1. Cheers Chris, I can wait till the new year no problems! Whereabouts in London are you?
2.
Whitstable any good to you..?
Could be a bit further than I would like but I won't rule it out :-)
3. I did send a PM to Chris but had no reply, not sure wether there is a problem with messenger
4. Hi all, Anybody know of any reputable double bass teachers in Kent or south east London? I have contacted a couple but have had no reply to emails and no answers from their mobiles! It's almost like they don't need the money! haha Cheers
5. Used to own one, a GMR Bassforce 4 (bought from Bass Merchant) very nice but I didn't hang on to it for long as I was going through a spell of GAS at the time and moved it on. Nice attention to detail (wooden pickup covers, wooden knobs) nice woods used, the sound was a bit sterile from what I remember.
6. Hi all, I am thinking of venturing into the world of double bass and have been looking at the Thomann website and wondered what was the dfifference between a normal double bass and a semi massive double bass? Not heard that term before and just thought it was normally just a size difference (3/4, 4/4 etc.) Cheers!
7. Kenny bought my EHX Enigma Q Balls, smooth transaction and a quick payment! Cheers mate
8. has anyone had a stock list yet? I emailed them but no reply
9. Definitely try one if you can, I did and bought it on the spot! No issues with the fanned frets, they are very natural and the tone is brilliant. The frets are also banjo size which are more like the vintage frets on Fender American Vintage basses which I prefer anyway.
10. haha no worries! Looks like Mark had a good day sales wise then
11.
I was the haggardly looking chap that blustered in while you were playing. It sounded wonderful, love the colour scheme on it too.
Coincidence! Which amp did you decide on in the end?
12.
Oh not a Dingwall!! They're rubbish! All the frets are wonky and they weigh next to nothing averaging 7-7.5lbs! The pickups are all handmade and they sound too loud even when passive. What on earth possessed you to get one, mate. Are you sick or something?
I didn't think you would like it
13. The fanned frets are really easy to get used to, as soon as I picked it up it was very comfortable, I am a convert! I have to say the colour is very striking, even better in the flesh/wood
14. I am one happy bunny, and Mark was really helpful in letting me try out all the Dingwalls. Can't believe I never tried one sooner, so easy to play and such an amazing B string!!!
15. I also have the flashback delay and the corona chorus and both work really well, the chorus is lovely! TC have definitely produced some great pedals with these
16. I have the dark matter and it's very impressive, very clear and no loss of bass frequencies
17. ok, I have heard that the passive AB1 sounds like an active output wise and I suppose an amp has a preamp so probably no need for the active! (and it would save about £200!!)
18. Just wondered if anyone on here with Dingwall AB1 experience has tried the active and passive versions? Did you think it made a big difference? Were there more useful tones from the active? or is the passive good enough? Is the active worth the extra money? Thanks in advance!
