Let me have a look at it when I get to work. If it’s simple enough I’ll do it for free. rob

@BigRedX Thanks for taking the time to reply. I can also see a E205 with USB as well as the original one. https://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_e205.htm https://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_e205umkii.htm I would have throught that the USB one would be the one to have, would I be wrong here? I would assume I am wrong and the 48V is the to get I can also see the suspension units so thats OK. https://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_hm56b_shockmount.htm A pop guard is no big deal. My <ahem> recording studio is my office. It's on the first floor and has a suspended wooden floor with business office tiles. My office isn't that large and isn't heavily damped, indeed I would say it's lots of hard reflective services and unlikely to change. Tripods and stands aren't a problem, I do astrophotography and have a range of different tripods from 10Kg loading up to 50Kg+. I can 3d print any fittings, Thanks Rob

@Burns-bass thanks for your kind offer. The Macbook is now going to a bass player in South Yorkshire. Just looked through my very large collection of cables and I cannot find a displayport to HDMI cable. Serial cables (including some home made special ones for various uses), parallel port, USB of various sorts, DVI to anything, VGA to anything, but can I find a Mac display port to HDMI. No! I Have a Mac DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor that I'll send, but if @Burns-bass doesn;t mind, can he send his cable as well. I'll DM him now. Thanks Rob

I'm looking for a recommendation for a microphone to do home vocal recording with Garageband and a Presonus Audiobox iTwo. This thread has some great examples, but most of them are a number of years old. What I know about vocal recordings could be written on a very small electron and still have space left over for it's mass and position in space. People have suggsted the Superlux E205 (https://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_e205.htm). Am trying to avoid adding in a new guitar to justify shipping The price is OK, does this still stand as a recommendation these days? I can see that the Prosunus has a 48V button and their FAQ states this is for phantom power so am assuming that's OK. Is it? I hate assuming anything as I've conjured up the magic smoke too many times. My record for magic smoke is £25K when £25K was quite a lot more money than it is now. My boss was not amused but since he was there with me at the time, he couldn't say much and I kept my job. Beyond that I haven't a clue what to do. I haven't sung for probably 40+ years when I did have a rather nice voice as a kid and then things happened and I didn't have a nice voice <sniff>. I don't want to spend hundreds but £50-£100 is fine for a mike. Any help or advice greatfully received. Rob

Now before you get too excited about this, the screen is busted. The cat walked across the mantelpiece and knocked a vase off and it landed on the Macbook Air lying on the floor and damaged the screen. The screen is completely unusable It is not in pieces, or physically broken into parts, see the picture. Gosh how we laughed when Sparkles knocked the vase off. Somewhat suprisingly you can drop kick a cat, I was as surprised as the cat as it's a rugby skill I never had before. However the Macbook Air works perfectly well when used with an external screen and the lid closed. I am just in the process of reformatting the disk so it's clean. It has two USB ports, so attach a keyboard and mouse a display port for video and I'll throw a display port to VGA adapter in for nothing as well. It does not have the PSU, that got lost in the move, it's a Magsafe adapter, from memory, a Magsafe 2 but not 100% sure. It doesn't work well with a KVM or at least my Tesmart 4 port HDMI KVM. It did with an older VGA based KVM. If any of this makes sense you know about mouse emulation on KVM for later versions of Windows and how Macs don't have it. It even has a case protector which is useless for stopping a vase landing on the open screen. Apart from that and the broken screen it's in decent nick. The cost and effort for a new screen is more than I want to bear. It runs Mojave and will have a newly installed version on. I'll set up a new admin user, probably imaginatively named "admin" with password "password". It's free to a good home. Not sure how I define good though. The only criteria is you do not expect me to support you getting this going (unless you are a charity or school or something and then I'll try), so unless you are a worthy organisation, you are on your own. If I wanted to spend lots of time getting it going, I'd fix it myself and flog it on eBay. You will need a power supply, £20 off Amazon, and a keyboard and mouse. Wifi works though. You'll need to plug a PSU in, open the lid to start it up. once its started up, close the lid (possiby before then) and the display automatically transfers to the external monitor. Pretty simple TBH. I'll even post for free in the UK, but would appreciate a voluntary donation to the North West Air Ambulance. I won't chase you on it, and it's whatever you can afford. They saved a member of my families life, so I'm always helping them raise money. Thanks Rob

What an interesting thread. I would have said it was fake based on the routing, it looks like I did it and was not what I would expect of an expensive guitar. Shows how little I know about Rickenbackers. Be interested in how this finishes. Always like learning new things. Thanks Rob

And the backup bass for that just in case

I don't even know what some of this stuff is, exotic animals, plants, alien creatures?

Fortunately you can always squeeze another double bass in a Hilbert Hotel without evicting any children even if the hotel is full. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilbert's_paradox_of_the_Grand_Hotel The solution here is to move into the Hilbert Hotel and you never have to worry about storage space again, so you can have an infinite number of basses, even double basses. You give me problems, I give you (philosophical) solutions. I remember doing this years ago when I was heavy into maths and I might have ingested too much of something before reading and it made perfect sense at the time. I've just looked at it again and it doesn't make quite as much sense now. Rob

Didn't know that, thats a big difference and enough to buy a decent Fender Player. Anyway, I'm not going to pay circa £10K for it. Somebody is taking a punt but good luck to them. Rob

Currently at £5,200 +30.2% fees = £6,770 at 9:25 13/10/23 Outside my "take a punt" range

Dear God! What a fantastic collection

<off_topic on> There's more of us here than I thought. The bass in promenade music might well be the most trashed bass they have ever seen. Mild reliccing doesn't come close. It appears to have been used as either shovel or a pick axe on a building site. However it is an ultra short scale and it actiually makes a nice growl, so seeing if they can make it a bit better and sort the neck out. <off_topic off> Anyway, back to the thread. Rob

Whilst that may be accurate and true, your explanation is no fun at all.

Just spent a very pleasant and informative few hours with Andy who very kindly brought a number of guitars for me to try out as I was after a slim neck. An absolute gent and highly knowledgable about music and guitars. A delight to learn from him and to spend a very nice hour with a sandwich and a coffee. Thanks very much Rob

@ossyrocks Ah, I think I have met Gary at Promenade Music. I was gifted a Ibanez Mikro bass which looks like it came off a building site and was used as a shovel. He's looking at it to see if it can be rescued. It makes a good sound so I was keen to keep it. We go to Morecombe every 2-3 months. Its a nice place to walk the dog, even better when they are allowed back on the beaches. Its a 50 min odd drive for us, as we are near Settle, but I like it. I coach a girls team made up of North Ribbs, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Garstang and Vale of Lune, which is on the Morecombe to Lancaster road. We go every 6th or 7th Sunday to do joint training there. I keep saying I'll go watch some bands but never get around to it Rob

Wow. What a great colour. Never thought I’d say that about a yellow guitar. I suspect it’s great if you want to hide in the background playing at a custard factory. love it.

Ah I’ve a bass guitar in Promenade Music in Morecombe. Thought I was the only person here.

Hands up those who had “please don’t tongue test a 9v battery” on their buzz word bingo today ….

I had a play on a 2003 4003 yesterday. What a great bass. Played like a dream, looked in great condition. Black, just looked classy. Thankfully I couldn't afford it, but it was very nice. I can see why people like them, Rob

Loking for help on a Telecaster or similar....

Thanks for the information. Seems like there is a wide variety of necks on the various Teles.
