Never stand right in front of your room filling rig!

I was doing a pub gig and all over a sudden my sound goes to hell in a hand basket. Turn around and the sax player has parked himself where you are standing.

Possibly not applicable to your gig if the PA is putting forth bass, but that's a mighty big monitor.

It was a proper luxury having that much room to play in, often some of the pub gigs we do my backside is literally touching my cab and I don’t get to here very much, do tend to feel it though🙃🤓

I thought i saw the big Aggie atop your cab but wasn't sure what else you had going on.

    Bet that sounds nice.

I love it, as I get older though it is becoming a struggle to manhandle it, I also use a Tech 21 Leeds pedal on some Who tracks we cover - that really sounds epic to my ears, and you know it’s sounding good when the rhythm guitarist turns and looks with an approving nod👍🏻

  3. I think this is a first for me, I somehow seemed to have missed this thread? We were out celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Waltham Chase Trials Motorcycle Club - a gig I landed by chance whilst talking to someone at a corporate do in Bournemouth.  A great night had by all, bonus was they fed and watered us as well😊

Used these since the late 70's - just the right amount of 'give' and a certain brightness that I don't get with others I've tried

When I learned I always used a pick and these were the ones I preferred, now I 've played fingerstyle for so long that, having joined a classic rock covers band, I'm trying to re-learn how to use a pick - bloody hard getting up to speed again!?  I can comfortably play 16ths with fingers but really finding it a struggle with a pick..... Practice, practice, practice I guess.

  5. Had the pleasure of meeting Dave and his good lady over the weekend in order to trade a MM Sterling for a lovely Sadowsky UV70 - an absolute pleasure and really nice to put a face to a name I’ve had many dealings with,  even the dogs made us feel welcome😊

     Cheers again Dave

He may as well be playing a cardboard cut out, I can barely hear any bass at all

I’m listening on a Sonos Beam and plenty of bass in the mix for me👍🏻

intrigued by what that black thing is on the top front of the bass cab though? some kind of mic?

  7. I can relate to this, I started playing bass around 30 years ago, my first bass was a Vox Standard P type bass, I found that it was somewhat limited tonally and soon yearned for a Jazz Bass as one of my mates had one, and I thought it sounded just so cool.  I bought my first Jazz in '92, it was a USA Jazz Plus V and I loved it and gigged it solidly for around 12 years or so, that's when I started to buy a few nice basses as surplus money was a little easier - I bought among other things a US P Bass that had a Dimarzio pick up fitted, that's when I first really appreciated a P.  Now I've got a superb Sonic Blue AVRI '63 P Bass that is just lovely to play, sits well in the mix and is also nice and light weight.

I still like to mix it up when gigging and I do feel lucky to have a number of nice basses to choose from🙂

Looks like a variation on the 'World Tour' finish.

Do people really part with their hard earned moolah for that?  I’m a fan of a natural relic, anyone that’s seen my Oly White ‘69 Jazz Bass will know how much I love it - but this just seems way over the top and completely unnatural?

     Not for me I’m afraid.

  9. Uncle Jack have been a busy gigging band for 15yrs across Wilts Dorset and Hampshire. Sadly due to illness we are now looking for a lead singer. Covering songs across a diverse range of genres and decades from  the Clash to the Monkeys to RHCP to the Stones ( even a bit of ABBA !!) A full diary for 2020 when gigs start up again ( usually2 per month). Band members in 40-60 age range. Stable Line up is bass drums lead rhythm and vocs. If this is the sort of thing you are looking for call Dave on 07941947327.
