Black Gotoh bridge and tuners on the way to me also, for the SB1000JT conversion....
-
Just arrived from Japan 30 mins ago....
Beautiful grain, super fast delivery and an unbeatable price!!
I bought it direct from Japan and had it shipped here, all at less than half the UK retail price even after customs charges. I picked the one I wanted from their warehouse with the nicest grain pattern I could find.
It plays beautifully, albeit acoustically only at the moment as I'm in the office. It's a lot lighter than my 1984 SB1000 and the tapered neck is a nice change.

Does anyone know the difference between SB1000RI - SB1000RIB - SB1000B ??
To me, they all look the same. -
Anyone had any experience of one of these amps at all?
-
-
really? I'll double check, i thought that bridged mode was the only option if you have 1 non-gk cab. cheers.

Not had a problem with mine running bridged.
Have you tried it in dual mono to see if one of the power amps is at fault?
I only have one cab so I can only run it bridged I believe.

Is this all the time or just one location? Reason I ask is I run my SM1500 in bridge-mono like you and some venues power supply doesn't seem to keep pace with the amp.
It happened twice this weekend in different venues that I've played before with no issues. -
Anyone had a problem with theirs?
I'm getting the flashing amber light of the protection circuit when I crank past 5 on master vol (woofer vol).
I run it in bridged mode, the fan is working properly so its not overheating (I hope), so it's possibly a power issue? The speakon cable is fine, I dont think there's an issue with my cab either.

It does a bit doesn't it... there's no mention on the US or JP Aria site of it anywhere, Google doesn't turn anything up either.

So they are stacked pots.
-
Here's the best I can get of the pots.

Thanks for all the info Carl, and thanks Pete too! Yes Gary, I think it was you I bought the bass from!
I get a huge variation in tone when I flick the switch, it brings the bass to life. I'll double check the impact at full left on the varitone tomorrow evening for dead sure, I usually run with one of the middle settings, 3 or 4.
I'll get some more pics with the loom out of the way tomorrow too!

my 'spare' looks a lot like an original from the pics on the ebay link above...
-
I think that this one in my bass could be one of these...

This is the one inside the bass at the moment...
note: this has NOISEKILLER V1.3 printed on the PCB
and here's the switch:

By the way its a 1977-80 Batwing era, series 1 SB10000.

That was so this year....

If I recall correctly, yes the serial number is on the back of the headstock
Ah ok, does it have the batwing or book headstock? The batwings (series 1) didn't have recessed jacks, and they had slightly different circuitry I beleive... -
Thanks Dave! Just received the Kubicki that enabled you to buy Karl's Limelight!
Pleasure to deal with and a top bloke!
Cheers
Steve -
I'll do some careful dismantling and photography tonight to see if that gives us any more clues...
-
This may be a clue to the circuitry? I've never seen the LED actually light up...
-
If it doesn't have the recessed socket, the chances are it's post-Matsumoku era. Does it have a serial on the reverse of the headtsock?
-
Ever seen this before?
New bass porn from Aria Japan according to John Taylor's instagram feed.

This is where I and a friend have bought them from. Excellent customer service, fast turnaround, cannot fault them. Oh, and over a grand cheaper than buying retail in the UK
