Having both a tarkin and a stache I'm really interested how this holds up!

To be fair, the Stache isn't Green based, so will sound different, but features wise it's going to be hard for the EHX to beat either that or the COG. It's only really going to be if you want a production (i.e. not boutique) green muff for not much money.
Me? I'll stick with my Stache & two Grand Tarkins for now.

    P.s.
With regards to the COG, I'm generally referring to the Grand Tarkins, others may mean the standard Tarkin

  2. There's some very stiff competition for good Green Muffs, but they've got the price-point right (for an EHX pedal anyway).
Already having a couple of COG Tarkins in various flavours, not interested in the EHX, but lots of people will be if they've gotten it right :)

  3. I gig a lot, but don't have any bass that us purely a 'backup'. I generally take two basses to a gig, but i'll usually only use one. I use different basses for different bands, and one will often just act as a backup for the main bass on another gig. There's an assumption that I won't use the 'backup', but if I do, it will be up to my standards as it's the main bass for another project.

If I just had one project, with no interest for different musical situations, then i'd probably just buy two of the same bass.....or perhaps something wildly different...who knows haha.

As far as I know, there aren't any production 6 strings out there with a 32" scale, never mind 16.5m spacing.

Closest you'll get is probably this:

Although fully appreciate it's 30" rather than 32"

Gone back to a dual amp set up. PDF2 and noble into bass amp and POG and EQD Acupulco gold clone into guitar amp

  6. It infuriates me when you get the atypical 'why is that guitarist playing a bass', or similar, type comments.
Makes me want to ask why that person isn't playing their bass lines on a tuba! Same difference.

It's his music, he wrote it to play, he plays the bass guitar, get over it.

For the record, I didn't like the music. Great player(s) though!

  7. Yeah really odd to hear of the COG issues, mine has always been excellent, but then I've had years of teasing the best out of my OC-2s.
I've had people at Bass bashes surprised at hearing me get an OC-2 track down to a low F#.....you just gotta know how lol.

Not really heard the Eventides, but it's interesting to hear the comment above about preferring the POG/Digitech upper octave.
The POG is fine, but the Line6 M range pitching is far and above my fave. It's low octave is incredibly natural too. So much so that I set up a bunch of patches that dropped my sound a semi-tone per patch, with no dry signal. Have gigged that in Eb for example (because the guitarist for that band tuned down) without anyone noticing I had a pedal on!

So for synthy analogue vibes: OC-2 or COG
For digital / higher octave: Line6 M range

  8. I regularly gig my '71 Precision (although not Pre-CBS, still a £3000 bass by dealers prices).
I have a friend who has a LOT of vintage guitars, from 50's Teles & Strats, to 50's Gibsons, some old Gretches etc. He gigs them all regularly, isn't afraid to take them out.

  9. No reply from Paul and Lull about SG basses (think my message feel into his 'other' inbox on Facebook).
That said, I've since learned that Gibson have successfully trademarked a number of body shapes, including the SG, so definitly no production SGs from other companies. Not sure how that works for custom builders, I notice Jaydee does an SG signature copy and have said they'd do a bass if asked.

Guess I'd have to look for a second hand EB3 short scale for my Dark Star project, maybe an old Tokai.
