1. I'm reminded of this.

Chaps, it's new years eve - I'm not expecting you to be arguing; I'm expecting you to be opening a few fine drinks and celebrating.

I haven't seen anything here worth falling out over, so let's not do so, eh? :)

Any lasting issues, then drop me a PM and we'll have a chat.

Open 'view new content'. Look at the menu side bar at LHS. At the bottom there's 'Filter content'. Click on this. A menu will open, listing all the sub forums. Click on the subforums you like. Now save.

Your new content should henceforward be filtered to reflect your choices and all will be lovely. :)

Bosh! That's how you do it, thanks Skank :)

I'm afraid that for me there is little point in comparing basses of this standard and ability to create a professional recorded or live sound.

To use a festive analogy it's rather like comparing sherry trifle and normal fruit trifle. Probably a matter of personal taste.

Aye, I started with that - but then the OP says he doesn't want our reasons, just our preference. Am not sure what that does beyond revealing that there are horses for courses, mind!

To add to the subjectivity, make mine a Stingray :)

    Hi guys, and happy holidays.

I've been looking at the Hartke HA 3500 head lately, but people tell me that the fan is a bit noisy.
What about the LH 500, is there a difference in sound between the two heads?
Is the LH 500 as good a choice as the HA 3500 has been for many years?

Which head would you choose, and why?

    Thanks

I have the HA3500. No complaints - has served me well, is pretty versatile and will definitely put some power out!

Which scotches the complaint about the fan, a little. I mean, at rehearsal or at a gig - or at any volume - you're not really hearing it :)

I will say, it is heavy, mind!

No experience of the LH500, but happy to field on questions on the HA3500.

    Django's long but damaged fingers:

I've known excellent players with short fingers and stubby hands generally, and average players with long fingers etc.

There's more to it than having a certain kind of physique.

Where have I seen this before... ?

I know what you mean. I got a full driving licence in 1982 - the expiry date is 2034. At the time I thought, 'Ha, ha! That's never going to happen!'. And it hasn't of course... but it's seems a hell of a lot more likely now than it did then.

But then I remember thinking that Prince's '1999' was set in the far future, too - back in 1982. Now it's ancient history. Young master discreet has no idea who Prince even is. Or was. The future is with us. Along with steel basses. And sinister military robot dogs with no heads or asses that can do stuff. It's true.

Not the stealth version, obviously

  7. Really? We'd rule out half the threads on the forum if we discounted people not liking on bass or another

I think, with the EB3, my comment was based upon a little bias, I guess - I think we've convinced ourselves that they're a cheaper bass. I think it's actually pretty cool and should check my bias at the door more often :)

My BC Rich Warlock NT. It's beautiful and sounds immense with it's double P's.
I think a lot of the BC Richs fall into this category - some absolutely thumping basses, but much derided! The NT was a good bass :)

  9. We've done this before, no doubt :)

But... I was thinking it over, as I read through a few recent threads. We have a lot of commentary here about what bass might be best for this, or for that; and I'm sure, whilst we'd argue over which specific bass was best or which brand, I think we've got an approximate sense of what quality is. We know our Fenders from our Squiers; our Rickenbackers from our Rockinbetters; we have our arbiters of taste, and turn a blind eye to every man and his dog playing a couple of time-tested designs ;)

But do we have any guilty pleasures, where we buck the approbation of our peers and bandmates, and pick up something which we know not everyone will like, but which just feels bloody cool to play? :)

I think mine is the Epiphone EB3. I shouldn't like it; I know many don't. But, small body; slim neck; black with rosewood and blocks; and the neck mudbucker... there's something about it :)

    Anyone else?
