I would consider looking at the Michael Kelly Dragonfly basses. Have tried a few through work, and they sound and play great. I had one a few years ago in Black. Only sold it cos i found my love for jazz necks. Saying that it was and still is the best setup bass i've ever owned. Kinda regret selling it. Nevermind! Jump on however many years (I think it must have been 17 odd!!) - I finally got to buying one after a G.A.S attack and a bit of ebay abuse. Ive got a Vintage Modified P-Bass Body with a Classic Vibe Neck, it makes my perfect bass. A few mods and i even take it out and gig it!
