They actually did make a passive version of these SUB basses as well, but this one is an active version. This is indeed a true 2 band stingray tone monster. Something fresh in your sax life? Nice King Indiana Eb alto sax. Was my backup horn, trying to skim down the herd of Saxes I own. Great condition saxophone, fresh overhaul & playing great.
