    [size=4]Peavey Foundation Fretless bass guitar up for sale - £175. [/size]

    [size=4]It’s a really excellent instrument – made in the USA with a superb maple neck and rosewood fretboard, the scale length is 34”. The neck is fitted to the body like Fender guitars, with a four bolt mounting plate and it has a microtilt adjustment. The bass is fretless, and it has fret markers set into the rosewood fingerboard[/size].

    [size=4]The electrics are as on a Fender Jazz bass with two passive pickups each with a volume control and an overall passive tone control.[/size]

    [size=4]The bass dates to 1995 from the serial number (08779861), and it’s a really good player, the weight is nice & easy at 3.6 kilos, and the neck has a lovely feel to it. It has hardly any marks on it at all - almost like new. A really good example of a guitar that's nearly 20 years old, the machine heads are all good, and the neck and fretboard are straight and true with no marks or wear.[/size]

    [size=4]I’m up in Morecambe near Lancaster, and you’re welcome to come over & see & try the bass before buying, alternatively I do go over to Rochdale pretty well every week for a couple of days now so you could see it there.[/size]

    [size=4]The bass is an American Standard Precision, in three colour sunburst finish, with highly figured maple front and back, gold hardware, special edition logo on rear of headstock and a neck mounting plate confirming it is number 315 of 500 worldwide [/size]

    [size=4]The P bass has the tags, cleaning cloth, truss rod adjuster, owners manual, specifications booklet, guitar case keys, (also a pair of gold plated Schaller Strap Lock fittings, as the guitar comes with gold straplock buttons on it).[/size]

    [size=4]It comes in the correct black tolex Fender logo'd rectangular case.[/size]

    [size=4]The bass is in almost mint condition and, regardless of being a limited issue, is a really excellent bass to play, with a lovely neck, through body stringing, and a great tone – it has the full, deep, solid sound that I have always found with good quality Precisions. [/size]

    [size=4]In red metallic finish, my vintage Gibson guitar all in good working order and in original condition with some marks & wear to the paintwork - see photos .[/size]
    [size=4]It has two Zebra humbuckers giving a really great rich and full sound, but not muddy at all. All the controls are working fine and it has a nice true neck with a rosewood fretboard. [/size]
    [size=4]The serial number 83512594 dates it to 1982. These were made by Gibson in the USA from 1980 to 1984. [/size]
    [size=4]It has a bolt on neck, tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, 24.75” scale, a rosewood fretboard and Gibson machine heads - you get a lot for your money – a Made In USA Gibson with humbuckers and the looks of a Les Paul.[/size]
    [size=4]The guitar comes with the pictured rectangular hard case – not made by Gibson, but it’s very strong and protective, and a decent strap.[/size]

    Avoid shipping anything musical with Myhermes

    I've used MyHermes OK lots of times but I know they don't cover instruments, & was suprised to hear all of the above - it's a really handy service in that you can take the parcel when it suits you to a local My Hermes Parcelshop rather than waiting for it to be picked up.

    So it's Parcelforce 48 for me with extra insurance.

    Hey there - a subject dear to my heart.

    I think that moving mags on is a great idea - they are horribly expensive at around the £5 mark, and are still perfectly readable/enjoyable/informative even when read months or years alter.

    I got some from another member here - and when I did, the main cost, is, as Ray has laid out, the mad cost of Royal Mail postage now.

    5 mags come in at about 2 kilos, and the only cheap way is, in my opinion, to use My Hermes - that way you can still drop the parcel off at a local My Hermes shop of your choice - a bit like going to a post office - and you get a receipt & could shave a few quid off a 2 kilo parcel within regular UK postcodes and you can get "signed for" facility as well if you want.

    It's a pity that there couldn't be a central depot/library for all the mags, or, perhaps a "you send me yours & I'll send you mine" arrangement......but if everyone is buying Bassist, then you would all be trying to swap the same mags.

    There must be a way round this............. :unsure:
