got this "give me an instrument and i'll get a tune out of it" attitude, love playing all kinds of stuff.
Anyway, not tried a fretless, not had a chance. Would love to though, debating a squier VM fretless as my next bass, although at the same time i'm debating a stagg EUB...

Must resist...
Always satisfying getting my nectar card statement through. I tried for Padowan but settled for Reverend.

6.
When I was a lad I used to frequently end up with a sore index finger so would move to middle + ring finger to play. Nowhere near as fast but at least I was no longer in pain
I've heard sitting with your finger in warm moist places can cause that.

I use my thumb and first 3 fingers, so losing one wouldn't be the end.

7. Offered a 1970's precision for £300, it belonged to one of my great uncles who'd had it since new, it'd been sat in an attic for years and he wanted shot of it.
I was about 13, I had a stockpile of paper round money and could just about afford it. I had no idea how much it was worth at the time, kicking myself.

I regret selling my thunderbird, I got a crap price and I got under 2 nights out on the proceeds.
