  1. Wow! Nicely done! There’s hope for this old dog yet!
  2. Yeah I contacted one, very quick reply and for a guitar I have they said they’d give £435 as they’d sell for £650 but when I actually searched they’d sold similar modes for more like £700-800. I’ve never even heard of bass bros. Seems like I need to do some serious research. I only even thought about it cuz Facebook started shoving it down my throat!
  3. Happy birthday! I dunno. I’m a glass half empty kinda fella! I guess I mean things are really slowing down for me on the music side now. I’m done playing in bands, I can’t see myself ever playing live again, so it’s just home recording and teaching for me. It feels very much like retirement considering I used to manage a recording/rehearsal place too!
  4. Not sure if this is even allowed so please delete if not mods! I would of course list things for sale here anyway… but… I keep seeing ads on Facebook like ‘sell your guitars’ etc. Richtone music, bax music and fat bottom guitars have been pushed to me today. has anyone had any experience of this? It says free quotes so I suppose I may as well find out what they’d offer. I’m guessing not incredible prices as they have to make money after all. It could be a quicker, less hassle way of doing things? I’ve never done it before so I figured find out from those who have
  5. Indeed it was! How did you get on with trimming your collection down Davie? Although that was some years ago, it may well have grown again!
  6. Yeah I know, I know… I don’t really need either right now to be fair, I’m just trying to be realistic as to what I’m going to use as I enter into the twilight years (43 tomorrow!). It’s funny though, the decision was so much easier on the ones I’ve sold so far… so I guess that’s my answer!
  7. Hey! I wondered where you’d gone! Hope you’re well? Here are some more pics of that one. It’s a one off Peavey made for Ken Achard (head of Peavey UK operations at the time I think) who was the author of the book The Peavey Revolution. He included a pic of it in that book, and I’d been lusting after it for years. One day it came up for sale and I just couldn’t resist!
  8. yeah that’s exactly what I fear, parting with something, regretting it, then searching hoping it shows up again… but it never does. I have that enough about things I should’ve bought but didn’t! I do agree, and I’m trying to be sensible! I owned about 5 acoustic guitars, sold them and bought one really nice one, that’s great for recording. Electric guitars I’ve whitled down to 4 different types (LP, LP jr, 12 string & a semi hollow body) I’m trying to take the same approach to bass but I find it harder! I’ll definitely always keep a T-40 for recording as they’re versatile. I’m currently trying to build an arsenal of different sounds, so I’m thinking about a fretless (T-40FL would of course be the dream!) and also a Bass VI. I’m struggling to let go though!
  9. Behold my collection of vintage Peavey basses! I’ve had most of these for a long time now but I’m moving into a stage in my life where I no longer play in a band, or gig at all. So realistically I no longer need these. Gulp. I’ve sold so much of my collection over the last few years, to buy things to use for home recording. Somehow these keep avoiding the cull!! those who’ve seriously trimmed down on their collection of splendid things… did you regret it?!
  10. yes indeed! Good ear! it’s labella flats on that Hofner club bass. It’s weird, I’m used to going for a very aggressive roundwound trebly punk kind of tone, but on this particular ongoing project, I always feel like the bass sits better in the mix when it’s the hofner with flats. I bought that bass on a whim years ago and have actually used it for loads of recordings! There’s also something about it that just makes it so much fun to play these types of bass lines thanks for taking the time to listen!
  11. Snakeoil Salesmen - Just Keep Swimming another new song and another music video! Safe to say I’m fully into this home recording lark now!
  12. Hi, yeah both 4x10 cabs are still available at the moment
  13. I just purchased a couple of pedals from Paul. Top guy, a great deal on a couple of very well looked after effects pedals, well packaged and all sorted really quickly. Much appreciated!
  14. Snakeoil Salesmen - Flogging a Dead Horse I made a little music video for this short song I wrote about starting to write a song, realising it’s rubbish and giving up on it
  15. Amp sold today so just the 2 cabs left… send me a message if you’re interested
  16. Agreed! no updates, and no trade offers at the moment sadly but I’ve had lots of messages on FB and eBay asking me to split it up and sell various bits…. I could but… Maybe I’ll just keep it!
  17. I have too many guitars! I’ve decided to sell a bunch of guitars and buy one really expensive one… so next up in my clear out is acoustic guitars Ibanez EW20ZWE - good overall condition but does have a couple of fairly big dings and some lacquer cracks it’s had since bought new in 2007 (which I have email proof of if required). 18. Yeah I thought so! You’d be surprised how many people love that logo… it’s just not for me. Excellent amps and cabs though!
  19. Thanks for replying, yeah I’ve tested the speaker both with a multimeter and audio tested it with a different amp. So the speaker is fine, I did try cleaning the speaker out and headphone jack sockets as I figured they were maybe dirty enough to be falsely stopping the signal (as if a jack was plugged in). That made no difference… Perhaps I should have another go! I just expected some kind of result from that and when I didn’t get one, I wasn’t sure where to look next!
  20. Hey, I have an old ashdown perfect 10 bass combo. I got it free years ago because it didn’t work, it’s not really worth anything but I’m always interested in learning how to fix things. It power on but no sound (not even hiss from the speaker). I’m getting sound from the headphone and external speaker jacks and everything seems to work well that way, but nothing at all from the built in speaker. I tested the speaker separately and that works fine. what would be the next thing you’d check?
  21. I’m pretty pleased with these 4 songs I’ve just recorded. I played bass, drums, guitars, keyboards and did all vocals… which I’ve done before… but for the first time I also recorded it all. Normally I’d use a local studio but I don’t have time these days, so I have to do little bits here and there. here’s a few places you can listen and download if you like Youtube Bandcamp Soundcloud
  22. My blackheart guitar stack is up for sale! Sadly it just doesn’t get used anymore as I don’t play in bands these days, seems a shame for it to be sat in storage! - Handsome Devil 15w (switchable down to 7w) tube amp with Alnico Magnet Taz & dual rectifier mods installed. - Two 1x12 eminence loaded speaker cabs - Rock-Wire speaker leads - Roqsolid Covers All in very good condition and to be honest, very little use. I took the logos off but they’re included if you want them, and I even still have the original boxes! Collection only Plymouth Trade/part exchange offers welcome as I always like trying new guitars, basses, drums etc etc
  23. 2014 Epiphone acoustic guitar, model EJ-45, good condition overall but with some signs of use (little dings and scrapes here and there - but nothing that spoils the look). New Ernie Ball Earthwood strings put on for the sale, so it’s good to go. £200. Collection Plymouth Always interested in trade/part exchange offers for other music gear. Guitar, bass and drum stuff mainly.
  24. Mario just bought a pedal off me, quick payment and prompt and friendly communication throughout. Thanks!
