Just a note, that we don't allow bumping within 36hrs, if you could rein it in, ta - lets everyone have a chance of having their ad at the top

So,what price range should I put it in?
Worth looking at Ebay and seeing what others have gone, and also running a search of the Marketplace here. -

I keep reminding myself it's got too many strings...
At that price, surely you could forget such a minor flaw? -
One of those on the bass playing "bucket list" for me - I will try one, one day
Where did you go to try all these? -
PM'ed Jon. Timely, need a new one

Networking is king.

Agreed, and the same in most employment.
I started with my current employer via them getting in touch on LinkedIn; and I got my last job over a cup of coffee. It does pay to keep the connections up. -

I think it's the fact he doesn't use them now...
I'd assume this, too - doesn't he play Bongos, now? -
I never even considered a career in music. I've playing since I was a teenager, but it just never entered my mind. Does show how subjective it all is - we will have people wondering why we all turned our backs on our dreams and went off to be wage slaves. Takes all sorts, and BC is richer for it

Thoroughly nice chap and built like an outhouse.

Aw, you say the nicest things! -

Yeah he's got a '74 (IIRC) Jazz, looks all original to me, he still plays it.
I forget you're a Yorkie, too!
It's got some dents it. Big gouge out of the fretboard which was taped up when I last saw it. -
I know Stu, lovely bloke. Had a couple of gigs with his new lot, We Could Be Astronauts. Cat can play!
If it's the same as his current, it'll be a mid-70s jazz. With some stickers his nipper has added -
I assume it was your Orange combo thread? If so, all done
The guys have all been quite correct. Once sold, threads are locked -

On the bass these days I play 5-string so if I need a low D it's on the 3rd fret of the B-string. However a lot of the time I find it more effective to use the D in the same octave as the guitar as it generally sounds better on the bass and tend to tighten up the overall sound of the note in the mix.

From experience, this! -

Been playing bass for a year and have played in simple e a d g. I'm about to join a band which the guitarist plays in drop d. How do you tune a bass to correspond to the drop d guitarist?
DADG, I would assume - you're just dropping the E to a D, no? -
From what I've seen, it looks like it's the younger ones in crisis. We've played a couple of gigs this last year, with some really young bands, who were very concerned that this was their last chance to "make it" - if they got older, or didn't look right, they wouldn't have a hope.
-
I don't think we've seen many Orville by Gibson basses on here!
For those wanting to know a little more, there's some gen online.
Good luck with the sale -
Haha, it's perfectly fine to like Rickenbackers - lots of people on here love them; we just caught hell from John Hall about whether any sales were related to Rickenfakers, and if we thought we were too pretty for prison
Looks like a smashing rig and welcome in -

I'm sure the irony is not only lost on me that most of the negative contributors to this thread would rather carp about other Bassists and musicians who were out playing on NYE (OK, it was recorded earlier) whilst they are sat at home not playing....could be why Swifty can afford a £14k Bass perhaps?
Maybe. I think a few of us need to chin up - it was NYE, a bit of tv and some light entertainment. Nothing to take to heart -

It was a real Burgundy Ric. But with an EB pickup in the neck position and a jazz pickup in the bridge position
Ah, there you go - I've learnt something new, thanks -
Welcome in, matey
-
I had a 44-02, loved it... But agree on the sound, it doesn't get close to the Ray. If you want a Ray, get a Ray - but this is a good bass in its own right.
The neck made it for me. Lovely player. -

Some beard action happening there
*Beard optional extra - please consult your dealer for options -
Anyway, to answer the question properly - if I had some spare cash for indulging myself, I'd quite fancy a BC Rich Greg Weeks Eagle. Unknown on these shores.

or a Burton Ricky would be kinda cool
Was that actually a Ric? I think I'd picked up the suggestion from somewhere that it was a copy - but that would be quite a unique signature for a Rickenbacker!
