But only if you're correcting your mistakes.
This is important, practice doesn't make perfect, it makes permanent as my mother used to say! Be careful you are not practicing something wrong else it will be difficult to correct later on.
2. Does that not hurt your wrist playing that high? Sometimes I try to keep the strap short but my wrist starts to kill if I play any more that about a half hour.
3.

My 10 month old son went nuts when he saw that on the screen, he tried to pick it out of the monitor. Do they do it in a 18" scale?
4.
Sorry, but the misspelling in this just made me laugh..... "Can I join your band?" "Yes, you're in" "Well, you can bugger off, how dare you ask me to join" etc. etc.
Ha! that guy must be a total moron! ...oh crap! it was me
5. There are two music shops where I live and both are similar in the customer support, both have an older guy who owns the shop and are nice and knowledgeable people, I would buy an instrument of them any day . OTOH, they both have armies of guys in their early twenties who just want to show off in front of potential customers, flog you something way above the price range you gave them and think that actually selling the instruments just an inconvenience to their otherwise awesome extended gig
6. Go for the band thing defiantly, I'm in a band and I've only been playing for a few months (we all finished at the same time the other day, I was well chuffed). I have learnt so much from playing with other musicians that I would not have done if I was just trying to teach myself.
7. Hey Henry, how do you get your motorbike to ride up the wall like that? now that's a damn fine invention!
8. Well that makes me feel better, just a silly idea, not a blatantly ridiculous one.
9. Knew there had to be a fundamental flaw somewhere else you would already be able buy such a thing! Better move on to my next inventive idea, I'll get one that works eventually!
10. From what I understand, when using one 8ohm cab with my 4ohm amp I'm not getting the full whack from my amp, right? Well whats to stop me making up a little board with a simple RCL circuit with the other 8ohms on it and pluging it into the other speaker port? I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron but audio stuff is just past my limited electronic theory!
11. As far as i can see, if someone wants a fancy pants bass thats fine with me, we all have a choice on what to spend our own money on, but for some of these guys their music becomes all about the gear and the true heart and soul of the music gets a bit diluted.
12. Not so keen on the black one, looks like somthing a child has drawn. Love the RoboBass though (if thats not a brand name already I've bagsied it), all personal opinion I spose!
13. It was just that sort of thing but a different manufacturer, can't remember which one though. Didn't know much about basses back then...
14. I can remember a website where you could pick out all sorts of options for custom basses and it would show you a mock up of what it looked like. This was a while ago and now I'm actually considering a custom bass I can't for the life of me remember where it was! Google is not helping me much and I wondered if any of you guys new what I meant.
15.
yeah this is me.. me..
is that cab doubling up as a space heater?
16. Does anyone else find that they can't stand still when playing, today over about 1/2 an hour I wandered all the way round our guitarist, tying his feet together with my lead and sent him crashing to the floor. maybe i'm taking the whole walking bassline too literally!
17. Awesome, wasn't really getting the compression thing, but now its a peice of cake now i know what its sposed to do!
18. ...forgot to mention, I work in a school so the lyrics have to be clean!
19. Hi there, looking for some advice... Some of the guys at work are trying to put a band together and it turns out i'm the only person in the whole place who plays bass, trouble is i've only been playing a few months and i'm not sure i can keep up with 3 talented guys! What i would like help with is some suggestions for songs which are not too boring but have a relativly simple bass line which i could pick up quite quickly as a beginner. Thanks, Skip.
20. Hi there, my name is Skip i'm 27 and i'm a new bass player. Been playing for 'bout 3 months now, still working on the cliches, chain, money, and stuff like that. Got an OLP stingray copy, maybe i'll buy a real one if i get any good! Anyways, nice meeting you all, Skip.
