1. I got to talking music with a chap (Joe Jeffery) who regularly walked his dog (Dexter) past our work site...

Turns out he's a Blackstar Artist and Auden guitar endorser, currently playing guitar with Beau Holland.

Thanks G. I actually prefer people to post the URLs as I can't view embeded YouTube on my Kindle Fire HDX, which is a major pain in the ar$e for me, especially on threads that are YouTube content heavy. If I'd known the Kindle didn't support flash, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

No problem, I'm still PC only (didn't consider phones, tablets etc)... you need to lose those ' http:// ' entries to get there...

3. With many and myriad mics available at low cost - it seems hard to find audio clips to get an idea of sound quality...

I have been praising my RV15 (Sylvania valve) on the forum here for a while now, so i thought I'd share a recording to hopefully back up my enthusiasm and hear the mic in use... :)

Ooh yes, this is a good tip.
I find that it's not so much the key to the song I need, just the note that my part starts on. Once I've played that first note I'm away.
So I try to associate the first note with something about the song and keep that in my head.

It was quite easy with these:
'Bohemian Like You' - starts on B for Bohemian
'Gigantic' - starts on G for 'Gigantic'

Had more difficulty with Car by Gary Numan - starts on D, so I had to think of D for Daimler.
Likewise Hey Joe - couldn't think of a way to remember that it starts on C. Until our guitarist suggested 'Hey Joe - you chump!'
I never forget that now

Good system :) - Hey Joe starts with an A riff though... A,D,B - A,D,B - A,B ( sorry for the pedantry )

5. There are some great rigs here! I'll throw some budget gear into the pot...

My bitza Strat - The guitar is made from a budget Tanglewood strat body, cheapie Wesley maple neck, GFS Mean 90 bridge and neck pickups with GFS lipstick in the middle... upgrade electrics and Wikinson hardware.

The amp is a Super Champ X2... together they sound like this https://soundcloud.com/mick-hastings/p90-pickup-demo

6. Ok,clip sorted.. linkage > https://soundcloud.c...p90-pickup-demo

The sloppy pentatonic wibble is the neck p/u - the rhythm power chords are the bridge... backing track kindly supplied here > http://www.youtube.c...4?feature=watch

Soundwise - very stratty still, but louder, fatter and a bit darker with an extra sting that responds to pick dynamics - I get a lot of fun from it. :D
