1. Trace Elliot has always been my holy grail of tone. Love my GP12SMX 1x15 combo. Kicks an immense amount of arse! punch and growl in spades and 580w to play with. Sure they are heavy, but thats not a deal breaker to me. I always find it curious that it is said they have been left behind or bettered tonally, a product of the 80's if you will, I'm only 28 and Trace has always been THE tone. Over and above the Ashdowns, Markbass, Ampegs I've played through. :)

Edit - have to add I never use the graphic preset, it sounds awful. Just manual control of the graphic eq.

2. Hi guys. Quick question :)
Just starting to home record into an alesis io2. Been getting some nice tones out of my Jazz bass direct. now thinking of using my Ashdown EB180's xlr out and taking advantage of the preamp. Will using the Ashdown colour my sound in any way other than what I choose with eq? Sorry if I make no sense, just new to the whole home recording thing! Thanks!

3. Don't dismiss the current MIM's.Quality is probably the best its ever been. My 2011 Jazz (candy Apple red and maple) is built and finished to a very high standard and features the 09-12 series pickups. Which are very very good, very hot and snappy. Funk machine!

4. I have owned a 2011 Mex Jazz bass for 6 months now and I have to say, it has really exceeded my expectations. The overall fit and finish is of an extremely high standard from the neck, to the body and components. It also is very lightweight, which suprised the hell out of me. Also the newer 2009 upgrade pickups, imo, have quite a hot sound for passive pickups and it certainly has a good wallop of growl and clarity. I wasn't expecting much to be honest when i ordered it blind from 'guitar guitar', but it really has suprised me quite a bit. The neck even has some nice flaming on the maple too :) It also sounds more 'jazz' like than the Geddy Lee I once owned curiosly enough.

The guitarist in my bands 2010 mexi strat is also finished to a very impressive standard.

Big thumbs up from me on the current mexico standards :)

I'm selling my immaculate Ray34

Natural finish (the more expensive ones)with black scratchplate, 4- string. 3-Band active eq.

Never gigged or smoked around.

No chips, dings or marks of any kind. Plays really well and has just been strung up with brand new GHS Flea's. Comes with original softcase (also as new) and Sterling by Musicman stickers AND the truss rod key. I also will put a new 9v battery in.

Big fat, punchy, cutting hi-fi Stingray sound

Cost me £600 a year ago.

the only minor downside is the input jack is a *little* loose. This is an easy 2 minute tighten up job, i just never got round to it as quite frankly i'm too lazy :)

Looking for £400

Collection only from Chipping Norton please. Bring an amp too as I am currently amp-less.

Thanks for looking!

6. I own a natural finished SBMM Ray 34 i would say the sound, look and feel is spot on. I a/b'ed against a couple of real Ray's when i was looking to buy a ray type bass and there was minimal difference IMO. The quality of it is fairly impressive too, the standard of the Ash grain is better than a fair few real EBMM Ray naturals ive seen too.
Go for it! they are great basses.

7. I can't recommend the Geddy Lee highly enough. The one i had was faultless (damn you circumstance!) Fit and finish was excellent. The pickups were quiet and really old school sounding with that big fat punchy growl. I never had any issues with the neck on it in the year i owned it either. It stayed in tune probably better than any bass ive ever owned too!
I'd have another in an instant (funds permitting!) :)

i thought your comment about robbing sales quite rightly was very true and amusing! .That is all. . .

9.
There's a review in the reviews section. Yes, these are excellent basses and they're going to do the same as the SUB range did, which is rob sales from the parent brand. And quite rightly so :)
Hahahaha!
