1.
It seems that most of the double bass stands I have come across online are also for Cello and and it is hard to assess what the quality is like based upon pictures alone. Having had my reaonably okay DB stand go missing after a gig a recently, I am on the hunt for a high quality stand that is ideal for both home and live and won't run the risk of my bass falling off and breaking (already been there; not a pretty topic). Has any one in this forum got a high quality double bass stand they would be able to recommend? SO far I'm looking at both the Hercules and K&M models, although the K&M model is particularly confusing as they have just upgraded their old model and the new one looks a little cheaper in the photos online... What do you good people here think?
Any ideas? I'd like to put in an order for one in the next couple of days, so any recommendations would be hugely appreciated

 3.
If you can make it to Hampshire you are more then welcome to try out my PJB M-300 head.
Thanks for the offer guys (both Gareth and Robin) - If I'm up your way in the neat future then I'll send a private message! Gareth = I'm fairly torn between either a PJB or EA head. If the EA Doubler sounds as good as the PJ M300 head through my cab, I'd rather go for that as it's considerably lighter. I noticed in the Sale section of the forum that you almost sold your PJB rig to buy an EA rig... - Was this because of weight, or purely because of sound? If it was the sound, was it the EA head you prefered, or the EA cab? - Have you tried an EA head through your PJB cabs? If so, did it sound as good as your PJ head and which head did you try/consider? Thanks, James
 4.
i know this is a stupid offer but you never know until you ask lol would you take 150GBP
Thanks for the offer, but I'm definately after £199. The cab is in perfect condition and has never been used. Best regards, James
 5. Thanks for the tips. I got to hear a Warwick head through it in a rehearsal the other day and it sounded great, but it was another bassist using an electric bass, so am still not sure what it will sound like with my upright. I'm very tempted to try the EA Doubler as it seems ideal for my needs. Does any one in the UK stock them? I bet the Markbass heads would be good, but I can't seem to get past how much their stuff looks like Lego. Also, they're generally a little heavier than I'd like. Has any one tried a TC RH450 with Double Bass? I got to try one and it didn't sound too great, but that was through an Ampeg cab that was one single horn (either 15" or 18" - it was the one Victor Wooten designed). I'm definately going to try through some PJ heads, even if the best ones are a little on the heavy side - just worried that the smaller one might not be powerful enough for some gigs. Does any one know of anywhere in the Bristol/North Somerset area that stocks them? Thanks, James P.S. can't seem to find any one in the U.K. that stocks AI heads (only second hand), but definately would be up for trying some.

 7.
I've added a price to the add - let me know what you think. Thanks, James
I'm getting interest, but no takers yet. I'm going to take £1 off... It's now £199
 8.
If portability is a must, you could look at the Acoustic Image heads.
Great, I'll check them out. I'm also considering getting something that is small and not as powerful for now and then something louder a few months down the line. The Phil Jones (8x5) cab is 4ohms and I've also got a Fender 1x15 cab that is 8ohms, so if there's a way I can get them to run together then that might be interesting... Any more ideas? Thanks, James
 9. Hi, I'm writing this hoping that someone here might have some good ideas or suggestions for me. Having just traded my Fender Combo for a Phil Jones 8b Cabinet (400 watts, 8 ohms), I'm looking for something very light and portable that will compliment the natural sound of the Double Bass and bring some power (I don't want to be running a 50 watt head through it). Most of my gigs are jazz and Latin, but we're not always background music, so the power and headroom are important. However, I'd also be open to low powered head suggestions that I could take out for smaller gigs (also to take on a bus with my DB and cab for jazz jam sessions/rehearsals). If anyone has any ideas/recommendations for me, then they would be hugely appreciated. Thanks, James

 12.
James, you have another PM. Please add asking prices to this and your other sale thread ASAP.
The original post has now been edited. Thanks for making me aware of forum selling rule no.5. Am happy to make any other changes if necessary.
 13. If like Spinal Tap and Jay-Z you're in to 'big bottom', then this is the cab for you! I've recently dropped my asking price to £165 and am now considering trades - possibly a small/light head, but am interested in whatever else you may have to offer. This Fender cab is in immaculate condition and is being sold as new. I originally purchased it as an impulse buy when the local Sound Control in Bristol was closing down, thinking that it would match my Fender Bassman Pro combo (which I've since sold). Being new to speaker Ohm-ages at the time, I didn't realise that this cab is rated at '8 Ohms' (to match a Bassman Pro head and NOT a Bassman Pro combo, which requires a similar looking '4 Ohm' 1x15 cab). As a result, this fantastic cab has been been living under my staircase, un-used. All of my jazz gigs these days are on the double bass, so have since gone for a Phil Jones rig with 5inch speakers that are more suited to my needs. Fender have an enviable reputation for both inventing and manufacturing some of the best gear in the music industry and this cab is no exception. This series of cabs sound fantastic with any brand of head/combo and will make your bass sound huge. Here are the relevant specs... Make & Model = Fender 115 Pro Cabinet Speaker = Eminence 15" driver and compression horn. Power rating = 700 watts program, 350 watts continous @ 8 Ohms Dimension = 18.5" Height, 25.5" Width, 18.5" Depth Feel free to post any questions and I will answer as accurately as possible. Best regards, James P.S. whilst the original Bassman Pro amp series has been discontinued, I've found a site that is selling this cab at a discounted price of €448.50 (£391). It lists the original retail price as €556 (£485)... http://www.woodbrass.com/en/fender-115-pro-p16644.html
 14. This item is no longer available. It's been traded for Basswesty's Phil Jones 8b Cab. Thanks for all the interest... I am either selling or trading this amp as I am currently looking for a separate head and cab for future and in the mean time am going to borrow my girlfriends' Galline Krueger rig until I have found the right one for me. (All of my gigs are double bass, so my tonal requirements have have changed somewhat and I need a lot more headroom before feedback for the Piezo pickup). Fender made this amp around the time they purchased SWR and largely based the design on the SWR Super Redhead. Unfortunately, they no longer make this range, but they're still commonly used by professional musicians (I originally went for it as most of my fellow muso friends use them). I originally purchased this amp for £1000. It either runs at 350 watts as a standalone combo, or 500 watts with an extension cab. As you can see from the picture, this is the 2x12 version (Eminence speakers), which includes 'Room Balance and built-in 'Compression' controls. It also comes with a neat rackmount tuner. It's not in perfect cosmetic condition, as one of the tone controls look wonky, but it is in perfect working condition and and the amp sounds fantastic. click for further specs and information from GAK... Feel free to post any questions regarding this amp and I will do my best to answer to the best of my ability. Thanks, James P.S. I have had a couple of messages demanding that I state a price, so I will comply to this by adding that I'm looking for £500 (or in the case of a trade, an item equivalent or near to original cost of the item - £1000). I simply can't list every thing that I would possibly consider trading for this, but I would be very tempted by a good Neodynium speaker cabinet or pro head. Thanks. I also have an extension cab for sale, but am willing to sell separately... Pro series 1x15 cab, 350 watts, 8 ohm, weight = 61lbs, H.18.5", W.25.5", D.18.5" (Eminence speaker)
 15. This item has now been sold (for full asking price). Thanks for all the enquiries and interest this item has gathered over the past couple of years.
 16.
I'm interested in this bass. I'm still waiting to get paid but if you still have it in about 3 or 4 weeks, I'll buy it from you.
Okay, cool. If you send me a private message in a few weeks I'll let you know if I still have it.
 17.
Hi Guys, if you wanna get rid of one of those two amps, or both:) please be so kind to let me know..thanks in advance
Hi, Not sure if you're still after one, but I have a Fender Bassman 300 Pro combo that I'm considering letting go of if you're still interested. Let me know either way, Thanks, James
 18.
i may have money for this baby at mid september when i get paid along with my overtime paid, i consider this as a good upgrade instead of my peavey grind 6.
It's still for sale if interested. I've just had an interesting offer for a Techamp neodynium 2x12 combo trade, but am still considering my options...
 19.
been after one of these for yonks, but i'm still undecided if i would like one or not or if i even like 6 strings anymore =/ eitehr way free double bump haha
hi Attitude, Thanks for the message - it's been a while Is it a neodymium speaker? I'm relatively happy with the Fender combo I've already got (it cost just over £1,000), but I need something a lot lighter...
 20.
If only it were wanting that was the issue, a lack of £450 is more the problem here !
I'm unlikely to put it on eBay and may be holding on to it for a while, so feel free to message me in future and I may still have it for sale
Trade for a Yammy TRB1006? I know... If you don't play one yammy, you won't play they other... But it can't hurt to ask! Shep
That's a nice offer, but I've decided that 6-strings just aren't for me. I don't think I'd even go for a 5-string I'm definately still interested in trading for an amp though. Any offers?
 21.
Have been GASing for one of these for years, this one looks a minter ! Have a free bump.
Thanks for the bump; maybe you should treat yourself
 22. This item has now been sold. Thanks for all the interest and enquiries from this forum (I originally posted an advert for this a year and a half ago, but haven't been tempted by any offers for it so far). I'm looking for £450 (and wont consider offers below this), but am currently looking for a lighter amp for my double bass, so would consider a sensible trade for a Mark Bass or similar amp with Neodynium speakers. I'm looking for pick-up only and live in the Weston-Super-Mare area (near Bristol). As mentioned in the previous ad, I do all of my electric bass gigs on my Fender Jazz and 99 percent of my gigs this last year have been on the double bass, so this bass has been un-played for a long time now and is in perfect condition. This model is no longer in production so is becoming rare and is widely considered one of the best 6-String basses out there. Here are some photos to wet your appetite...
 23. Thanks for the replies - I was suprised that this post was still going... I persuaded a musician friend of mine to purchase a double bass from Gear4Music and purchased his styrofoam case, as he wanted the bass mainly as an ornament and wasn't planning on gigging it. It's a great case for wheeling the bass to gigs in the local area, but far too big for the car, so I'm still using a soft case for the majority of gigs. Now I all I need is a lighter, more portable bass amp, a better pickup than the Fishman I have installed, a decent hard case and a van...
