    Hi,

It is possible to get VBT with series / parallel push pull pot? Can’t see it listed.

    cheers,

    Tom

    Yes Tom,

Can do but it's really not a comfortable combination to use, IMHO. With pick-ups in series the blend is redundant, as would a second volume control be. In parallel of couse the blend has control over the 2 pick-ups as normal, with volume and tone.

PM me for any more info please.

Sorry I didn't check the link before posting - my bad - that was not what I meant to post, apologies.

  3. Stuart got in touch for a Leftie P-bass loom, a spot on transaction - great comms, instant payment - he let me know when delivered, then fitted, another happy customer 😃

Lead solder melts at a lower temperature than lead free stuff, which can in turn reduce the potential for ‘burning out’ the carbon track inside of a pot when wiring it up.

The downside is that gives off poisonous fumes, and should be used in a well ventilated area. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards too.

My own ‘top tip’ for soldering pots is to ensure that they are fully counter-clockwise before you start; this limits the amount of heat that can be transferred to the track inside them, this protecting them.

If you’re using lead free solder then your iron doesn’t need to be much hotter than about 220 degrees, lead solder will be fine at about 180/190.

180/190 Centigrade is equal to approx 350/375 Fahrenheiht, most digital display/controlled soldering irons will have switchable ranges.

    Hi all,

I had to have the pots changed on my P bass but the original knobs won't fit, so the tech put some new ones on. They're slightly different, smaller and more rounded and I don't like them! Is there anywhere I can get original looking ones that will fit? How will I know they'll fit until I try them? May sound really petty but just feel these new ones spoil the look.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave.

The 'tech' is a knob then 😃

  6. The 2 big caps will be the most expensive obviously, while you're in there - or your tech. if you find one - I'd say replace all the electrolytics, they won't cost a fortune.

You could do with checking all the diodes too.

No armchair diagnosis is going to be perfect, there's no substitute for a real life inspection/repair/test.

I'd have a word with PJB first though.
