1. Just bought a second hand Cort A6 and the action seems a little high - like 4- 5 mm at 12th fret.Plus bridge saddles are normally a nice diagonal line but these seem a bit odd. ( see pics). I've never had the nerve to adjust a truss rod especially with a through neck. Any advice folks?
2. Hi folks I've just bought a used Cort a6 and I'm picking it up tomorrow. However I would like to buy a shaped hard case for it so is there anyone out there who could give me the length, and width of the upper and lower bouts so I can look for a suitable case? Thanks 😊
3. Duplicate post
4. IMHO, G&L basses have evolved (for obvious reasons) from Fender and Musicman, so they have improved on what was already a classic design. Having said that, listening to Chris Squire and his Ricky as a teenager is one of the reasons I ever picked up the bass in the first place
5.
Get Amp Soon. No reason to thank me. Glad to be of help! (really: Gear Acquisition Syndrome - the state of strongly being drawn towards buying certain new gear)
Ahhh...... In that case, I'm lamenting the moment of insanity when I parted with my beautiful blueburst G&L Tribute L-2500 and wishing I could get her back.... May have to look for alternatives, maybe a Yammy TRBX305 (as I also used to have a Mk1 TRB5F but hardly played it so sold that too). If I could find an TRB5 for TRBX305 money I'd be a happy bunny
6. Scuse my higgerance but what's GAS, O wise bass peeps???
7. I used to have a mk1 trb5f in translucent black with fretlines which was just beautiful to look at and had a real deep throaty growl. Sold it a few years back to a fellow BC
8. So a 200w head would be ok then? I think I've read a spec somewhere that a 200w head pushes out 120w into 8 ohms so that would be ok then?
9. The handle has been relocated to the side so that's not an issue, I know the output is less into 8 ohms but won't the amps you've mentioned still be too powerful for a 150 w cab?
10. I've just bought a VS112-150 cab on Ebay which was listed as a 1 x 15 cab which is a 200 watt cab. It's miles away and I can't be bothered with the hassle of complaining/returning etc. So what output amp can I get away with (it doesn't have to be Ashdown), or should I just re-sell it and get something else? I know I could use it as an extension cab, but I just wanted a small rig with a head and one cab. Any advice would be great :-) thanks
11. Thanks for all your comments folks I'm happy /sad to say it's now gone to a new loving home and the best part is its staying in the good old North West hehehe. Hope you all find what you're looking for on here. Best wishes Slingo
12.
OK I've finally decided to bite the bullet and part with my gorgeous G & L as sadly I don't play anymore so it needs rehoming Its finished in a tasteful blueburst which I was told isn't one of the colours they do regular production runs of (as there's a greater demand for natural & sunburst finishes) and the standard build is with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard but I personally think it looks better with a maple fretboard as the headstock is maple, so I specified this when I ordered it, so I had to wait six months for it! So in away, it's kind of a custom build and it's in MINT condition. As for the sound, it's just gorgeous and has a wide variety of sounds due to the ability to switch and split the pickups (which incidentally are the same ones used in the more expensive American G & L's). You can go from a plaster-loosening full-fat low B to a super slap-happy toppy funk sound. You can find a review of it here:- http://www.bassplayer.com/article/tribute-by-gl/may-04/668 I'm also including a Hiscox Liteflight hard case in the sale and I will chuck in a set of Elite strings as I won't need them anymore. I would prefer collection only (or possibly meeting up somewhere) rather than posting. PRICE £450 for the lot.
13.
Nah man, trying to shed a load of 5-string basses as it is haha! I really wanted one of these before but then I got paired with my TRB 6-string and I ain't looked back since. Someone should though, hot damn man that finish as well as the sheer tone!
I know what you mean - I had a TRB5 fretless (series 1) in high black gloss - it was gorgeous but sold it two years ago.
14.
stunner! interested in trades at all?
No sorry -my playing days are over so no sense trading (why would I swap such a gorgeous bass for another?) just need it to go a new loving home
15.
Why does it have to be in that absolutely fantastic finish WITH the maple fingerboard!? :-( Too beautiful!!! When I was lookin for one of these a year ago, couldn't find this combination anywhere. I'm no longer in need (but still want) and here one appears. Bumping this for sheer epicness!!! Not only will your notes sound fantastic on this, but the finish will be the envy of all!
So are you going to buy it then? You know it makes sense! ;-)

17. How about this? You'd be surprised how loud it can be!Check this
18. Fantastic little amp with a big voice. Although this is deemed to be a practice amp, it's actually pretty loud and has an extension speaker socket to take advantage of its full power so could actually be used for small venues, a D.I. socket, CD input and headphone socket. Also has active and passive inputs and a built in compressor. Unlike a lot of small amps, it handles 5 string basses without any problems. It's in excellent almost new condition. Yours for £75 THIS HAS NOW BEEN SOLD LOCALLY
19. Fantastic awesome amp from the stable of Mark Gooday, the man who set the bar with Trace Elliot...... This amp is just brilliant with its vintage vu meter for signal strength, the simply wonderful sub harmonics which basically replicates your notes with another one an octave lower. Also has the extra deep and extra bright buttons, 5 band switchable EQ, xlr D.I. output and effects loop. This is quite simply the best amp I've ever used and I'm only selling it because I no longer need it. It is in perfect working order and has the carpet covering finish to the cabs. Bag yourself a bargain - the whole stack for £250
20.
I'm I going mental... (!)... but why does this look like a series 1 body with series 2 pickups in it? That said, for 350 quid it ain't dear. Almost makes me thing about fighting with fretless again. AND... I have to go to Manchester on Monday. Wonder what getting frets put in would cost....
It's definitely a series one and has never been modded. As far as fretting it - thats your call. It does have fretlines on it just no frets! Seems a shame to deface it with frets....
21.
Hi there Was looking at this just last night, im going to needing a fretless for a show im doing called "rent" this looks fantastic, is it a defretted model?or factory fretless, also if its a series one it wont be 35" scale, not a deal breaker though great basses, just working on the wife at the mo, big bump for a gorgeous bass. all the best - lee
It's a factory fretless and definitely series one. I love just looking at it its a gorgeous bass but it needs to go as it doesn't get played nowadays
22.
Trades?
Sorry - I have no need for another bass so I just need to sell this one as it just doesn't get played, so looking for cash only I'm afraid.
23. Rare opportunity to buy this beautiful fretless bass. This bass just growls and is just gorgeous to behold, finished in charcoal black with the transparent high gloss finish allowing the grain to show through. Bolt on neck is maple with fret-lined rosewood fingerboard. It is fitted with 3 band EQ, bass and treble boost/cut, 3 way mid selectable mid switch, master volume and pickup pan, and Yamaha's own brilliant active hum-cancelling bass humbucker pickups. Machine heads and bridge are gold-plated. NB There is one tiny little ding underneath (i.e. the bit that would rest on your knee if you were sitting down to play). Its about 1mm square, if that. Apart from that it is in mint condition. Supplied in fitted plush-lined Yamaha hard case. The case alone currently retails for £110. There are a few minor marks and cuts on the case as you would expect with general wear and tear. This is a very reluctant sale but it's not being used so has to go to a good home. More photos available on request. Please note this is the superior series one Japanese bass not the series two or the Korean TRB 1005 Bargain at £350 ono
