  1. Yes I am, seems I was a bit hasty and it's just what I need.
  2. Sorry, haven't been on here for a few days, have decided to give it another chance at band practice tomorrow, will let you know how it goes.
  3. My set up on Saturday night, unfortunately the Trace Elliot didn't even make it to sound check...thank goodness for the D-800!
  4. Only used for home practice and one gig, not my thing so moving it on, bought about two months ago.
  5. I would never have gone looking for a white bass but I saw this and couldn't resist it, it's even better in the flesh
  6. Well after a few weeks of going between Sandberg and Sadowsky Metroline I finally pulled the trigger on the VM4, and what a bass it is, it plays so beautifully and the tone is nice and even across the strings. Things that I struggled to play on my G&Ls, and I put down to my rubbish technique, are a breeze on this, every note rings out clearly...yes, obviously I'm in love with it 😆
  7. Have you seen the one in Andromeda on their website? Talk about GAS! I asked Andertons when they may be able to supply one...still waiting for a reply. https://www.glguitars.com/product/fullerton-deluxe-sb-2/
  8. That's helpful, thanks. Did look at a Shuker but have settled one of the three above...edging towards Sandberg at the moment
  9. That's what I was thinking but can't get past the made in China bit
  10. I've been looking at both of these, massive price difference, so has anyone got experience of both? Is the Metroline worth 2 grand more than the Metro Express? I've got a chance of a 5 string Metro Express with the vtc preamp installed, will this get anywhere close to the Metroline? Also looking at Sanberg and Lakland, Sandberg have a great configurator and a 35" scale 5 string pj with preamp works out around the same price as the Metroline.
  11. You're a gent Paul! Yeah I'd heard of the sandpaper trick, might give it a go for a quick fix and get playing it
  12. Yeah, think I do too, I'd only make a mess of painting it anyway!
  13. Well I didn't really need this one...but here we are 🙄
  14. Thanks, hasn't cost me much yet, a bit of setting up and I'll be able to try it out at a band practice.
  15. Couldn't wait to see what it sounded like so I've put it together temporarily, sorry Paul, have gone with the red tort pickguard for now. Quite pleased with the sound but can't get the action low enough without bottoming out the saddles, maybe the neck needs a shim or something, I like the wide string spacing though, makes it easy to play. I'm going to strip it all down again and may still paint it and am thinking about a J Retro preamp...lots of ideas floating round for this one!
  16. I quite like the fact that it's got a P style neck, I've got a Kiloton with a jazz neck which is beautiful to play but it's nice to have a bit of variety
  17. Yeah I was going to leave it as it is but just placing the bridge on the body left a scratch that I had to sand out, I think it had a sharp edge or something but it seems very easily marked, I did a bit of sanding on the headstock and it seems to have removed the woodgrain leaving an almost white finish, not sure what's going on there so I'll probably have to paint it now.
  18. I've rebuilt the bridge now, the saddles cleaned up nicely and I bought new screws and grub screws, also rebuilt the control plate with new pots and knobs. Not sure what to do with the body, I've sanded it down and quite like the matte look so I might finish it with matte lacquer or I might redo it in metallic black with a high gloss lacquer, I've never painted a guitar before though so not sure how well that will go!
  19. Quite happy with the roadworn bits, it was either that or get it resprayed and I don't think it's worth that kind of money. Scratchplate was courtesy of @PaulThePlug, thanks very much Paul, I've saved the main plate of the bridge, the saddles and the springs, the grub screws and the intonation screws were a bit too rusty to rescue so I've been able to order those from eBay. The pickup covers were rough so I've ordered a couple of those, plus a new set of knobs, just waiting for Northwest Guitars to get a set of machine heads in stock, then I can start putting it all together.
  20. No I noticed! Can't find a set of chrome ones anywhere at a decent price but not in a hurry, still have work to do on the body.
