Hi Guys, Selling my Markbass Mini CMD 121P which I've owned for about 5 years. It's in fully working condition, lightweight (30lbs) and loud (300W). Cosmetically it looks like an amp thats been used for 5 years, because it has. Usual scuffs on corners, bit of wear on strap, few small dinks to the carpet, few bobbly patches etc. Web price new is about 800 quid, I'm selling for £350 collection from Rochester, Kent or Central London (Haymarket) May be able to arrange courier at buyers expense, subject to me being able to find its/a box from the loft. Pictures below, no trade offers please. Thanks Rich

man, too much choice! just came across a load of threads on talkbass on the same subject. i think ive narrowed it down to the Fender, antiquity II and also SPB-1

Thanks, this confirms what I was thinking. Had Antiquity IIs on a jazz bass at one time and they sounded really classic. Will have a look at the Lindy Fralin! Many thanks

Hi Looking for some advice/suggestions, I'm in the market for a replacement pickup to use in some of my p basses. Looking to get as close to early 60s, Jamerson/Pino tone. Using rosewood fretboard and old TI flats on them currently. Going through some of the major brands there seems to be loads suggesting a true representation of the vintage 60s pickups. Wondered if anyone had any experience with any of the below or could suggest others to consider? £89 Fender original pickup £130 Seymour Duncan Antiquity II £52 Seymour Duncan Vintage SPB-1 £110 Nordstrand np4 £110 Nordstrand np4v £100 Aguilar AG 4P-60 £55 Wizard Trad £90 Bareknuckle 65 split coil Thanks for the help Best, Rich

Now Sold Hi Selling my Overwater J5 that I've owned for just over 2 years now. I bought the bass from new direct from Overwater. It's seen a decent amount of playing but has been well looked after. Would describe the cosmetic condition as very good, few little imperfections here and there if you look close enough and a bit of buckle rash on the back. I've just received another Overwater J5 very similar to this, just with a few spec tweaks to suit me which is the only reason why I'm selling this one. Spec: 35" scale 24 frets Swamp ash body Flamed maple top Tobacco sunburst finish with matching headstock Maple neck Birdseye maple fingerboard Overwater silent single coil pickups John East J-Retro flat response preamp Hipshot tuners and type A bridge Schaller strap locks This is the bass that Overwater use on their home page to advertise their J Series www.overwaterbasses.com The price for this bass new would be around £2500, I'm asking for £1350 plus postage or collection either from Rochester, Kent or Central London. Pictures below are the ones that Overwater sent me once the bass was completed. Feel free to get in touch about viewing the bass in either Rochester, Kent or Central London. Many thanks for looking Richard Coughlan

Bass player upstages James Corden
richardcoughlan replied to Panamonte's topic in General Discussion
haha! when the play started out at the National it was only due to run for 3 months, so I spent 250quid on this squier p bass to leave at the theatre and get knocked about.... who knew the play was going to be such a success, international tour currently being booked for 2013 and a broadway transfer happening in a few months. fortunately the squier turned out to be an amazing instrument, maybe I got lucky with this one or maybe they're all this great! either way I have no intention of changing basses on the show! .......also its fiesta red so I can occasionally pretend that i'm Pino to keep myself amused during the show
But he does have Calvin Klein underwear ...................................... Hang on that seems wrong " very nice for a play set in 1963" - so he should have gone and found an original '63 P bass?
-
Well, not exactly. But having gone to see One Man, Two Guvnors at the National Theatre in London tonight - a play which features both Mr Corden and an onstage band - I was particularly impressed by Richard Coughlan who was playing upright and electric bass. Spot on the money. Incidentally, his Squier CV P sounded and looked great - very nice for a play set in 1963. And it was very funny (the play, not his playing).
Hi Panamonte, Thanks very much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the play and the music. Best wishes, Richard Coughlan www.richardcoughlan.com -

THIS BASS IS NOW SOLD, thanks Hi guys I am selling my Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless 4 string Bought this bass in around 2007. It has been fitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups (paid around 180 quid for the pair) I gigged with this bass usually a couple of times a week for the best part of 4 years, consequently it isn't the best cosmetic condition. I stress however the bass plays, and sounds (most importantly) great still - see the sound clips below. To outline the cosmetic faults, here are a series of pictures: Wonky tuning peg on E string (still works as if it were new) Bottom strap button kept falling out (as happens on all Fenders, eventually I just drilled a new hole and fitted the button properly, this new button is going nowhere!) Major belt rash, scratches and 2 areas of chipped paint (who's going to be looking at the back of your bass?) Slight damage to rear of neck, but I barely notice it, actually works worse in picture than real life Missing ferrule....(I use a washer between the string and wood, does the job just as well So this is an authentic road worn bass! As I've said not in the prettiest of conditions (although the front still looks great). But it plays great, and makes the right sounds. SOUNDCLIPS Here are a couple of (very) rough soundclips I just bodged together They were recorded DIRECT into logic (NO EQ, PRESETS, COMPRESSION etc - just bass>mac) Guessing if you're playing fretless you want to be able to do 2 different things: Funky jaco (bridge pickup) sound: fretless clip 1 Quasi-upright walking sound: fretless clip 2 ...and if you really want to.. fretless clip 3 (yer that clip does have chorus and a bit of reverb on, the others are completely dry though) These basses are around £1200 new, has £180 worth of upgraded pickups.. but I understand its not in the best cosmetic condition, consequently I'd like £545 for it. I'll throw in a molded fender hard case too for FREE! The bass is in Rochester, Kent. However I'm in central london most nights so can arrange to have the bass in town if you want to check it out. Collection from Rochester/London or can arrange P&P at buyers expense Any questions please ask, Best Rich Coughlan
