1. Anyone else notice this? It looks like a god send for someone like me, who lvoes his mids growly and overdriven ala Newsted/Kroeger/Commerford. Anyone tried one and know where I can try one?
2.
You could probably get a replacement scratchplate from Fender, but there will be cheaper options. One of the best is this guy: http://stores.ebay.com/Dazbootman-Pickguar...Q2em118Q2el1247 How's that parrot?
Ok cheers will have a gander. Haha makes that parrotS! 7 of the little buggers now, and they're all fine cheers! Still a mad house!
3.
I'm not exactly a fan but I did get dragged to a few gigs by an ex-girlfriend and thought they put on a good show. The first time said ex dragged me to see Chris de Burgh (how embarrassing is it to admit to that) and they were the support and pissed all over C de B. I later became quite friendly with Rory's niece purely by chance. Never even knew they were related. I seem to remember he played Jazzes in the late 80s.
I randomly stumbled on a number of the Macdonald clan on myspace on day when browsing the Runrig friends on myspace. And yes, he played Jazzes and Wals. I want his sunburst jazz, and that damn Wal too, sounded ace!
4. Haha Riggies everywhere! I'm off to see them yet again at Edinburgh Vastle this year....anyhow, back on topic, the thing is, can I buy another scratchplate that'll fit exactly? I'd keep the scratchplate off, but my bass has a gaping electronics hole in it, as it's a Deluxe USA, and the elctronics are under the scratchplate. As for the vinyl idea, where'd I find that? (i also think I never actually removed the vinyl off my scratchplate....only recently has it started to come up at the edges.....). And in answer to the final posted, yep, it's me!
5. Just seen a review of one of these and it looks impressive. Seen some sound clips and it soundsp retty decent too. Anyone know where I can try one? I hope they're not like Sansamp Bass Drivers in that they get bigged up, but are infact utterly sh*te and useless!
6. I have an autographed Fender Jazz Scratch plate. I met Rory Macdonald of Runrig after a show, and he autographer two of my scratch plates. However, I was told to use hair spray to seal one ofthem, but it destroyed the signatures. I have another one though, but I don;t know how best to go about covering this one? I have perspex, but nobody seems able to cut perspex pprecisely enough to go round the exact shape of the pickguard and slot over the top of the pickups etc. Any advice is appreciated.
7. I thought the Streamer STage 1 & 2 and the Thumb neck throughs were the daddys? They certainly sting the wallet accordingly.....
8. The warwick is 3 band btw. I think the Fender will be best, as I have a Spector with two fat humbuckers already, so I don't particularly need another double bucker bass. I can't really try them becauseeeeeeeeeeeeee....the basses are in London, i'm in York, that's a £50 train fare.
9. Ok, here's my choice. I can keep my jazz, which I actually quite like now after figuring out the EQ fully. But, the Bass Cellar have offered me an exchange, and the bass they've offered is a Warwick Streamer $$. I've never heard a Streamer $$. I want 3 band EQ and versatility in tone. Which bass is best?
10. I rang the Bass Cellar today. REALLY helpful guys, and after listening to my requirements, he suggested a Warwick Streamer $$ in exchange. After reading its specs, I'm guessing it may be quite a beast. Will keep you all posted!
11. My warwick corvette special edition is pretty damn nice. It'll give the low end full on warwicks a pasting.
12.
I came across a small music shop in Oxted today (lovely little town if you ever get the chance to go there... very quaint, and a little one-screen cinema where you still get usherettes with orange-rimmed torches who serve ice cream and Kia-Ora before the film starts ), and they had an interesting-looking Fender American Deluxe Jazz 5-string in the window. So, of course, I had to go and take a look. Wow... just, wow. What a bass! The neck was a little on the chunky side, but it sounded amazing, even through the smallish combo I tried it through. Loads of tones, punchy as hell, versatile EQ, great feel... managed to get everything from Marcus-style slap heaven to the chunkiest pickstyle tone ever. I want one.
Heh, I have just had exactly the opposite experience with one. What neck did the one you tried have on it?

Help!

Hey everyone. I recently purchased a Fender Jazz Deluxe USA 5 string from the Bass Cellar, after playing a few at different guitar shows etc, i was decided this was the bass i wanted for fingerstyle playing. However, I seem to have got a duff one, as it just doesn't have any punch to it at all. So, I'm looking for something new. My requirements are: 5 strings, must have a good sound without my amp(I get sick of taking it to gigs!), so 3 band may be helpful. I want seriously good pick punch, but also the ability to have a really midrangey fingertone(similar to a passive fender jazz, only a little clearer). I have £1100 to play with. Throw forth your suggestions!
14. Hey everyone, just introducing myself. I'm Nick, I'm from York, and I've been playing bass 6 years (still not very good though!).
