  1. I went through a period of learning, where all i wanted to play was slap, and play it as fast as possible.
I quickly realised how pointless, and tasteless that was, and that it doesn't work in a band context.
Doesn't mean it was a bad thing to learn though, because now i know the difference between a musical slap line, and a slap line that sounds like someone has just thrown the cutlery drawer down the stairs.
In our average set list there are 30 songs. I play a slap line on 1 of them (because the original was a slap line).
I don't understand the hate towards it though. As has been said, when done well it can sound really good.
But it's the same with anything/everything isn't it? Fingerstyle can sound really good, or really bad depending how tasteful the player. Same with drumming. Same with....etc

  2. We use Wattsapp.
Just because its easy to use, and there's a search function on it that enables us to go back and check anything quite easily.
In a band of 5, 3 of us are definitely more active on it compared to the others, but that's just the nature of their jobs, or of who they are? Like you say, maybe they are just happy with what is being said and don't feel the need to add anything? They have always made their feelings known if they were against something. So for me, it's not a concern.

I like the look of the Mark Audio AC2, but annoyingly their website only lists one dealer - in Italy...

A google search for the UK finds no mention anywhere!

Poor old Taylor Hawkins appears to be the most hated man on Basschat!

Hope he's not a lurker on here......

I don't have any problems with him. Seemed like a good bloke on any interview i've seen of him. All the members seem alright to me.
I just can't get into their music

  5. I had a Big Twin II. It was huge sounding. It was a little too open sounding for my taste too. I am well aware that's a crappy description, but i really struggle to explain in words what it is i wasn't keen on. I also didn't need that much power. It was LOUD.
So i moved that on and bought 2 TKS S112s. They are fantastic. I love the "natural" sound from these. They are quite "mid forward", but i guess that's just what i like. I've had them for years now.
I also have had a Retro 210 in that time that i was fortunate enough to win in a raffle. Much more to my taste. I really, really liked that cab. Just not more than i liked my TKS. And my TKS offered better portability options.

  6. I don't know if its a slave output as such. But yes, both are passive.
L and R from mixer goes to the power amp.
L and R from the power amp go to the tops "input".
Each top also has an "output", and we feed from that, down to the subs

  7. That's an option.
How about if i ran the L and R to the tops as normal, and then linked the tops to the subs as we have, but let the tops power the subs.
Is that an option? I haven't checked impedance's, and don't know how much that would effect the overall sound etc. As i said, i'm no expert!
