1.
As far as I can see this one looks in great condition, very unusual to see the bridge pup cover still in place, they are usually the first thing to get removed/lost, just like real Ricks.'

As you can see from the pictures she's in amazing condition for the age.
Is it an invisible one?

     :o :o :P :)

  2. Up for grabs is my Peavey Cirrus BXP with a lush bubinga faced top.

It's a thru neck with pau ferro fingerboard, with two pups and treb, mid and bass cut/boost. Very lightweight and some great sounds. A very underrated bass IMO, extremely well made, and yours for £275.

It's for sale only, and I can possibly meet a prospective buyer if not too far from the Northeast.

Feel free to ask for any more info :)

  3.
I had a 6 string version of this, great sound from the EMG pickups - very modern sounding. Price is bang on :).
Cheers Machines  the sound is indeed great from the EMG's, the bridge pup vol in particular has a neat way of changing the tone if you back it off slightly from full up, but the variety of tones from both pups along with the treble and bass cut/boost makes it very versatile. The lads in our band loved the sound so much they told me to take the B string off and just play it as a four string!! :o

I just bought a Warwick Thumb NT from jimbobothy on here ;) :o and I need to get rid of two basses that are now surplus, this Spector is sitting in the living room laughing at me  :P

  4. SOLD pending the usual is my Amberburst Spector Legend 5 string.

I bought this to find out what a fiver was like and quickly realised that singing and playing one of these is a tad more tricky than I imagined :)

    I gave up

It's a lovely bass with a great sound and is in excellent condition.

It's for sale only, I could possibly drive to meet a buyer depending on how far from the Northeast you are. It'll go to a new home for £325.

Feel free to ask for any further info

Sorry about pic quality, used my mobile.

  5. Amazing what turns up on here  I watched this after falling asleep on the settee and waking to find it on at about 2.30am :) I was well impressed with this guy and I too wondered what the bass was. Great player and the producer did indeed do him justice, great band and great singers too!

  6.
After a year of pretty heavy gigging and writing, we're off to the studio and I decided I wanted to try a fretless. So I've defretted this neck, with some instruction and guidance from Jon.

The process was quite simple and the finish is great. I just need a bit of reconstruction and then its ready!
Swot  :)
    Looks megga that Chris!

  7. As a bassist of over 30 years I am now the proud owner of a '98 Thumb which I've just bought from jimbobothy on here. I let one of the early models of these beautiful things pass me by back in the mid/late eighties. I baulked at the £650 price tag and boy have I ever regretted not getting that particular bass way back then... That feeling continued for all these years, and whilst raising four kids meant spending money on a bass for myself was put on the back burner for quite some time, my chance finally came recently the other week

I knew from way back that the playability of these particular basses was possibly the closest thing to the main bass I have used for the last 25 years, and as I am a lead singer too, my guitar has to virtually play itself when I'm up there making a racket. Despite trying various Fenders, and frankly wondering what all the fuss was about  as well as a myriad of other basses, I still wondered what I may have missed out on all those years back  Enter the Warwick Thumb from jimbobothy (and yes the neck does drop away from me but nowt that I can't manage with), the sound and playabilty are simply superb. I go DI straight through into our JBL VRX PA system and monitor via IEM's, so what the audience hear is just the sound of the bass - I've done this for years and am a big believer in letting the guitar do it's own thing without all the gear in between - each to their own and all that  and it doesn't half save my back these days

This bass is megga. Cuts through the mix great, it's possible to hear everything I'm doing, complete with bum notes :)

I just wish I'd bought that one all those years back.......

Get one, you only live once

  8.
Congrats Johna! Debut this weekend by any chance?
Was just about to pm you me news mate! Ya stalker ya! Aye, unleashing me new beast at Sleepers Friday Gaz, it's an absolute beauty! :)

  9. Top bloke Chris, I bought his Spector and he sent me some great pics first, then even agreed to meet me halfway at Wetherby services to clinch the deal and part with the guitar.

He even cut off his dreadlocks to make himself more presentable :)

Highly recommend him for any transaction!

  10.
Mine is a G-1 sliding pickup version. Tuners are good strings are good too. I think its the bridge if its anything. No one seems to make a direct replacement bridge for it though. I dont fancy drilling holes in it if it can be helped.
You tried tightening the poziscrew in the middle of the cog? Sometimes this is all that is required, I've done it to mine and it makes a difference. I think it's more likely to be this end of the neck than your bridge........ :)

I have got one of these which I fitted to my fretless last year, had it for years and it was originally supplied and fitted to my headless by Howard Satterley at his BassPlace. :)
If you have a single passive pick up bass such as a precision - my fretless is half an Ibanez Blazer with split P type - this little baby will make your bass sing!!!

If I didn't already have one I would have snapped this up now  Check them out on EMG's website, you can even tweak them with two microswitches on the circuit board inside.

Have a bump on me pal1972

My mate Baz introduced me to this bloke after a gig they'd done together, he said we had the same thing in common - our initials are the same apparently  . After one or two beers :) he rather kindly gave me his plectrum too

  13. Yes, I certainly do try to make some sort of tuneful racket to accompany the lyrics  As I am am our main singer amongst my fellow musician/singers - two guitarists and a drummist. The two guitarists sing a song apiece and the drummer chips in with backing vocals to make up four part harmony, but in the main I am the frontman/bassist/showoff. Although I started band life as just a basic singer, when I was 14 and our first bassplayer got the sack (oh yes we were serious teenagers  )I was told I had to make myself more useful and pick up the bass and sing as well... :) Guitarists  sheesh, easy life man, they had too many pedals to press apparently
Anyway that was thirty four years ago and I'm still trying to marry those two totally counterpoint skills together and make some sort of coherent racket with my voice and my bass at the same time............
It's a neat trick when it can be pulled off, and the two most complex songs I think I have ever done are Rat Trap (Boomtown Rats) and Lonely Boy(Andrew Gold). The vocals and bass line in each song are absolutely miles apart and took me ages to crack. For me, McCartney was very underrated in his skills at doubling the two, Sting as well did some clever stuff and made it look effortless. Mark King got the recognition he deserved, I've seen him live and his ability to sing over complex bass lines is truly incredible, and his bass virtuosity is a bonus
