1. We all have our little foibles when it comes to quality 'stuff'. My passions are expensive and I should certainly just sell my most valuable goods to free up some cash.
However, they are valued! No one else I know has such and such, and I get comments on my bike constantly, but as far as basses are concerned, for my skill level I couldn't conceive spending over a grand when a Squier CV does the job well.
One day I may have an expensive bass that functions on the same aesthetic level as my other 'stuff' and therefore give a different answer.

2. Have fun and good luck! I'm quite envious because I've been wanting to dabble for a while in this sort of music but nothing going on locally it seems.
The Amy Winehouse number we rehears e is the nearest thing to anything with a soulful Afro-Caribbean feel; i try to keep it deep and low, and of course focus on the timing.
I'm gonna bear all that advice above in mind.
Best!

Bet you can`t wait to go again hey?
thanks. Love Wilco, seeing them in Manchester Academy in autumn.
We are planning on doing some early Wilco stuff too; Far, Far Away etc.
Also some Elbow, Fleet Foxes, Midlake and Shins.
Looking forward to it all!

5. Hi. Had my first step onto a stage last night.
It wasn't with the rock/pop band I've been rehearsing with for the last 6 weeks though, this was a folk/open mic night at a well established club that takes place in the folk capital of the north east! :)
Well, I know there's lots of support for folk music nationally and to be honest they do allow a wide range of stuff to be played.
I never thought to myself a year ago, I'd be onstage performing duets of Wilco tunes on an acoustic with people nodding their heads in the audience. Nervous as hell, had to come up with some bass lines myself (as there aren't any tabbed!) and fluffed a couple of bars at the end of one tune, but what an experience.

6. as above. Mint, pics to come later.
With all the effects etc.
Line 6 LowDown lowdown here
Been a good little practice amp, but no longer needed.
Cheers.
£45 collected or meet in North East/Yorks of England.
