  1. Figured that, but appreciate the clarification. As for the food, and not having to eat for a week, you clearly haven’t met me yet🤣
  2. @neepheid Thanks - That sounds like a blast, my gear isn't anywhere near as good as most of the stuff on here and doubt anyone would want to try it (but you never know🤣), the opportunity to try different basses is especially appealing as there is very limited selection of instrument outlets near me and I keep seeing gear that looks nice but never sure if I'll get on with it. Biggest worry is the burning jealousy I'll have over all the nice kit and lack of funds to buy any😖 @Frank Blank - That's an impressive recommendation, reckon I need to get that in the diary. @Woodinblack - Thanks, looks like there was some seriously nice kit on show
  3. I found on My Warwick gnome by running the gain up higher makes a punchier overall tone, then I set the master volume to get the sound level I need, so depending how punchy I want the tone I'll adjust accordingly (don't know a better way to describe it but hopefully it makes sense)
  4. I'll apologise first for the dumb question, but.... What is this exactly? I'm in North Devon so it's not far to come and sounds interesting but I just don't have a clue (this goes for most things by the way😆).
  5. So I bought the gnome ipro and a TC BC208 and tried it out at rehearsals. Rest of the band was impressed with how good it was and although driving the gain quite hard (makes it more punchy in my opinion) had to keep the volume right down, loads of headroom and great sound. Huge thanks to everyone for there advice and reviews as I wouldn’t have given it a go without being on here and pulling from people’s experience 👍
  6. I’ll watch with anticipation Any other versions planned?
  7. Read the reviews on lfsys cabs and nothing but amazing feedback so might wait to see when they’re likely to be available (or if I can afford them🤣). Ideally wanted a 2x10 so I only have to carry one cab about. 🤞🏻The gnome hasn’t gone from the marketplace
  8. Thanks for the feedback, I’d not found any independent reviews but if the tc208 pairs that well I can get that and try it on return if it’s not what I want, so nothing lost. There’s a good price 280w gnome just be posted so going to try and buy that👍
  9. What cabs are people using these heads with as I'm looking to get the ipro V2 but need a lightweight cab to use with it? There's quite a lot of positive feedback on the amps but nothing on the Warwick gnome cabs as far as I can see (from gigs anyway, someone replied to me about using it for noodling at home that was useful)
  10. Useful to know that they still sound good though. Looked at the Trace Elliot elf reviews but without an extension cab the 2x8 will be 130W as it’s an 8ohm cab
  11. Something I'm considering. There's loads of reviews on the TC electronics BC208 (which is cheaper) and they're generally really positive but was thinking the 2x10 which is 4ohm might allow more headroom. I was probably thinking of going for the 300W gnome head so pairing it with the same cabs might be a good choice (not based on anything more scientific than hoping that Warwick might have considered this). I've also seem a reasonably priced TE Elf set up but it's quite a bit more and lots of comments of noisy fans....
  12. I’ve read a lot of reviews about the Warwick Gnome amps but there doesn’t appear to be much on their cabinets. Has anyone had any experience with the cabinets as I’m think about the 2x8 or 2x10 4ohm with the gnome head as I want something smaller (and more forgiving on my back) than my 30year old TE combo?

Yep and I’ve already learnt a lot from the conversation so far so it’s been really useful. I know everyone has opinions and preferences but gleaning the issues to look for and insights into others thoughts on this has helped so far - thanks all, the research and hunt continues

Think I’ll need to play a few to get a better idea and keep the research going - thanks for the input

    Buying old basses

Thumb has always been on my dream list but out of my price range. Could possibly get that fixed depending how bad it is any idea what she’d want for it and any pics?

Thanks for the feedback, probably worth waiting for a decent MIG one to come up then. There’s a nice looking fortress one on marketplace but too far to travel and try it for me at the moment and not keen on buying a bass I haven’t played before

    Buying old basses

Thanks - that’s really useful and something to look out for. Having looked at what’s about and hearing about different neck widths, I’m thinking of trying to find a few to play first as well as considering some of the new China made ones and not rush into buying anything yet.

    Hi

Always wanted a Warwick thumb bass but too pricey for me at the moment
  23. Looks good! Got the 4 string version of this and been playing it for a few years now, doesn’t look as nice as yours does though.

    Buying old basses

Thanks guys for the really useful and constructive feedback. The kit I bought SH in the 90’s I still play, doesn’t feel old, until I have to carry my TE amp and cab about but knowing I’ve had it 30years and looking at the gig scars from youthful exuberance and stupidity I know it’s old. Sounds like it’s worth going for and factoring in a good set up/check over/strings etc
