  1. OK, somethings come up on the bay that really fits what im after (not bassman but vintage and valvey all the same). As such this is no longer a feeler and is defo up for sale or trade (again, something valvey, vintage and along the lines of bassman 135) just in case the bay one doesnt come to fruition. Price wise im still open to reasonable suggestions

  2. Cheers, my only slight concern is it being underpowered at rehearsals. Live i can mic up but im competing against a guitarist with a Slash sig stack. Defo after one tho, GAS is getting to me!. Managed to pretty much secure a matching 2z15 cab on here so fingers crossed i can sell the Hartke

  3. This has made me think. I currently use a hybrid Hartke HA5500 (500w) but REALLY want a go at valves. Looked around and now really gassing for a Fender Bassman 135. My only worry is that 135w wont be enough. Sure for a gig i can mic up but at rehearsal im worried that i wont cut through our beast of a drummer and the guitarists marshall slash stack. Do valve watts really sound louder than ss/hybrid?

  4. Now for sale/trade. I do love this amp but currently GASin for sonething vintage and valvey. I have a Hartke HA5500 hybrid amp still with original box and even cellophane bag the amp came in. Gigged twice but DI'd so never really driven. I use it with the tube pre-amp on most of the way and SS pre-amp almost off and get quite close to a good valve tone. Immaculate condition. Googled them and it appears they go for £475 new so thinking around £375-£350. Would connsider anything similar to fender bassman 135 ( vintage valve amps over 100w). Want to guage interest before i up my search for a 135 and wanted to see how far off i am price wise. It will be collection only from Manchester im afraid but could consider delivery for right deal. Let me know your feelings peeps!

  5. Thought id update re my RV4F. Now the neck has settled i think it just needs a tinker with the truss rod, basically it needs (amateur speak here) ''pulling back at the headstock'' i assume this is 'relief'? Also must mention the customer service ive recieved from David at Probass. From the time i ordered my bass he has been nothing but helpful with my issues. Even to the point of emailing me regarding my previous post on this thread offering a full set-up and no cost to me or alternitively a brand new nut free of charge. As im a fussy one re: setups ive opted for the nut and will take it to a guy who does all my basses (Phil Hartley). This isnt because i dont trust David its just that having done all my instruments Phil knows exactly how i like them done. Fair play to David on the customer service. Really are stunning basses for the money, the Fireglo looks lovely and i really am tempted by the Natural finish ones, slight problem being the Mrs :)

  6. My RV4 in Fireglo arrived today. First impressions are its a lovely bass for the money. There are several 'set-up' issues tho that will need to be sorted by my local luthier:- The nut isnt even close to being cut right, the G string is a fair way off all the other strings so new nut is a must, neck needs adjusting (im crap at this), the neck pick up is slightly of centre meaning the G string side pole is on the other side of the string, Ive pushed the string outwards so it is over the pole and it is off the neck! I bought it as a back-up bass so im not too concerned about the pick-up but the new and neck will need sorted before i have it in my gig bag.

Everything else looks good. Its a very thin body and nice and light, the controls are all smooth ans the wood grain looks very classy. Once its fully set up ill give it a good test at rehearsal and do a proper review but to summarise at the mo.....you can tell its a chinese made bass, not great QC but potentially a bargain once Phil Hartley works his magic on it

  7. Im about to take on a 2x15 Laneyt bass cab after chasing a 2x15 for ages. It has the usual black metal grille on the front and my question is.....if i cover this grille in a reto looking silvery speaker cloth will this effect the sound/efficiency of the cab? Was thinking of usuing a spray adhesive onto the grille (obviosuly while off the cab) and pressing it down onto a length of retro speaker cloth before cutting to size etc

  8. Pics to follow tonight but due to new bass GAS and big cull i offer:-

Squire affinity P Bass. Sunburst, bought off the bay for an Oasis tribute band stint. Replaced white scratchplate with tort one ala Andy Bell. Needs slight attention to make it fit perfect but is ok as is. Full setup and new nut by Phil Hartley of bolton. Slight damage to rear of neck near headstock (dint not crack). Cost £90, plate cost £30 and £45 setup and nut. Asking for £130. Pics to follow tonight. Collection only from Didsbury.

Aslo have Ashdown compressor £35 collected, hohner hs 335 style semi g*itar in black with gold hardware £TBA. Pics all to follow asap

  9. Head now gone. Leaves the 310 and 115, lookin for say £100 for the 410 and maybe £85 for the 115 given its good condition? Still open to trades for Ashdown BP1510 or the Hartke equivalent (forgot name) or any 'mix' cabs (i.e 1x15 and 2x10 in one cab etc). Also still have an Ashdown Dual compressor that ill let go for £30 collected

  10. Finally decided that i DEFINATELY want rid of my ashdown rig. MY hartke head is more my thing and once im gigging again ill look for suitable cabs.

    The ashdown rig consists of:
Ashdown MAG 300 UK made head (not evo model). Carpet covered and in decent condition other than marker pen 'dots' on the face to denote past settings.
Ashdown MAG 410 Deep. Slightly bobbly carpet covering due to over zelous kitten. Works fine and has the old style 'grey mesh' grille. Carpet has come away slightly at back of cab on the bottom. Easily glued back tho.
Ashdown MAG 115 Deep. In excellent condition . Carpet covered and same grille as above.

Pick up only from Bolton or Didsbury (am in between both at the mo). Looking for £320ish for the rig or would consider a Ashdown BP1510 cab and cash my way. Pics to follow

  11. Right, after muchos umming and ahing ive decided the whole ashdown rig is to go. The head is sold pending but i now have the 410 Deep and 115 Deep left. The 410 is a little tatty. The carpet is a bit bobbly and at the back a slight bit has come unstuck. Easily glued down tho and sounds fantastic. The 115 is in better condition, bought of TDM on here early this year. Initially ran them with the MAG300 head but recently with my Hartke HA amp and it sounded amazing! Reason for sale is i dont play at the moment and space.

As i will be looking to get back into it soon i would consider the following trades with cash either way upon discussion:-

    Ashdown ABM BP1510
consider any 2x15's or possibly 2x12's.

    Money wise:-
i would guess at the 4x10 is worth about £100 and the 1x15 about £70.

Ideally want to sell/trade as a pair but will consider options if both cabs are wanted seperately.

Pics to follow very shortly. Based in Bolton by the way so ideally looking for something local.

    Cheers,

  12. i know im diggin up an old thread here but just came across it and had to comment. Ive had my bison now for over a year and it STILL gets me giddy when i get it out of its case. Most times the novelty of a new bass lasts me about 4 months but this baby keeps me goin. Wanted one for ages and even tho i gas for other basses i could never top the feelin i have for the bison (only bass that could do it would be a Ricky 4005 in cherryburst!). Heres a pic of me rocking it at the Night N Day in Manchester

  13. My new amp head has a sufficient built in compressor (not that i use it much anyway these days) so the pedal is to go. Will need to get postage costs but in the meantime ill say £35 collected from Bolton? Still in box (box slightly damaged).

    Anyone interested let me know.

    Cheers
