Interesting. I was down your way last week, went to Ross and Hereford and was pleasantly surprised that both still had reasonably well-stocked music shops. In my part of the world all the music shops have gone in places of similar size.

Having said that, none of the pubs I went in showed any sign of ever having live music on. But there must be something going on……

Ps, no gigs going at the Credenhill camp? They’d be a tough crowd to please 😆

Those shops are full of stock 'cos there's no musicians around to buy anything. 😄  I'm way over on the other side on the Welsh Border... it's mostly farmers with ruddy complexions, wellies and nervous looking sheep here. Definitely nowhere local to me, though I think there's a small handful of venues in Hereford itself. I've not found a decent band to join to play at any of them though!

Yeah, I wouldn't want to go upsetting that lot at the camp, then again If you've heard Jack Dee's SAS story, it just about sums up every bloke in Hereford of a Friday night.

  2. I have a DSL 3" strap.  It's well made, the colour works well for me, and is comfortable enough to use with my bass. The so called "padding" however is a joke. It would have been sent back for a refund had I bought it new at nearly £40. Good job I only paid about £5 for it.

I also have one of those Planet Waves shoulder pad things which is not bad but slips around on the strap too much so always having to adjust it.

The best strap I have owned has to be the Gibson Fat Boy, a real heavy duty monster of a strap built to take the weight of a Les Paul. In fact it weighed nearly as much! Sadly not made anymore but I have seen them pop up on eBay every so often.

Lemonrock was great when I lived in Hertfordshire, and I know its strong in the West Country, but since moving to Shropshire, its non-existent in the West Midlands.

Don't move down to Herefordshire. I can't even find any decent musicians or bands to join!

  4. I've had a Jubilee cab couriered to me no problem before with just some protection across the front grill. I also got a quote for a DBS cab (36kgs) recently which was about £40. It could be an option if you are struggling to get anyone to pick it up.  Buyer will still be getting a very well priced cab even with an extra cost. It would be a shame to see this end up getting abuse in a rehearsal room somewhere. I'm broke at the moment sadly, but would definitely be interested in a few weeks time.

  5. My Marshall is class H. I won't pretend to know all the technical ins and outs but I understand  it utilizes a secondary power supply that kicks in to handle massive peaks. Either way it sounds awesome and definitely the best sounding amp I've owned by far.

  6. I would spend the extra money and get the actual Aria Pro II version. It is their original design after all, which I quite like. I nearly bought a Detroit bass a while ago. Sorry but not tempted by a HB copy of an already relatively budget friendly instrument even if the price is favourable. Just my personal opinion.

  7. When I was gigging I always had just one bass at a time. I played a Korean Ibanez ATK for a few years, and an Aria Pro II for quite a while when I first started playing. Both served me well. Over the last few years I've gone through loads of basses, but now currently I have just 2 with another turning up next week, so will have 3. I could absolutely just live with my Washburn only as it does everything I want it to, sounds great and just feels right with a nice low action which I like. I also fitted a bass xtender plus double stop lever so can get a low D and a Low B if I need it. It's nice to have a break and play another bass for a bit of tonal variation and a different feel every so often, but it also helps me appreciate my main bass even more when I come back to it.

Yeah, right?!? Maybe You would like to compare Guns 'n Roses with Homer Simpson.

Guns And Roses? Homer....? No, see, look.... you said "Beethoven" and then...... actually no forget it, the joke just isn't funny when it needs explaining. 😐

  9. Can't really offer any useful advice but it's a great bass amp. I had the 300 watt Jubilee head, then located the matching 4x10 like yours, followed by the 1x15. I had it for quite a while. Great sounding setup, sadly I never got to use it live. Looked awesome all set up in my bedroom though!

I *think* with the 600 watt head you need 4 of those 8ohm cabs to get all the power?

  10. Jazz bass pickups: I want meat, thud, thump, and heft, not pop, twang, fizzle and whimper.

Ibanez necks: If I pay £500 for a bass, I want my woods worth thanks.

Basses that would make much better coffee tables.

Woefully unbalanced basses: bodies made from balsa wood with necks made from Kryptonite.

Fender copies that cost twice as much as the real thing... If I want a traditional "P-Bass"  I'll just buy the real thing by Fender with all its quirks, and save some money thanks.

    Great amps, the Marshall DBS

It is one serious bit of kit that's for sure! Superior to every other amp I've owned including other Marshalls. For its "only 200 watts" it sure packs a punch 👍
