1. the WLE ones - while you need to buy 10, they are very cheap aren't they. ( I used the wle ones in my wedgehorn - no probs - 63p each for 10!) just found this in thumpers build diary -
4-no. Generic 1016-type Piezo Tweeters MPT-016 (CPC Farnell part. no. LS02367 - £1.86 each)
- Post a build diary - go on! max
2.
The damping factor of the tubes make the speaker flop Simon.
is that really a technical term!
3. I have a mate who does amp/electronic repairs on Norfolk/suffolk border - he's one of the guys who does stuff for several of the shops. If you're interested, PM and I'll pass his details max
4. I'm just starting a new business so can't spare any time, sorry. max may be persuaded to lend my omni10 - as long as someone else transports it and gets it back for the weekend as i'm gigging it. That person would need to be from Norfolk .
5. Build a BFM cab and buy a splendid amp to match - what you save on the cab, you can spend even more on the amp! If i lost my BFM cab I wouldn't hesitate in building another - no other cabs come close. max
6. Take the time to enjoy it 'cos it'll be over so quickly. Then organise gig no 2 and don't stop! You'll be fine.
7. may I be the first to point you to http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/ - designs, theory and a good forum when you can learn stuff. There are several build diary's on our previous site which haven't made it here (yet - I'm still hoping someone does it!). max
8.
DHL are rubbish though............My only word of caution is therefore to make sure you're getting the stuff delivered somewhere where you can be sure it will be signed for.
Couldn't agree more. thomann work well, DHL are a pain. Assuming their postcode readers actually put the parcel in the correct area, getting the parcel if you're not in gets increasingly difficult. max
9. I use a Rode NT2 for vox and acoustic instruments - I have SM57 for amps and occasional acoustic guitars and a SM58 for live work only - doesn't really cut it in the studio - the more you can spend on a mic, the better the end product. A good compressor is nice but it can't make up for a cheap mic. In fact compressors are another topic -i think there's a sticky on basstalk that needs moving over but it's not mine and i don't know how to do it! Compressors vary in character so a good comp for bass would not sound at all good on vocal. max
10. It's me in Stuttgart at an open air thing a couple of years ago - seem to have less hair these days and wear even more hats. Seen here with a NZ bush hat, bought in NZ I found a less hair pic! The hat was bashing the roof so had to go! max
