Bought this lovely bass from Gareth on here last year. Fender Precision Bass in Wine Red, which I believe is one of the international colours that Fender offered at this time. The finish is trans - you can see the wood beneath it. Usual dings, wear, fag burn etc. The laquer finish on the headstock is quite worn & chipped. Sounds the business! 70's Precision punch! Currently wearing some d'addario chrome flat wounds. Weighs some 10.5 lbs. Comes with original moulded case. £SOLD. Bass in Glasgow if anyone wants to try it out. Got this uke for a xmas present this week! I have owned a few ukulele basses over the years (Kala mahogany Ubass, Kala SUB 5 Ubass & HB (Thomann) bass) all of which (except the HB) I have parted ways with due to the fact they cost a small fortune and I couldn't justify keeping them as an expensive ornament. I did use them for a small number of acoustic gigs etc, but they were few and far between. Anyway, the Countryman - BUILD - Really nice build quality, no sharp frets or any obvious flaws with the finish. Made with mahogany laminated sides, back and top with mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and Aquila Thundergut strings. Maybe not as quality as the Kala, but light years ahead of the HB. The new strings take a while to stretch and settle on these but the tuners seem to be doing there job and holds the tuning well. SOUND - The bass came fitted with some nice Thundergut strings which I do think are an improvement on the black phoe strings these basses normally come with. Acousticly the bass sounds fine, for me not really practical for giging etc but totally fine for some late night practice when everyone is in bed. Plugged in is where these wee ukulele basses excel. The countrymans preamp is ok, at this point I would say the Kala preamp they use is far better than the CMs. With the high, mid & bass centred the CM sounds a bit top/treble heavy. I fixed this by rolling all the treble off, mid at 10ish & bass just about maxed out. At this setting the CM sounded nice and fat yet I could still cut through with some punchy-ness by playing towards the bridge. The preamp also has a tuner built in which works great. COST - This was a xmas present but I think these are coming in at around £130/50 from bass direct etc. VERDICT - At this price point the Countryman is a winner, I will probably get another solid body Kala at some point but for all my acoustic needs the CM does the job fine. A good way to dip your toe into the bass uke world. Short demo video l made is up on my instagram page - https://instagram.com/p/BOgMdy8g7TbtDJe01SNYA7ZUz4NplqelQXvGTU0/ Cheers!

Not long had this, once again thought I could lend my hand to being able to play 5 string bass . . I canny! Bought, £25 setup . . It has sat unused, the thing is in great condition. £425 new from Thomann who don't have them back in stock for another month. These are amazing jazz basses for the money, the 18v active preamp is stunning. The neck plays great. You are welcome to come try it out in Glasgow. CAN NOW POST! Cheers! NCD - New Combo Day: Fender Rumble 500 V3
Me And My Bass replied to discreet's topic in Amps and Cabs
Great choice, Mr. Discreet! I've had my 500 for a year now - at gigs I always take my 115 cab as well! I was a Markbass user for some years before switching to these, and I love them to bits. My tone was never to my liking - always a little 'sterile' with the MB gear. However, the Fender tone is just amazing - and I'm playing 1970's Ricky's into them. If you love the 500 tone, the 115 cab just gives it a little more of a rounded push. It's more to carry, but it looks great stacked up! I even bought the Rumble 40 as well, which I use for practice. It's got some push - went for over the 25 as it's a fair bit lighter, and the layout is the same as the 500, so I can achieve 'my' tone at all times. I know of another bassist locally who was taken with mine, and soon bought a 500 (plus a 112). They are indeed excellent products, and I can't say enough good things about them. .....and they look uber-cool!
How light is the Rumble 15" man? actually, how much are they as well? lol -
I am having the same trouble with Scott @ Gojira. Paid £100 for a custom filter build . . Last May! Been asking for a refund since xmas, replies are few and far between. Any ideas for getting the cash back other than £25 small claims court claim?

Anyone played one of these with an extension cab other than a fender one? Tempted by the SWR 18" on sale here, placed under one of the rumbles. -
