  1. I was going to say Q4 Pro like mine, but these have a flat back body, so I'd go wuth Korean Legend too.

Those late 90s, early noughties Korean Spectors are superb, the finish is fantastic, they play so easily and a pallete of tones.

    I know I shouldn't but being a generous old fool I've £50 for it😉

IIRC this isn't the Affinity model.  I don't think I've ever owned one.

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the quality of this. I don't remember any issues with how this played...in fact it came with a nice low action.

I would have this back if I didn't have too many basses already.

As far as I know, if no Affinity decal on head stock, it would of come with a bass starter pack, but same bass😎

    Closed tuners, thin body.

  3. If you have any car body repair shops local take the bass in and ask if they can run a paint depth gauge over it.....

Explain why you want to do it, and I'm sure it will make a pleasant change for guys and be happy to oblige, buy some charity sweets on the way out...they may even run some 3M on it and hit it with a close form mop for you, out of curiosity.

PS....do this first thing in the morning, I've dealt with painters for four decades now, they are almost normal before 10:30am😎

I think it's more down to the demographics of this place.

Also, pub cover bands would tend to be older people and thats what most bands on BC would be i think.

I play in an originals band and we are definitely oldies in the scene. Youngins thriving on the original scene here.

Again, good to hear😎...especially as I'll be thinning the heard again 😉

I co-host a weekly jam night, and there's many more younger bassists than older ones; in fact there's only two of us gimmers there regularly, everyone else is under 30...  I also go and see a decent amount of small bands (I'd soooo much rather see a band I've never heard of in a small club for a tenner than go to a horrible-sounding enormodome to watch some bigger names), and the vast majority of bassists there are kids*...

    That's great news Muzz😎

  6. Because it seems the bass players I interact with, be it on here, doing a bit of business with, see playing live, chat with seem to be 'of an age' 😊with not a lot of new blood coming along.

Not to say there isn't/aren't any fresh faces, but, well you know.

Or maybe more a statement about live music? Was going thru the "How Was Your Gig" thread and some of us aren't getting any younger in a few of the pics.

The audiences at open mic nights, jams, sessions etc also seem to be getting more wrinkley too.

Could be, probably is, down to me and just my sphere of influence?

    Any thoughts?

    Arrived this morning!

Lovely bass and that buttery maple neck is gorgeous!
only had a quick run through plugging into my computer and recording a line for the track I’m doing but it’s an instant improvement on my mex std jazz.

Looks very nice indeed, well bought.

You've gone from a thin Fender jazz neck to a large P neck, are you handling that OK? 😎

  8. As above. There's lot of things going on to give it that tone, flats, the windings/wire thickness on the pups, producing a darker sounds etc.

Not mentioned do often so often, are recording techniques regarding the sound mix on older 50s and 60s records.

Most were mixed very light on bass as it tended to make needles skip...lest we forget in our digital age.
