1.
Well they ARE here!

Tried it......bought it within 20 mins.....had it a praco tonite....the frets need dressing but out of the box it plays good.

An interesting touch is on the concentric pots.....the base of these where you dial in your tone are notched.

All in all its nicely weighted, well finished and put together.....very pleasantly suprised initially.....will try to get some photos up in the next few days and give a few more thoughts.....
But what does it SOUND like dude?

  2. Ordered a single B string from these guys on the 27th Aug. The website states that delivery would take 1-3 days, so on the evening of the 31st i sent an email to ask when i could expect delivery as it hadn't arrived. I didn't get a reply, so the following evening i managed to chat to one of their staff members online, who apologised for the delay and told me that for some reason it wasn't listed for despatch until the 3rd Sept. He kindly refunded my postage costs and i thought all was well. It's now the 7th Sept, and i still don't have the string, although i did receive a despatch note via email today, 11 days after i'd ordered. Luckily i didn't need it in a hurry, but i'm still a little pissed off with the service. Needless to say i won't be using this company again.

  3. Have to say i'm really surprised about this. I have used Westside a few times (instore, not online), and i've always thought their customer service was really good. Hope this is just a one-off and you get everything sorted out.
Along the same lines, i'm having a bit of hassle with these people http://www.soundunlimited.co.uk/search_res...CFY1k4wodsX_l3A. Anybody else had trouble here?

  4. Got a load more of this done today. First up was soldering all of the electrical components into place, somthing i don't really like doing, and don't have much confidence in doing, but i figured the worst that could happen if i screw it up is that i admit defeat, spend a few more quid on some more pots, ect, and ask somebody else to do it for me. I t did seem to go ok, so i hope all is well.
With all the electrics in place, i could then re-fit the pickguard and fit the Gotoh bridge and knobs. Unfortunatly the screws that came with the pick-ups are too short, so i couldn't get them in today, but that shouldn't be too much of a drama. All that's left to do then is fit a new nut, a rosewood tug bar and string her up with some flats, although i am toying with the idea of adding a pick-up cover. I will also want to get the fret edges filled back when funds allow.
Anyway, here's a few more pics of how she's looking. I reckon she's pretty cool for an Encore and can't wait to see what she sounds like.

  5.
It's original line up.. But from what I can tell is that it's more of a best of album, with a few new tracks on it, much like Skunk Anansie did with Smashes & Trashes... I guess as a prelude to a full new album.

I suppose that means they are all still doing other things and their main bands but have SoundGarden looming in the background.
Not the original line up as Ben Shepherd is on bass. Band got great live reviews from the Lollapalloza show, hopefully they'll be heading this way for some live dates. Soundgarden/Faith No More double header anybody?

  6. Body looks alot like on of these

  7.
There's Kim Webber who's based in Bridgwater who is a luthier as well, I've used him a few times and he's always been spot on.

    KWG

Other than that, Strings & Things in Bridgwater do set ups as well for like £30 and they're pretty good too.
Thanks for the replys.
Phoned Strings n Things this afternoon and they seemed a little vague, but if they're ok then i'll probably pop in on Friday. Also phoned Jaywalk guitars in Street, anybody used these guys before?
Does anybody know where Dom in Somerset works?
I phoned Kim Webber once to ask about replacing a nut on a bass, he quoted me £20 on the phone so i took the bass to him, only to find out when i got there that the cost had increased to £30, and that he wouldn't fit the nut without also doing a set-up which was another £60 on top. He may be highly recommended, but he won't be seeing any of my cash.

  8.
Check out this link from alembic site http://www.alembic.com/prod/basses.html
Got to be an Orion, it's the only one , bar the Europa, with the same headstock, plus the Europa is thru-neck.

  9. Just seen this listed as an Epic, but i thought the Epic had a different body shape, although i could be wrong. Any Alembic nuts out there who can confirm?
