I'm not sure you can just get an amp on this, but i found the music shop to be most accomodating for getting round little things like that when i sorted mine out!
Beat me to it. I've used this 3 times - it doesn't get better than 0% finance & yes, you can get amps on this

  2. The Jaguar is supposed to be excellent but the active circuitry is it's weakness. I spent some time yesterday searching old threads on the Jaguar. I do like the look of them and from what I've heard they sound excellent too - however if it's an active bass you are looking for it would seem this is unlikely to be first choice.

  3. Offered for sale is my Danelectro 63 Reissue that is in great nick and has seen home use only It's less than a year old and has sat in a smoke free music room since owning from new. I'll take £125 for a quick sale but it will be a meet or a collection as I had a bad experience with a courier in the past. Check my feedback on this site but I'm pretty easy to deal with. I'm in West Berks but happy to drive an hour from home (so Oxon, Wilts, Hants etc are all realistic) - it's also been professionally set up unlike many of the online offers where they are just shipped out as they came from the factory. I need to make a bit of room. Picture below but PM me for more info

  4. Hi there - Having a bit of a clearout and offering my 89 Squier Tele for sale. Do bear in mind this is when Squier were dealing in great instruments - something that they stopped doing until the VM series IMHO! This is the S series Korean Squier, not a China one. Some pics below. I picked it up last year on EBay but it's just been in storage as I have other guitars. At the time I fancied a late 80s Squier as it reminded me of my school days. All in working order and I believe it's all original bar the strap locks that have now been fitted. I'd be looking at £145 for a cash deal (I will take Paypal but cash means I donate more to Basschat). I've had a bad experience with a delivery so I'd prefer a collection or a meet (I'm happy to drive up to an hour from my home in West Berks - so Hants, Wilts, Oxon etc are all good). Check my feedback - I'm pretty easy to deal with. The neck is awesome and feels great. Weight wise it's not light but a good weight. Condition wise it's in good condition for it's age. Oh & I'll throw in a hard case. PM me for any more queries.

  5. Back in the day I had a Peavey combo from the 70s that I picked up for £50 , gigged to death & sold on 15yrs later for £100. Then I bought a Laney that I never liked. I do have an Ampeg BA115U combo that I am yet to use but I've recently got a decent vintage vibe set up...

Now courtesy of Basschat, I have a 1978 Fender Bassman 135 head running into an Ampeg SVT Classic 115E

  6.
"I doubt you'll find many vintage guitars or basses in such good condition, grab this while you can."

I'm always willing to give the benefit of the doubt but I honestly can't see how it could be a typo.
As per the 2 replies below. If Clarky's assessment is right he could have typed 40 instead of 30. That was all I meant.

  7. It's an amazing collection & you clearly have more basses than the average music shop would normally stock at any one time! Purely as a point of interest I once sold my Jack Cassady bass to a guy on EBay who had 135 instruments. Funny thing, he was divorced. :)

I really like the attention to detail. I only really know Fender basses as they are what I keep going back to (so can't comment on Pangbourn and the like) but you really do seem to have it all covered with an impressive range of Squiers and Fenders.

  8. In defence of the email, sometimes it is considered better to use this as opposed to when you are on rehearsal rates. I would hope it is followed by a call me or offer to remain mates. If he phones one of you the others are put out. It's never easy. My view is the initial chat was obviously that he was unhappy and he tried making a go of it. Yes it is sad and I wish you every success bouncing back but 5yrs is a pretty good run. People's priorities do change and at least you have a hard core unit of people who are similarly focussed.

For the record I once did some gigs after the band had split and sometimes this is more effort then it's worth. It can be awkward and if the band is not your main source of income then this impacts on the fun factor - i.e. why we do this!

Good luck finding a better replacement

  9.
my vote would have to be this:
I think this is the winner (even if Wotnwhy changed their mind!). The other alternative is lose the hat and just wear shades if it's that sort of look. Depending on how bright your future is, of course :)

  10. Most bass players aren't interested in Guitarists who fanny about :)

I wouldn't pay it any thought. A bit of rubbish feedback I had from a rubbish soundman back in 1996 - "the feedback was caused by the bass player jumping around too much". Er, right you are!

Make no apologies and enjoy it!

  11.
I hope you don't mind me saying but despite some very sound comments you seem a little determined to go down a particular path.

There's a lot of great bargains that come up here on BassChat and with most sellers there's a pedigree and some feedback.

For that sort of money you'll see some far better instruments, in fact even for a lot less money.
I too wondered if there was a certain convieniance with this store? Even GAK and Soundslive to better deals on new US P-basses.

The price drop is a fair bit better but still far from getting a great deal.

  12. I was going to say a Fender Jazz has sufficient Indie cred and is similar in vibe to a Rickenbacker (to a point). In Swindon there are loads of Rickenfakkers for £499 which bar the logo look indentical to my eyes. One of those two would be my option if I was you.

  13. I love Precision basses and have owned several (currently running at 3). The S1 switching was on the 2007 model - I have one. I agree with the comments that it works great on the Jazzes but is a bit of a waste on the Precision. I guess this is why Fender no longer install it. That price is quite outrageous though. I picked up a brand new 2007 60th Anniversary (old stock that hadn't sold) from Dawsons in Reading earlier this year for a few pennies over £600. A much better deal on a USA P-bass and the resale value will be better on an anniversary model. I'm sure you can get a great deal on a USA P-bass at several other dealers.

  14.
You might nit be aware that I own the biggest bass guitar forum in Europe www.basschat.co.uk and our thousands of readers will be very interested in how I am treated in this matter"

Make of this what you will - this is just my experience. Perhaps they are amazing most of the time, but I won't be going anywhere near them again.
I'd considered buying from Dawsons online and this thread has actually cost them a sale already from me.

However, I can see your problem AND their predictament. I'm sure they will refund you but I can 100% see why they are reluctant - even though they have demonstrated a fairly detailed catologue of total incompetence throughout this transaction. A nightmare sale.
