1.
AND??

small list of examples follows:

INSTRUMENTS WHAT LOOK LIKE A BIT LIKE A JAZZ / PRECISION BASS:
ESP
FERNANDEZ
LAKLAND
PEAVEY
YAMAHA
IBANEZ
PENSA SUHR
JACKSON
CHARVEL
SQUIER (LICENSED COPY)
AND LOADS MORE....
might I point out that the reason most things look a bit like a fender is because they are very balanced and playable, the reason basses don't look like les pauls is IMO because les pauls play like tea crates, are ridiculously heavey and when sporting a 34" scale tend to be very neck heavy.

2. Just realised I didn't say anything about the 1000. I love it! You really can't go wrong with matsumoko build quality and the tone and playability is to die for. It's a real shame that the "lesser", for want of a better word arias and other matsumoko instruments don't get as much attention as the SB 1000.

3. I have an SB II elite (basically a 900) which I adore. I was very jealous of a guy I was in college with who had a 700 that I loved. Now that we're on the subject. What's the difference between the elite and the 900? The only obvious difference I can see is the finishes.

4. I found pics of the bass. I have to say I like it and the price is very reasonable. I just wish it had eb-3 sort of circuitry with a pickup switch and vol and tone for each pickup. And some F holes wouldn't go a miss, nore would a trapeze bridge. What was the balance like?it looks head heavy

5. So I was in my local music shop the other day and I noticed a wall full of what appeared to be gretsch White falcons and town and countries and everything in between "crikey" I thought. So I went for a look. Upon closer inspection they were not gretsch at all. They were branded "peerless" and I could not believe how well made they were. Definatly on a par with any of the ibanez and epiphone hollow bodies, every one of them was sporting a real bigsby and was beautifully made. I'm just wondering if a they make basses and b if they are as good as they look. I've long gassed for a hollow body but never seen an eb2 I could afford and there's something about the ibanez ones I don't like the look of.

6. The original needed no improving! I'd love a ripper mind. The grabber definatly has it's place in my heart and deserves it's place in the hall of fame, not as an alternative to a p but of it's own accord, the early greenday records have awesome bass tone and were recorded on a grabber, ed from thrice works magic with his too. Never under estimate the power of the grabber :)

7. I do like a nice bolt on mind. It's a cool looking bass, and a short scale. I'm suffering terrible matsumoku gas at the moment so westones and arias are pretty high on the list. Is the trem on yours an addition?

8. Cheers dude. I'll hold off on this one and see if I can get a twin pup I reckon. I'd just never seen one before and it caught my eye. What would you say was a fair price?

9. So there's an aria tsb (Thor Sound Bass) on eBay that's tempting me. I'm just after some info on them. What's the tone like? What's the quality like? How does it compare to an SB? Has anyone got any experience with them?

10. I have an original example in maple. In honesty it's the best sounding bass I own and I have a lot of variation in my armoury (trace t bass, peavey T-40, aria sb, cij 60s jazz) it's s one trick pony though, there's not a massive difference in tone no matter where the pickup is.. With a fresh set of rotos and a sans amp it has the most beautiful warm vintage tone you could imagine through my svt-4 pro. Stick a guv'nor in the mix aswell and you have some seriously dirty death from above 1979 style grit/snarl/growl. However, it's prone to intonation problems in hot venues. If I move around too much (which I do alot) it has a habit of going out of tune (in an average set it does normally go from drop c to drop d to standard 2 or 3 times mind). It's quite a high output pickup, feed back is very easy to achieve and control. It's biggest problem and the only reason I tend to pick my jazz up over it is it's neck dive issues, the body lends itself nicely to agressive playing styles and it's feather light so long sets are no problem.

Finding replacement parts is a ball ache, the bridge is sh*te and no one makes a direct replacement that I know of (if any one does please let me know, the tuners are pretty bomb proof though (schaller bm's I believe).

With all this in mind I say get one. If you don't like it you'll have no problem shifting it to me :) for all it's short fallings it really is a loveable rougue. I'm sure it will bring you great enjoyment.
