1. If I had the money, I'd buy this right now. These are great basses so have a bump on me!
2. I met him at a bizarre but enjoyable gig at Leazes Park (I think) bandstand and he is a gentleman. We shared the same wierd bill and were followed by some kind of Bhangra act. Don't let his appearance fool you - he owns a car and lives in Whitley Bay I think!
3. The man is a legend! He makes me feel somewhat inferior. He needs to get himself an unreal drummer and an original vocalist and they would rule the world...
4. Not bad! I was expecting much, much worse.
5.
You'll be needing a Shuker JJB P bass too then That's a fabulous punch in the face bass...
I need to get saving up! And sell some stuff/organs/sexual favours...
6.
It has something to do with CND, which Glastonbury was heavily involved in, or vice versa, in the 70's-I believe JJ reckoned CND was funded by the Russians, and I've seen interviews where he claims to have been proved right-I don't know how true that is. As to how they got in-it has been said that as the Stranglers and the Wurzels share the same management, and the Wurzels are having something of a renaissance at the moment, Eavis wanted the Wurzels but was told he could only have them if he had the Stranglers too. Again not sure how true that is, but it wouldn't surprise me..
Interesting! Thanks for that. The Wurzels were a fine addition to the lineup and the Avalon Tent was massively overflowing with people - So I understand why Eavis would put up with having The Stranglers on his lineup to have The Wurzels too!
7. Ah so that's why the bass sound was like being punched in the face in a good way! My ashdown rig needs another cab (I need money first though...)! Does anyone know why they fell out with Eavis and were only just allowed back?
8. A hit-spangled set! Fail to anyone who was there and went to see England lose instead - although I'm not complaining as I was able to get to a spot about 10 people from the front. Good bass playing and a great live sound. RIP Pete.
9. I just got to the stage in time to see Stevie on his back going wild with a keytar! Pretty good set really, more suited to a festival than when I saw him at MEN (last year I think) - which was also a great gig. Sound wasn't excellent but good times were had. I Just Called was the highlight for me!
10. Personally I thought that they were pretty fine, not quite up to the standard of their Wembley Stadium gig though. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't bring out their UFO prop but I was loving the pipe. Playing a bit of House of The Rising Sun was a nice touch too, as was bringing The Edge out! On a slightly different topic, I have been fully converted to The Stranglers! What a thunderous live bass sound - I think I spotted JJ using four (!) Ashdown 410 or 412 cabs!
11. I've gigged many a time through a somewhat antique peavey keyboard combo - 200W I think. Did the trick tbh and more than enough volume. I also own a microbass practice amp which was damn good for the money. Hope this helps!
12. It's still for sale, ladies and gentlemen!
13. £80 ONO. Ideally pick up from Newcastle-upon-Tyne city centre or Stockton-on-Tees. Great little practice amp & loud enough to practice with a band. Gigged twice with PA support - does the trick nicely! It has been looked after well but is a little bit grubby in places - can be cleaned up easily with a damp cloth. Comes with kettle lead, instruction manual & I'm sure I can find the box it came in somewhere. The slightly updated version retails at about £140 so save yourself a bundle! It would make a great first amp or a compact and portable combo for someone who needs a small setup for acoustic gigs etc.
14. Good to see another owner out there. Can't say I'm a fan of 'twang' myself - I like a bass to sounds like a bass, not a telecaster! It sure looks pretty in white/gold.
15. I bought it on the dreaded ebay from some irish bloke who had imported the bass from the states. I'd been after one for a while, although none of the UK distributors were anywhere near me or stocked the bass. One popped up on ebay, in the finish I was after and with a hardcase! For some reason I was the only person bidding on it.
16. I recently bought a 2nd hand Eastwood Classic 4 bass in walnut and am pretty pleased with it. Are there any other owners out there? I'm happy to answer any questions for anyone who is interested in these basses. The bass is pretty versatile as long as you're into pretty retro sounds - this bass is not really designed for slap! The bass can handle retro rock, blues and reggae with ease. Build quality is decent and the thin, jazz bass-like set neck is pretty fast and a pleasure to play. The string spacing is narrower than that of my MIM Jazz Bass so you need to be a bit more careful with your picking hand. I have not had any problems with 'boom' which is associated with semis and I have had no issues with feedback. I can summon controlled feedback when I use my Digitech Bass Driver (overdrive/distortion) - which can be used in some good applications! There is a bit of neck dive, but it's not a major problem. Fit & finish on the bass is just OK - not quite as good as I expected for a $650 list price bass, however the wood looks pretty good on the body of the bass (especially on the back). The bass seems pretty decent for recording, although is sits further back in the mix in comparison to the Jazz, which is quite cutting and up front in the mix. The Eastwood is perfect for recording with on chilled out/acoustic music and is perfect for acoustic sets as you can get a lot of useable mellow sounds from it. I have had a lot of compliments on how the bass looks at gigs, something which never happens when I use my Jazz! I hope that this is informative for y'all! Sorry no pics yet, my camera is a bit broke at the mo.

18. Thanks for your responses. I will buy the head (a UK made head seems to good to miss) and continue to scour the internet to get hold of the 1st cab. Bring on the rig!
19. I'm sure this has been discussed a zillion times but I can't seem to find anything that answers my question (that I can understand!) and I don't really understand this stuff. I'm in the process of buying a rig and the UK-built Ashdown MAG 600 tickles my fancy - http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...n)~ID~11199.asp I won't be able to afford 2 cabs straight away. Will I be able to run a single cab without destroying it if the output knob is turned down? I'm thinking of starting with an Ashdown ABM compact 210/115 or mini 115 depending on what I can hold of 2nd hand (all 300W @ 8 ohms). Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.
20. Does no-one want a pre-christmas bargain!?
21. The tuner will need replacing/repairing as it has very little grip and the string will de-tune itself in a few minutes - no idea why as it just starting happening one day randomly. I can't seem to see what is wrong with it so I can't fix it. I'll take some photos and get them up in the next few days hopefully. You are welcome to come and try her out. Currently strung up with Fender nickel flats. There is no real damage to the actual bass - maybe a little scratch or two - nothing major though. Thanks for the interest!
22. Any takers? if you are in Newcastle city centre let me know -you can come round for viewings and to try it out
