3.
This from the GBBL website... Fortunately it seems to have sold...
Hi, Drew at GBBL has commissioned me to build another one similar to this, should be finished by the end of summer
4. Just to let you know, Everson guitars will be at the show - I'm piggy backing on the Promenade Music stand and will likely have four or five instruments. Paul.
5. Hi there - just a note about the above bass for sale - the pickup is actually an EMG 35P ( unless it's been changed of course) and the bridge is a Hipshot model. Cheers. Paul
6. Ah ok - the bass could live without that - if memory serves it's not glued or screwed down - but I can make a new one if needed Paul
7. Hi all Just to say that whoever buys the bass if they post me the split surround ( sounds like it's the scratch plate) then I'll repair it free of charge - get in touch here or email me on [email protected] Bargain at £450 btw - almost tempted to buy it back myself - if anyone wants any further info on the Bass drop me a line, I think I may even have some in construction pics somewhere Regards Paul
8. I'm similar actually, my own bass is a fair bit tighter. Feel free to email me with a specification and I'll work you out a quote Cheers Paul
9. hi there, it's 19mm. Paul PS. I'm at the Leeds guitar show on the 9th Sept - very pregnant wife willing, and I'll have the bass with me if anyone is coming and wants to try it..(assuming I haven't sold it by then)
10. Hello simes, thanks for the kind words - I've just posted a video of the bass you mention in your post, thought you may like to see it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j9VYMJcZF0&feature=youtu.be You'll also find some pictures and more info if you find the bass on ebay. Cheers Paul
11. Hi The bass on the site was the first bass I tried using cherry - it works really well as a body wood and I'm planning to use it more- It's similar to walnut in density and working characteristics and a nice alternative to ash if you're after a paler wood. Oh and the 4lb claim on that page is a mistake, not quite that light but it was under 8lb! Paul
12. Hi All You're quite right, 4lbs is a missprint, only just spotted the mistake myself. It is a very light bass though but I can't rememeber it's actual weight. Will ammend the site asap Paul
That is pretty amazing (if true) a boon to all the back sufferers - my Overwater perception comes in at 6.5lbs and its tiny At the other end of the scale(s) there is a Ricky 4030 hamburger on eBay and guy says its 14lbs!!! They Eversons do look cracking though. BB
13. Hi there A few months ago I posted the first of these new basses (in cherry with a maple board), here is the second - hot off the workbench. It features.. English Walnut body Maple neck with Rosewood board Kent Armstrong Circuit and Pickup ( Vol/Top/Mid/Bottom and 3 way Series/Parallel/Split switch ) Rosewood jack socket plate, head inlay and scratchplate( 3 ply scratchplate of rosewood, walnut, black stained sycamore), mahogany control cavity cover. MOP logo inlay and side dots 34" Scale 16" Radius 24 large frets including zero fret (graphtec nut) Deep Set Bolt-on neck Schaller Bridge and Kluson tuners Dunlop strap locks Finished in oil and wax Tone wise it's a more traditional sounding bass than some of my others, warm with strong mids, but with enough highs to give a good slap tone and a surprising range of sounds from the single humbucker via the coil options. This bass is for sale, do get in touch for more info all the best Paul
14. Just to let people know, the website is finished now, all the links should be working, including the for sale section and the blog - where you can find out whats new, basses in progress, and other tit bits Paul
15. Hi all Well I think the general consensus is people like it but not the jack socket - so 'think I'll take that onboard and shift it onto the side for the next one - which is, by the way, a single humbucker active version, RW board and walnut body ( my take on a MM if you like ). Should be at a similar price ( £750 - £800 ) will post some pics again when finished..do drop me a line if you are interested in owning either or, for that matter, a custom build ( happy to give a free quote if you send me a spec ) all the best Paul
16. Hi All Some interesting points there.. I favour a jack socket on the front mostly from struggling at gigs with putting plugged-in guitars on stands and also to avoid the million little scracthes you get around side mounted sockets because you can't see where it is and miss with the lead. But I understand it's not everyones cup of tea and I do offer side sockets as an option. The wooden scratch plate I know is not going to please everyone, I personally try to avoid plastic at all costs - but again a scractplate is an option and I tend to only use them on planer bodies for a bit more visual interest. The price for this bass, and it is for sale is £749 Paul
17. Here's a sneak preview of my latest bass before I put it onto the website. This is the first in a run of basses intended to be a lower cost alternative to my custom basses. By using a single body wood, passive electronics, non-angled head etc I'm able to build these much faster which means I can charge a good deal less. It's still a completly hand made, unique, instrument mind you and I can put on many features you just wouldnt see on a mass produced instrument ( wooden cover plates, MOP inlay etc ). Please let me know what you think, and If you want to try it out yourself then it'll be with me at the Manchester guitar show on Sunday ( 10th May ) All the best Paul
18. hi there - yes there are a few problems with the site, to be fixed soon I hope - Im better a building basses than websites!
19. Hi all, thanks for the welcome - new pic of the new basses coming soon P
20. Here are some shots of one of the new basses in progress Cherry body, all maple neck, rosewood trim inlaid on the headstock ( will have matching rosewood scratchplate, back plate and jack surround ) Using Rio Grande Jazz pickups ( only ever used their guitar pickups before but they are excellent so have high expectations! ) This isn't a commission, building it for this years trade shows and magazine reviews so if you are interesting in owning it drop me a line all the best Paul
21. Thanks happy jack, have managed to substitute the correct links now.
22. Hi My name's Paul Everson and I'm a bass ( and guitar ) builder as well as a gigging bass player. Please check out my site ( addy in my signature bit ) and do get in touch if you've any questions about my guitars etc. If you want to see the instruments in the flesh and try them out then I'm at the Manchester guitar show on Sun 10th May. Cheers
23. Hi there, yes the site is a work in progress and not all the links are working yet. As far as prices go the top end fancy custom basses are anywhere from £1000 to £1800, the Nouveau Walnut 4 is £1400 but I'm taking offers. The basses I'm currently making ( pics soon ) I'm calling my "simple" bass - they consists of a single wood body, maple neck with flat fender style headstock ( though still 2 aside tuners ), maple or rosewood boards and either passive J pickups or a single active humbucker and active circuit. Wooden scratchplates, jack plates and cavity covers and completely hand made..hoping to sell these from £750 depending on the spec.
24. Hi bubinga5 Glad you like them, the Tordoff bass was really interesting to make, you don't see many basses in Koa, and it's a shame because it is a lovely wood. Interesting sound too, I was expecting a fairly traditional Jazz bass tone, but the chambered mahogany body seems to have given it a real woodyness on top of that usual mid range growl.
