More Cult Of Luna today, their Raging River album. What an absolutely blinding bit of heavy music. If you've not heard Cult Of Luna I recommend checking them out. Keep an open mind, this is a very long way from traditional metal and I find it very musically interesting as well as a little hypnotic.
they're touring the UK in October.
I'll be going to see them. -

Plus they sound good.
As an owner of 3 Ashdown amps & 3 Ashdown cabs, I'm not going to argue there

Poor old Ashdown still thinking that these kinds of rigs actually contribute to anything the musicians or the audience hears.
I think Ashdown, and lots of other companies, still market for the visuals of massive rigs.

Primitive, sleazy and thoroughly magnificent.
Last week I had a Cramps blow out and listened to nothing but them for a whole day. I miss The Cramps live...

I still like their weekly emails and the 'new website coming soon' bit has been making me chuckle for the last 5 months. Plainly a definition of soon I'm unacquainted with.
It's been about a year the new website has been coming. But, to be fair, they changed 'New website coming in the next couple of weeks' to 'new website coming soon' about 5 months ago...

A guy on an Aria group on Facebook with a GT-3 has confirmed the 3 on/off switches and a coil tap on the push/pull pot.

I went to a Q&A talk thing by John Robb at Rough Trade. He has just released a book "Art of Darkness: The history of goth"
It was great; lots of back-in-the-day goths dressing up, discussion of the music/people and reminiscing about the clubs etc. A little nugget I loved was "if you HAD to break it down to a formula, then Jim Morriston + Bowie × punk = goth"
@BigRedX I was half expecting to see you there
A friend in Anglesey is hoping to organise a Q&A with Robb up there in the autumn. My friend has known John Robb for a while, so it stands a chance of happening.

From a Reverb ad:
Each pickup has a mini toggle switch: the bridge is 2-way on/off; the middle is 3-way on/off/on reverse
phase;
the neck is 3-way on dual coil/off/on single coil.

Grestch 250th anniversary special.
Beautiful guitar, but I think you've over estimated the anniversary a little...

My favourite was a Trace Elliot MP11 preamp into a power amp, the make of which I can't remember.
Why? It was super flexible. But the MP11 developed a fault and the repair shop went under taking the preamp with it. 😭My Ashdown CTM-30 is currently my favourite amp because I can get a bloody awesome sound from it at home volumes compared to my CTM-300...

You’re going to get many different replies… mine is:
All valve amp set as flat as possible through 2 x 15”. Control the tone from the bass.

New sleep token album “take me back to Eden”. It’s going to divide opinion for sure. For anyone not aware they’re an intriguing anonymous bunch who dress up on stage that are on their third album. Previous material is strong, particularly 1st album.
Becoming quite the crossover act blending detuned metal with pop sensibilities. I know this sounds hideous but hear me out.Not much in the way of prominent bass parts but really enjoying the album as a whole.
The production is absolutely massive sounding, very polished.
Highlights are the snare drum sound, all singles released so far, the riff on ascensionism around 4mins in. Lots of colour in this and it improves on repeat.
I’ve seen these guys mentioned on some music groups I’m in on Facebook.
Just checked them out, Chokehold was good for me to go back to the first album.
It’s all pretty good

This album is pretty damn astonishing!
And I love the cover artwork as well!
Thank you for making me aware of its existence.
😊
glad to be of service.
I’m a big fan of both Gnod and White Hills. But this colab is my favourite release by them both..

Yep, if you have a mic, interface and software you can make your own.
Logic Pro on the Mac comes with an IR Utility program. That’s really simple to use
What are you listening to right now?

That's where I'm hoping to go. I'll speak to my mate at Carcass on Wednesday to see if he's up for it.
