2. i might be selling my Ampeg SVP BSP preamp. Not 100% sure yet so i thought i'd put out a feeler. Its in mint condition and ive had it since new, still got manual and i think i still have the receipt! its got very slight racking wear on the ears but thats all. The only reason i would be selling it is that i havent used it in over a year now, and its just gathering dust. Like i said im not 100% sure yet, but if i do decide to sell i would be looking for £300 If anyones intrested i will ofcourse sort some pics out.

How do they compare to say a SVT classic? I ask that because i used to own a classic so i know what they sound like.
  6. Selling (open to trades) my Ampeg SVT4 pro. Ive had it for about 4 years, only selling cause i just fancy a change. Its in mint condition and has been racked the whole time i have have it. Im sure everyone pretty much knows the spec so i wont list them, i also still have the manual. i am open to offers but im looking for around £650 as its in mint condition. As for trades i am looking mainly for another amp, Im intrested in a SVT3 or similar, so that plus cash would be cool... I live in Nottingham would be willing to meet halfway or will deliver (within reason) for petrol money. (Rack case in pics is not included) Thanks for looking!
  7. Hi, Anybody wanna do a swap deal, SVT 4 for a SVT 2?? The SVT 4 is in mint condition and is and has always been racked. I want a valve amp again...

    Sans amp

Hi guys, i got a question regarding Sansamp. I have the Sansamp RBI, and i was wondering how would be the best way to use it? Would it be best just to use as a 'clever DI' as mentioned above and have the uneffected signal going to my rig, or use it with my amp somehow???? I'm not to keen on using instead of the preamp stage in my amp, so i am leaning more towards just using it as a DI. Just wondering what you guys would do???? My amp(s) are an Ampeg SVT CL or Ashdown ABM - 500 RC depending on the gig...
  14.
BJ, that's appalling. Ashdown seems to have really lost its way of late. I wonder if this is one of the new Made In C**na ABMs?
Just packed the amp in its box ready for collection tomorrow, it doesn't say it anywhere on the amp itself, but on the box written in huge print are the words "MADE IN CHINA".......
  15. yeah it was brand new. the shop has agreed to straight swap it and pay for all the courier costs! also Ashdown themselves have been rather helpful, so i can't complain about customer service! fingers crossed that the replacement amp don't blow either......
  16. Yeah ran ABM 500 through a Ampeg 8x10. Sounded awesome till my head blew up!!! (See other topic)
  17. Just bought a brand new Ashdown ABM-500 RC EVO II and i used it today in practise for the first time. It was fine for about 15mins, then there was a really strong burning smell and the amp just shut down and won't turn on again!!!! Very weird! does anyone know why this might of happened? I wasn't driving the amp that hard.... the input was at about 9 o'clock and the VU meter was no where near the red, and the output volume was at 12 o'clock......
  18.
I've never played an Ampeg, but I went through the same dilemma when buying my last amp. Tried out the Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II RC and decided that I didn't need to try the Ampeg out, as the Ashdown was exactly the sound I was after. Over on T***Bass there's a lot of posts saying the SVT-3 is underpowered, whereas the Ashdown sounds a lot louder than it's 575W. The Ashdown was a good couple of hundred quid cheaper than the Ampeg too which helped, www.soundslive.co.uk at £499
Yeah, decided to go with the Ashdown and bought it from Soundslive! i Think its getting delivered tomorrow! Thanks for all the advice everyone, i decided on the Ashdown simply as I'm keeping my SVT Classic anyway i thought there was no point owning another Ampeg. Plus the Ashdown is alot cheaper if using as a backup/cant be bothered to break my back taking the svt to a small gig amp. lol I'll post back in a few days and tell you what i think about the differance between my SVT and the Ashdown if anyones intrested!

    ESP/LTD
I owned a F205 with EMG HZ pickups. My problem with the LTD series instruments is that they have sod all character to the sound (IMHO) Most of the players I see using the F or be series basses have horribly scooped sounds - too much bass and hissy top end that gets lost amongst guitars and cymbals which totally screw a band's onstage mix.
Thats because of the HZ pickups, belive me proper EMG's make a HUGE differance! The HZ do sound all muddy and lifeless, but my ESP with the EMG 35's in has a real nice punchy sound that cuts through everything, i do use a Ampeg SVT classic tho so that might have something to do with it!
