  1. I took out my jazz that I'd built from parts last weekend, it sounded awesome so that style of bass is the way I want to go. I've played mainly G&L's for the last 20 years, an l-1505 and an l-2500, I was never totally happy but as my wife had bought me the 2500 I stuck with it. Recently I tried a P bass and it wasn't really my thing but since building the jazz I've realised what I've been missing all these years. Now I want something off the shelf rather than something I knocked together. I don't think I've heard a bad word about the J4!
  2. That's a lovely pair of basses!
  3. Do you mean the metro express? Just had a quick browse, cheaper than the Schecter but didn't look as amazing, I know it's not about looks but that J4 has really grabbed my attention, reviews seem good and there are nice touches like full access to the top frets, vintage or modern sound via a push pull, easy truss rod adjustment etc. I'll probably stew on this for a few days before moving on to something else 😆
  4. I've just seen one of these online, sea foam green, what a beautiful looking guitar. Being on the look out for a jazz type bass I wondered if anyone has one of these and can give me some idea of quality, being as it's made in Indonesia, also seems a lot of money (£945) for something made there, not a problem of course if it's as good as it looks.
  5. Think I may have solved my problem, Premium series made in Japan, the l2k has a jazz type neck, reading around the quality seems to be very good and shipping doesn't seem to be problematic either. Now to see what I can find!
  6. I've got the single coil mod on my 2500 but never use it, I really wanted the 2000 to work for me but don't think it will. I cut through the nerve on my fretting hand index finger a few years ago and I'm finding the large neck difficult when compared to my jazz. Doesn't sound like the Kiloton will work for me as I don't like the bridge pickup solo'd. Is it just me or are G&L's getting really hard to find here in the uk?
  7. Kiloton Tribute, my 2500 is a USA model. I considered the l2000 tribute but there doesn't seem to be much difference in the neck width between that and the 2500
  8. Anyone here have a Kiloton and an L2500? I want something four string with a jazz type neck but the sound of the L2500, is the Kiloton going to sound anywhere close? I've got a four string Jazz which I like but it doesn't cut it against the sound of the L2500 which I've grown accustomed to over the years. The other problem is getting hold of a Kiloton at the moment!
  9. I usually play a G&L l-2500 but thought I'd try out this Jazz bass last night...it cost me £30 off Facebook and it was in a right state, looked like it had been pulled out of a skip, it was a really cheap make but the body and neck were really nice so I took the body down to bare wood and dumped all the hardware, I fitted a pair of Geddy Lee signature pickups, cts pots and switchcraft jack, hipshot bridge, new control plate and machine heads, all in black. I was hoping it would sound good and I wasn't disappointed, I went back to the G&L for the second set and ended up wishing I'd stuck with the Jazz, very pleased with the end result!
  10. Ha ha, makes the picture of the bass that much better!
  11. Thank you...that's a no to being in the SAS...why do you ask?
  12. My two G&L's, I've had the 2500 for about 12 years, bought second hand and the only bass I had gigged with in that time, until I got the LB a couple of months ago. I had an L1505 many years ago and have always regretted selling it, this is the only picture I have of it.
