  1. So I am quitting my current band & also quitting playing double bass too.
I guess I've got bored with the whole Rockabilly Country thing so have moved on to something completely different.
My new band, which is a Black Sabbath tribute band, has no place for a DB & I am really enjoying playing much more challenging bass lines on BG.
Currently I only have cheapo bass guitars & need to raise cash for something nice,so keep your eyes on the for sale section for a very nice Duke Bass appearing soon.

  2. I'm soon moving to pastures new so my current band will be needing a replacement upright bass player.
The band play country,Rockabilly, classic covers & original material too with a fairly busy gig diary.
    Checkout www.thedoghousedoctors.com
    They are Harrogate bassed.
If anyone is interested please pm me.
    Cheers

I'm not surprised you're happy with your BB2, but let's not forget the role of your Fusion in all this - that is one hell of an amp! :)

Lol yes indeed it is,I'd go so far to say that it is the best amplifier I have owned to date.
Anyone who thinks class D amps lack heft clearly haven't tried one of these little beauties.

  4. I use a BB2 in two bands.
One playing upright bass in a Rockabilly band & also playing an active 5 string bass guitar in a Black Sabbath tribute band.
My amplifier is GK MB Fusion 800.
I couldn't be happier with it,both bands were equally impressed & amazed with how good it sounds,it has all the volume I've ever needed too.
Previously I was using a Genz Benz 212 cab & have to say the BB2 is way better in every respect, safe to say I love it.

  5. They sent me a second hand "new" bass recently & were not particularly helpful in sorting it out,we got there in the end but it left a sour taste.
I don't think I'll be using them again.

Hi Artisan, can you characterise the difference in tone, tension and general playability between the Golden Slaps and Weichs? Are they entirely different animals? I have Golden Slaps on at the moment and curious about pros and cons of the Weichs in comparison. Thanks

hi,they are totally different to the slaps, they are a fair bit higher tension although very easy to play having a beautiful smooth finish.
sound wise i fine the slaps give a great punch but that's about it (although that fits my bands sound) where as the evahs are much more musical & richer sounding with loads more sustain, perfect for pizz but not really my ideal slap string.Having said that i didn't slap the evahs hard at all just pizz with a palm slap.
if you are just playing old school rockabiily/country the slaps are ideal but i would say the evah's are much better for jazz or general pizz.

looks like i've sold these now but i hope the info' helps.

  7. I odered these new from "the string zone" on 16th October & fitted them to my bass the following week, took them off last Monday,so they were only on my bass for six weeks or so.
They are in excellent condition as I have always wiped them over after every play & haven't trimmed them down or anything silly.
They come in the original packets they came to me in,4 separate paper bags but no outer sleeve.

I thought I'd try to get a little more "jazzy" but that didn't work out for me,so it's back on with my Golden Slaps.

    SOLD
    cheers

  8. Thanks guys I'll send them an email in the morning.

Just been playing the bass for a couple of hours & I just can't get over what a nice bass it is.
I've had some pretty expensive basses ( roscoe century) & this isn't a million miles away.
    Sounds damn fine too.
    Maybe I need a BB425X too :)

  9. My replacement bass arrived this morning :)
Brand new in a sealed yamaha box & I have to say that I'm really impressed with it so far.
Looking forward to plugging it in once I get home from work.

I'm still £20 out of pocket for my original Saturday morning delivery that I paid extra for the first bass I received, guess I've lost that.

Have you got a time-frame for when you will be getting your replacement bass?
    [/quote]
They said 7 to 10 days.
I have to say they definitely have a "couldn't give a toss" attitude,I don't think I'd use them again.
