After nearly a fortnight the refund finally went back to my credit card.

I left the seller a factual negative :

Bass arrived unplayable and wasn't as described.Seller did refund me by echeque

    to which she replied :

Grief and the wrong conclusions! Bass verified genuine by maker & setup €50 cost

Should I contest the feedback as the grief was actually mine or just let it rest?

No point contesting feedback as fleabay won't get involved. I've had a couple problems with sellers and they don't even reply to messages.

Found a sapphire burst ( longscale) in a local pre loved shop yesterday. Lovely finish, so I've avoided the 2 months wait and ordered a new discounted CHB 1 shortscale in sapphire burst today.

The wife will be pleased lol

Is that a floating or fixed bridge?

Two questions. (1) Is that Acoustic wall all yours? and (2) Do you have all that in the house AND a wife?

You're asking the wrong person mate, ask cd_david.

YES ! - first time I ever plugged into a 360 it was like a life-changer. I seriously think Acoustic is one of a tiny number of landmarks in the bass timeline that Leo started.

    360 + 62 P is my bass nirvana.

I've been eyeing up the 4 string versions of these on Thomann for a while now. I'm really tempted. They look amazing for the price and the reviews are excellent. However, the listings above don't mention the Harley Benton (Thomann own brand) label but they're definitely the same instrument. So would someone care to enlighten me as to what a "Deko" is?

Deko is damaged or customer returned.

Me too, I had a bit of a sickness for a while but I’ve finally calmed down and have 2 370s and 2 408s. Ali McMordie was a hero when I first started playing. Hence the Guid too. imageproxy.php?img=&key=4b3806f48250f55a

I’ve spent the last few years ridding myself of a large collection and distilling my basses down to basses I will gig and not be precious about and the best version of the instrument I can find. If there’s anything that niggles me about a bass it’s now gone.

With that said here’s the 2 best Fenders I’ve personally played. 1978 Walnut and Rosewood and a 1973 Black and Maple.

    A framed rig picture. That's a basshead. 😉

Given that it's one of a pair of which the other broke and that both will have had similar use/wear, hardly a sensible purchase. I suspect it will have been made by Gotoh. They probably offer a similar or identical model, minus Ibanez branding and you could buy dozens for the price he's asking.

Exactly. There's a lot of chancers these days on fleabay.

  9. Which is best is subjective, I am a P guy through and through. My preference is the 51 SC, the sound is warmer, richer and more organic, and I like the overall aesthetics and look of the original.

The split coil has a fuller, thumpier (if that's a word) and more rounded tone.

Personally I find a very noticable difference between 32 & 34", much more that I expected.

String wise D'addario, Warwick, Newtone, and I thing Rotosound make Medium scale strings, and I'm sure there are many others.

What specific difference did you find? After a few minutes playing I didn't find any difference,  I found it very easy to adjust.

It won't make much difference. It's not the scale you're changing, just the length... If you follow. The distance between each and every fret is scaled down on a short scale, if you drop tune your long scale and just play a little bit further down then yes, you are playing the closer together frets but so what? I really can't see it making much difference apart from being a bit of a mind-fudge when the muscle memory wants to go one way but your ears are telling you something else and finally the brain catches up and you've missed the note anyway (well, that's what would happen to me!).

I say just buy a cheap short scale to see if you like short scales and take it from there.

Which cheap short scale would you suggest?

  12. Talking to a mate last night about switching from long scale to short scale bass, and I've been looking at buying a short scale. However, he mentioned about using a capo on a long scale, i play in standard tuning, he said detune down to a D and put a capo on second fret, which changes 34 inch to roughly 30.5 inch scale. Sounds like a great idea, so was wondering if anyone has done this?
