  1. Love it! I just snapped one up on ebay! 😁
  2. ...I dropped a clip of a hacky attempt at slap yesterday here:)
  3. Indeed! A very battered one but still very playable. I forget who I bought it from now...I'll have to look into old messages...I'm sure he had a story about it being thrown out an upstairs toilet window at a punk gig...amazingly it survived!
  4. Haha! Oh I'm also addicted to trying new basses over the years..many have come and gone (I'm on the verge of selling my vigier fretless delta metal to pay the mot and energy bills!) But this one is an old faithful workhorse, beautiful neck to play
  5. Cheers folks Here's my dusty old friend, I bought it from a fellow basschatter, ooh about 2008 I think?! Although anything over 5 years ago is fuzzy now! Haha
  6. As I get back into bass after a long injury break...here is my lovely bass, been through a lot!
  7. Hey folks, I couldn't play for many years after hurting my left hand...but its feeling food so my bass is back out the case! Here's my hacky hack slap n pop...got a long way to go! 20221026_140011_1.mp4
  8. And for those who may be interested...or just filling time! I plugged in this avo to try and get the dust off/ blow the cobwebs away! After I hurt my left hand I got back into music with my acoustic guitar, so my facebook is mostly covering my summer acoustic gigs I've just set up instagram, I'll post more clips as I try and remember how to play! 20221026_140011_1.mp4
  9. Excellent! Loving the info! ...curve ball before I take a pint ok zoom...what about Line 6? Also looks like a lot of functions for the money on an older live pod board?!
  10. Thanks again bassbods! I'm very tempted to take a punt on the b1x four now! A little bit of expression added in the mix! 😎
  11. Awesome info! Thanks folks! Looks like I'm going shopping 😁 To keep my motivation as I get back into playing, I'm thinking of keeping an online practice log 🤔 Feel free to join me on my journey! Any tips greatly appreciated!
  12. Just getting back into bass and know that recording gear has come on since the days of my yamaha mt4x cassette multi tracker!! What's a good (cheap and simple) way to record bass and sequences drums?!
  13. Right...thinking of getting a small multi effects pedal to dial in a few tones. Does anybody have experience with zoom pedals? Looks like a lot of pedal for the money! Where does the quality suffer?
  14. Morning folks! I used to play bass a lot many years ago but hurt my left hand in 2010 Getting back into it now and feeling ok so far...hopefully get some slap going again! 🤞
  15. Excellent basses, I've played one before. One of those that dont come up often and they're not being made anymore! Good luck, someone will snap up this excellent bass!
  16. Ah ha! Not surprising, looks great!
  17. Just spotted this one as well!!! http://www.californiamusic.fr/basses/4-cordes/vigier-arpege-trans-red-1980,produit_4395_fr.html
  18. Great to see such love for Vigier! I spotted a fretted arpege on ebay went for £1289 today!
  19. I'm originally a double bass player so I'd prefer unlined. When I'm playing bass guitar it's mostly slap so ideally I'm on the lookout for a fretted Vigier Arpege...maybe a 5 string...but I bet that's pretty rare?! 😮
  20. Thankyou! Helps a lot!!! Heres a few more pics. I've had it for ages but just haven't been playing, sadly I hope it doesn't come to it...but I may be having to sell!
  21. The answer may already be on here somewhere...but can anyone help with what the controls are on an old Arpege? And how the 2 jack sockets are used? Thankyou! 👍
  22. Very nice! I'm a proud owner of a Supernatural and remember saving the pennies for a long time! This looks like a great project for someone to get an amazing bass at an amazing price! good luck!
  23. So tempted but so poor! I have a 4 string Arpege Delta-metal and am a big fan of Vigier, great price for a 5 string, I haven't seen many of those!
  24. So I’ve been watching this thread and fancy telling a little story (now that a sales gone through I hope that’s ok). Let’s begin with a laughable comment…I see basses as my friends, yes I have human friends too. But I spend so much time with my basses that I know if I treat them right they will be good to me When I purchase a new one for the gang I’m thankful for the previous owner trusting me to take on the responsibility and also hope when I pass mine on they are going to a new home where they will be treated with the TLC they deserve. I once had a Peavey T40, nabbed it at a steal of a price, and when tough times came and I had to move the fella on I listed it for the same price and was told I was bonkers for not selling it for more. The eventual buyer was actually on ebay and left the feedback: “Very noble quality! Delivery was splendorous. Seller is matchless and admirable.” Best feedback ever! (I actually made quite a loss after fees and shipping insurance!) But of course there are price fluctuations, guitars come in and out of fashion, sometimes you have to settle for less, sometimes the prices soar, but like many things in life it’s swings and roundabouts. I have certainly paid more than a bass was worth in the past…because I bonded with it so well I just had to have it. And for those that do need the TLC, restoring a bass to its former glory is satisfying and rewarding…and of course must be reflected in the value, so long as you do a good job. Of all the premium basses I have played I keep returning to my workhorse. A Japanese Jazz bass from the late 70's (ish at a guess). Short scale in a deep red wood stain. Bought for £10 in Cash Converters in 1994 because the electrics didn't work. I kitted it out with a Music Man replacement DiMarzio Humbucker, armed with a soldering iron from GCSE electronics that bad boy has become my old faithful. When I teach I like to use it as a nice message…you don’t need an expensive bass to be a great bass player…spend less time dreaming about what guitar to buy and get practicing! On that note, my final statement…. Anybody got a 1979 sabre for sale?
