1. Sounds interesting, but never been to one of these does before. What's the "form"?
 2. I'm thinking of investing in a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, but not sure it's going to be worth the money. I do little or no studio work, all live, and play through an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro. Can anyone out there offer some advise on the benefits / pitfalls of the SansAmp and how you use it. Thanks.
 3. Don't think I've ever taken a spare in my life - am I tempting fate? Have never broken a string (I take spare leads, etc in my bag, but no spare strings) The only thing I've ever had problems with is an amp, and I certainly don't take a spare one of those! No doubt my gig this weekend will be a complete disaster, everything will break and I will wish I hadn't written this note!
 4. Great amp, perfect condition, excellent price and still available. Anyone interested?
 5.
Bargain! Always wanted to try one of these...
Are you interested? Give me a call on 07850 757269.
 6. Less than a year old, perfect condition. Great amp, but I'm selling as I've recently bought a SVT3 Pro. You can get all the technical spec from www.ampeg.com. Currently selling new on-line for around £600. I'll accept £350. Too heavy to post so collection only (Lincoln area) or may be prepared to meet up half way. Phone Mike on 07850 757269
 7.
Congrats dude, can't wait to see the pics... Can you tell me a bit more about the "tone booster" knob? Cheers, Eude
Eude, the booster is made by Villex and boosts mid range frequencies by 3, 5 or 7db. This is the web address. http://eu.villex.com/internal_booster.html Apologies for the rubbish photography but here are some pics. They really don't do justice to what is a beautiful bass, and pictures can't describe the great sound!
 8. Finally picked the beast up a few days ago (pics to follow). It is absolutelybeautiful and the best investment I have ever made! All of you who have moaned about Jon's "customer service" / poor response to e-mails / etc - as soon as you lay your hands on the bass all of that pales into insignificance. But crucially - not only does it look good, it sounds AWESOME. Took it to band rehearsal last night and all the band (yes, even guitarists) commented on how good it sounded, and I normally use an American P Bass so they're not comparing it to rubbish! All of you out there thinking about taking the plunge and considering a Shuker bass - go for it. You won't be disappointed.
 9.
Looks nice, and by the specs, simple but effective.
Exactly right - simple (a bit like me!). I'm not a great fan of fancy, elaborate instruments. To be honest, my dream bass has always been a mid 70's natural finish jazz, but being a lefty my chances of finding one (particularly at a sensible price) are pretty slim. That's one of the main reasons I chose the custom route. Read lots of good things about Jon's work on here, went to visit him and fell in love with a R/H natural jazz he's got in stock. My spec is almost the same as that, just all the other way round. I'll be picking up next week (apologies to several of you who are tantalisingly close to completion) and will let you know what it's like.
 10.
12 weeks? What kind of a wait is that?? I've waited almost as long to get served in Sound Control!
And the moral of the story is....... (Jon Shuker 1 Sound Control 0)
 11. Ready to collect this weekend. Here are latest set of pics.
 12. Spoke to Jon today, mine will be ready for collection this weekend. 12 weeks from when I ordered it and right on time. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
 13. As far as I'm concerned, I'm prepared to put up with less than perfection in terms of answering e-mails, sending pics, etc, to get the quality of instrument Jon produces. His prices are also extremely reasonable compared to others I have seen. If he increases his costs just to improve customer service, and reflects this in his prices, I would not be happy. Jon is a craftsman, not a secretary!
 14. Here are a couple of pics of mine Jon sent last week. As you can see, about the same stage as yours, Tinman. Hoping to complete within a couple of weeks.
 15. Jon has now sent me first set of pics. Just pieces of wood at this stage but shows the fabulous wood grain. Bass will be natural finish so grain will look great, along with birds eye maple fingerboard.
 16.
Sounds like it's going to be great. Natural finish?
Yes, natural. If you look at Jon's website and click on "Stock" it's virtually the same as the first one shown (but L/H)
 17.
Nice one! I's all happening for Jon at the minute. BTW Did he happen to talk about if or when he's moving out of the place he's in at the minute?
He didn't mention anything about moving
 18.
I went into Guitar Center a couple days ago and I saw a black Fender P-Bass in the store on sale! I figured I wouldn't let the chance to get it pass me up so I bought it! The only problem was that it didn't come with a bag or anything...but oh well, I figure I can get it next time... Also, I really love the way my bass sounds when I play it :-D
Welcome to the world of Fender players. The oldest, but still the best.
 19. Fed up with lack of L/H basses available so having pored over Jon's website for a few weeks I finally paid him a visit last week and took the plunge. He has a natural swamp ash Jazz in stock (right handed) which looks (and sounds) absolutely fantastic and I have ordered a L/H version with a couple of modifications. Full spec is: 4 string J bass swamp ash body, rear routed for controls, the more modern shape, carved heel etc,. polyester basecoat wet look gloss topcoat maple neck birdseye maple board black block markers carbon fibre reinforcement two way truss rod bone nut 21 frets medium frets red Leds gotoh tuners Gotoh bridge black scratchplate Fat Jazz pickups vol / balance / tone booster / tone(push pull for switching LEDs) neutrik locking jack Has promised me some pics as the build develops so will post when I get them. I can't wait to get my hands on what I'm sure will be an awesome bass.
 20. I'm a "true" lefty. That is, left handed and play a left handed bass. Have only ever owned lefties. Started with a Squier P bass, have since owned MM Stingray and now have American P and Mexican J. looking to possibly order a Shuker later this year if funds permit. I am thoroughly p****d off by visiting music shops only to find a pathetic selection of cheapo, copy left handed basses. Can we lefties rise up and defeat the bourgeois, right handed establishment? Power to the people and all that!
 21.
will deffo do till i get what im saving for and thats a musicman stingray!!!
I used to have a MM Stingray, sold it and now play Mexican Jazz similar to yours. Actually prefer this to the Stingray so don't assume the Stingray is better without making sure!
 22.
No question i would recommend Shuker, best bass that i have ever played!, Theres a quite a few Shuker owners on this site, and 1 very lucky Dood who has an endorsement. All Shuker basses are available L/H no extra charge. take a look at my bass HERE
What a fantastic looking bass, and it's the right way round! Tell me to mind my own business if you want but how much did it cost (PM if you prefer) I gather Shuker are in Sheffield. Not too far away from me. I feel a visit coming up.
 23.
well i've had my share of Pbass copies, switched to warwick and have recently added a rather nice shuker Jazz to my collection...its so frustrating seeing all those basses in the shop and not being able to have a proper go (you don't get a proper feel for a bass holding it upside down)
Had a look at the Shuker site. They're really nice looking basses. Would you recommend? Do they do all models L/H? Which model have you got?
 24.
I'm a lefty in the sense that I write with my left hand. Apart from that, right handed bass playing, right handed mouse use, right footed for football, right joystick, scissors in either....blah blah blah. When I started bass, playing right handed just felt right to me, trying to play left just felt odd. It's probably down to the fact that I'm quite well co-ordinated with both hands now seeing as I do most stuff with the right, yet the left sees use for writing/drawing/painting eg.
I'm a bit mixed up like you, Buzz. I seem to do every one-handed thing with my left hand (keep it clean guys!) such as writing, throwing a ball, holding a spoon, yet most two-handed things like holding a cricket bat or knife and fork I do right handed. I'm also right footed. Holding a bass or guitar right handed just feels totally wrong, which I find a real pain because of the lack of leftie instruments around. I guess one day I might actually go for a custom built bass, but not sure I can justify the expense. What have the rest of you lefties who actually play left handed done? I'm a Fender man so have an American P and Standard (Mexican) J as these are virtually the only leftie's Fender do. They also do the De Luxe J left-handed but only in a couple of finishes, and not Natural which I quite like.
 25.
another lefty here, when i started to play, i tried to learn to play right handed as i was aware of the problems when it came to getting gear, it just didn't take so i started to learn left handed not looked back since. it is frustrating about the lack of gear out there but i think it has got better in recent years guitar guitar for example actually do a pretty good selection of lefty guitars and basses, The extra 15-20% some manufacturers take is annoying to say the least, however they choose to justify it.
Guitar Guitar??? Who are they. Do they have a web site?
