hi mate would a mayones be5 exotic be of interest? if so give me a call on 07944544747

Sorry mate - Afraid not.

I need to bump this - looking for cash again. Credit card is look worrying. I'll knock another £100 off - so now £1600. I can look at shipping etc if required, but would prefer collection.

2. Wouldnt life suck if we all liked the same basses?! ;)

FWIW i tried dozens of basses before deciding on my lakland, that was trying high end fenders, MM, Warwicks etc.
Even based my purple beastie on it!

You might get a few dogs occasionally, but for my (personal) testing, i found 9/10 fenders were howling, but all the Laklands i tested were lovely in comparrison.

3. I have a rough question kinda in the same vein...

I want to use my 4 string lakland at drop A (AEAD) - what kinda gauge would be needed for this? Best to get a 5 string set and ditch the high string? Will I need to likely need to file the nut? It's 34" scale.

4. I had one. I managed to get fairly useful tones.
But you have to be insanely clinical with your playing but I found that to be the same with the Roland GK3B also.

I bought mine used and sold it for the same price. I think I sold it for about 30 quid. Worth it for that price, but not the 70 it retails for.

5. What power amps are you guys using (if any)?

I'd like to take ipad, light amp and barefaced cab for gigs and practice. Was eying up the EHX magnum 44 but not sure its loud/clean enough. I'd rather any distortion came from my actual preamp tones.

Yep...just to re-iterate. Valve amps have to be run under load so make sure you know
a few absolute NO-NO's with regards to running valve amps.
They aren't very kind at all to anyone taking liberties.

You MUST run it under a load at ALL times.
You must run it with the correct load so, 8 ohm cab should have a
ohm selecter on the back of the amp.
You turn them on in stand-by mode and then wait for the amp to warm
up before switching in the power stage...which is normally the second
on switch.

If power is switched off ( i.e power-cut ) ..switch the amp off and start again.
Valves and voltage supply are dodgy bed fellows so reset the amp and start again if
the power is fluctuating or unstable. Valve amp users hate the venue limiters
with a passion for this reason.

This is why valve amps became unpopular and second to the more resiliant and robust SS
models. They did not become unpopular because of the sound 99% of the time.

+1

Although it might just decide not to work at all! :P

Risks ya gotta take in the pursuit of tone! Enjoy it ;)

JamUp app on ipad or iphone and a Line6 sonicport would be the best option in my opinion, and would be cheaper than the Kemper or the AxeFX.

Cheers - Will give it a go! :) Got a Sonic port already.

8. Hey guys,
Looking for some advice - I'm currently in two projects, one with synth/rock the other metal/djenty.

I've got my FX obsession under control now and I'm pretty much using one or two tones. I want to however get to the point where I dont have any pedals (or at least not as much!) in front of me.

What I would like is fairly straight forward.

1) ability to setup two amps within - I'm using a PF800 just now, so Ampegness would be good. But I'd like a setup to allow me to use a 2nd amp or dirty tones. So the clean bass is a constant. Think RATM, Muse, Tool etc.
2) Actually sound decent!
3) Have multiple "pedalboards". Like Scenes I guess? Eg I could press 1 and have my synth band, press 2 and have the metal.
4) Would be nice if was easy to use!

I've looked at the Axe FX (Youtube natch), which I've quite liked, but the cost is insane. I would however sell my head and i've already got my dingwall for sale, so it's not completely out of the question. My singers other band users Avid Eleven Rack stuff. The metal band guitarists use Line 6 HD300/500s, but I wasn't blown away by the amp stuff in the M series - not sure if they're the same? I had a quick look at Kemper also.

What power amp would people suggest? Lighter the better tbh! But if It means I don't need a board and can have TOOOOOONES of tones I could live with it.

Any help would be grand :)

Once you hit that first note, the nerves disappear. Well they do, so long as you manage to hit the right note

You mention a Maple fingerboard, but I don't think that's maple. :)

Awesome looking bass regardless!

D'oh!
Let this be a lesson kids - never blindly copy and paste! :P

EDIT: I think BD meant fretboard is rosewood, but the neck is maple.

Well as can be expected now I am semi retired! Up in Aberdeen end of October, tight for time but could catch a cawfee some time.

Nice bass, I was in Bass Direct Bank Holiday Monday..... Nuff said, I am 40 minutes away....

Defo man! :) I should be onshore hopefully.

Thats too close for me, I'd be homeless but own some amazing basses :P

FWIW - willing to go to about £1700. Not sure how much shipping would be.
