1. Big thanks for that info chaps  My input has been intermittent on my Warwick Thumb and Farnell have none of these in stock at the moment - they use original US Switchcraft but these Maplins ones are a steal considering they have free postage as well!! I splashed out and got two at this ridiculously low price :) :) I love the information I can get from Basschat!! :D

  2.
I might be interested in trading one of my Wal basses for a sixties Fender. The middle one in this picture is no more, so select the top bass or the bottom bass. More details and pictures available. I am in Worcester, but travel.

    Thanks

    Steve
OH LORDY!!!!!! what a delectable trio!!

    One word though......

     WHY????

  3.
... anything like this (apart from the changed bridge/pickups/knobs!) ??.... :-

Aye, funny how time dulls the memory, thought they were a bit sexier than that.... :)

  4.
They had a walnut one of these in Maurice Plaquet's when I was working their as a Saturday boy in the late 70s.
It was my favourite bass in the shop. I used to spend ages thinking up ways to steal it without getting caught.
I loved the walnut Kramers back in the late 70's, I too lusted after one that hung on the wall in White's in Sunderland :) As I recall it was a king's ransom at around £400 - bearing in mind I was on £22 a week back then I could only dream :) good luck with the sale

  5. WOW! What a blast from the past. That amp is the same as my first PA amp one or two years back :) Amazing people hung onto these, I always needed a hand to lift it anywhere :)

Good luck with the sale, have a nostalgic bump on me

  6.
What's the scale length on this bass, is it a 35"? Any trades accepted or sale only?
Yes it's a 35'' scale, and for sale only for reasons above chuck :D

Hang on, that sounded like I was in Coronation Street :) :)

  7.
I've played Warwicks for 20 odd years and despite dabbling with a multitude of other basses I always come back to Warwick; in particular the NT Streamers (the earlier the better)... my Corvette/Infinette comes a close 2nd.

A couple of recent GAS purchases have reinforced that I'm sticking to my Warwick (i.e. they are up for sale), though I'll still admire other basses.
That is an amazing collection Mr Hunt :)

  8. Well, got to say we - and a full house at the beautiful Sage - had a great night, band were superb particularly the new young drummer - megga and super tight playing to click (barring the last few songs where his cans came off and they really let rip) and the rest of the band were bang on. Jumping with a crowd that appeared to stun the band with the reception they got throughout the night, and a nice touch taking the time to shake hands with everyone they could down the front when they came on, and then again at the end for a good five minutes - 30 years in the business and still savvy enough to remember who put them there in their heyday and beyond, easy enough to do, but a trick missed by many

Mind you - the alternative thread on here is proving almost as entertaining :) :) :) :D

Perhaps Mark King will be sitting in his big house counting his cash, surrounded by all his top guitars and gear wondering how he can appease all the hatred for him, his playing style, and his awful tone according to some Basschat members...

    ....or maybe not :(

  9.
can i bump again?
What a stunning bass at a bargain price IMO. But the lack of a sale typifies how folks are holding onto their cash at the moment or simply do not have anything to spend :)

I bet a lot of folks on here will look back at this in a few months time and say 'if only'...

If this had come up 8 months ago it would have probably been mine, mind you it would have been back up for sale again as me and five strings don't get on now

Have a bump on me :o

  10.
Terrific, highly underrated basses, these
Cheers for the heads up Spoombung, I think either everyone is skint or wary of making an offer on a tremendous value bass :) Thought this would have been snapped up by now

    Roll up! Rollup!

  11. Been similar postings on here before and I passed my tip on somewhere else on here but it works well. To get that string totally clean try half a dishwasher tablet in a pan of boiling water and boil up till the scum from the string rises to the top, reboil in clean water and rinse under the cold tap and dry with kitchen towel. Almost better than new :) and great if you have no replacements at hand and are desperate to refresh what you have!

  12. This is indeed a cracking bass for the price, I have it on very good authority that if you compare one of these with a Fender precision the sound from these basses will be just as good  I would think that any competent DIYer will be able to bring this back to good as new if required, have a bump on me :)
