1. Thanks for the advice. I’ve ordered and ifs due to arrive early next week so I’ll try that. Cheers
2. I normally go into amp and cab rather than DI into PA so interested to know how best to use this to get Ampeg sound and a bit of drive. I’ve got a GK Fusion so could go into front or effects return or if also got an Ashdown Ant so could use that as it’s really just a power amp. Any suggestions? Thanks
3. Hi. I'm a recent convert to PJB gear having just bought a BG400 and C4 extension cab from Bass Direct. Any tips / recommendations on EQ settings / gain vs master, etc.
4. I'm selling my Ashdown MAG 115 cab to create a bit of space. Couple of minor nicks in the cloth covering but other than that in perfect working order. 8 ohms 250w Will accept reasonable offer
5. Thanks Bigwan. I’ve had a look and replied. Ideally wanted the VS as it’s 8ohm rather than 4 but struggling to find either
6. Hi is this still for sale. Very interested. Where are you based?
7. Dont’t suppose anyone out there has an Ashdown VS212 cab for sale? I know they’re discontinued but I’m really keen to buy one. Can anyone help?
8. Anyone interested? If not I'll have to resort to the dreaded ebay!
9. I've decided to put these 2 cabs up for sale. Sorry about the rubbish photos but both are in excellent condition and perfect working order. I have put castors on the Markbass but these could easily be removed if preferred. Both are 8 Ohms. Would prefer to sell together for simplicity but happy to split. Markbass is £400 (currently £806 at GAK) and £100 for the Ashdown (cheapest I can see online is £189). Would accept £450 for the pair. May accept part trade but only for Markbass Traveller 102P in very good condition. Collection would be best (I live between Lincoln and Newark, 10 mins from A1) or may be able to meet halfway depending on where. 10. I'll try 2 210s and stach em vertically then Cheers, I've learnt something today
11. Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'll probably stick with the GK, which is a great little amp, and invest in another Markbass 210 to get the matching pair (and save about £250). Interested in the comment about stacking them vertically. Do you find this makes a big difference?
12. Looked at this amp in Denmark St yesterday and not sure what to do. Currently use a GK Fusion and 2 cabs (an Ashdown 15 & a Markbass 2 x 10) but fed up lugging the 15 around so thinking of changing to the Markbass 12 combo plus my 2 x 10. Only playing pubs / small clubs so assume that'll give enough volume and so much easier / lighter to carry. Suppose I could keep the GK head (which I like) and just get another Markbass 2 x 10 cab. Anyone got any thoughts? Thanks
13. It is!!! Really pleased. Great sound, bags of power (can't imagine anyone needing the MB800, unless they're playing the O2!) and fits in my laptop bag. Only played it at home so far but will gig this Friday and hopefully it'll be cool
14. Decided to bite the bullet and ordered an MB Fusion from Thomann. Should be here early next week so hoping it's as good as most people seem to rate it
15. Thanks for all the comments - really useful. I guess the real answer is to track down a stockist (hopefully Electro in Doncaster as they're not too far away) and try them out. Mudpup, I play a Precision and get on fairly well with the ABM so you could be right.
16. Thanks for the reply, Lozz. I currently use an Ashdown EVO111 but always keen to reduce the amount of gear to lug about, hence looking at a micro. If you have any experience of the Ashdown, how do you think the Fusion compares totally?
17. Been looking at these 2 amps and not sure which to go for. The new 800 gives more volume / headroom but not really sure I need it (mainly playing pubs and small clubs). Playing mainly classic rock and blues and really like a round, mellow sound (I think that describes it) so wonder whether the Fusion's valve preamp would suit better. I know the MB Fusion 800 is out soon but not sure it warrants the extra £250ish. What does anyone advise?
18.
Is it me that's mad here or everyone else? For my views on Markbass check out my sig Mike! Alex posted saying HE didn't rate Markbass cabs, I simply replied that I thought this thread was about combos not cabs, which I think it is/was? So yes, I rate Markbass cabs, Markbass heads and Markbass combos. Did I leave out anything? I'm going to the pub
Maybe I'm falling into the same trap of not reading threads properly. Thought you were agreeing with the comment that Markbass were good for combos but less so for cabs. My original comment was responding to the suggestion that Bassman2790 could try a lightweight cab with head rather than a combo. Having said all that......see you down the pub
19.
Agreed, although I thought we were talking combos? I really should read the whole thread before replying Chris
You don't rate Markbass cabs?
20.
A viable option. I think it may be the route to take. Any suggestions?
I use a Markbass 410 cab which is much lighter than most 4 x 10s and sounds great (I use it with an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro). Comes without castors but a trip to the local DIY store and 20 minutes with a screwdriver put that right.
21. Hard to believe anyone could be anything but impressed by this bassline (even a non-bass player) Saw Norman Watt Roy playing it last year, really close up (when he was touring with Wilko / The Hamsters / John Otway). Otway introduced it as a bassline no one else could play but the guy on YouTube does a bloody good job. If you're going to play it live - good luck.
22. 5 for me. Shuker Jazz American Fender P Mexican Fender Jazz Aria fretless Crafter acoustic But still only 2 arms to play them with!
