14. Ernie Ball all the way. Solid and reliable. Gigged with mine for the better part of 10 years.
15. Of course, needles are still the most accurate (to me at least)
16. Polytune all the way. I hate that Korg display. I wasn't a fan of it on the original pitchblack and this display is just stupid. I like the precision "at a glance" of the Polytune.
17. I should clarify - if you have the blend all the way to clean, you have a clean 2 band EQ. I haven't played this pedal in a LOOONG time and I remember it being always slightly gritty even with the blend to clean. This is not the case, you can have a perfectly clean bass and treble EQ for your clean tone.
18. If you leave the distortion all the way down, you can use it like a "dirty" 2 band EQ. So yes, the EQ affects both your clean and dirty.
19. Just an added note - you may want to go the "purist" route and really get a dedicated mixer for distorting specific frequencies. I do this with a multi amp setup. I usually leave one amp clean and boosting lows, while I use another amp and EQ plus mixer to distort the higher freq and cut all the lower freq. I do this in the studio with fantastic results. Just another option to explore
ah, nice of you to chip in Mr.Excane, that FEA looks awesome. wouldn't you include the Toneczar vault in that, or does that qualify as more of a fuzz ? your demo made me think that it had great distortion qualities.
The Vault is definitely a fuzz, and a very unique one. It's not a frequency specific pedal - meaning you can't fuzz or distort a single freq. or group of frequencies like the other pedals I mentioned. It definitely has extensive tone controls (main voice, treble and bass) but they apply to the ENTIRE spectrum entering the pedal.
