1.
another +1 on the Yamaha TRB 5 I had a warwick thumb 5 for a while and the string spacing was to close for me, the Yamaha was instantly playable for me. Plus they're great basses and you can get them dirt cheap!
Yeah I had a Thumb 6 and the spacing was a little tight. Yamaha is the winner for me too
 2. I had a Streamer Stage 1 6 string and the neck was huge, a bit too big for me. I currently play a Yamaha TRB 6 with 18mm and it is just perfect, the Streamer I believe is 20mm. A good friend of mine is actually selling a Streamer Stage 1 5 string. Do you want me to find out more details for you? If so, PM me. Good luck and take care. Cheers, Matt

 6. Thank you my friend. I would be looking at £500 for the GK 1001RB II-210 and £150 for the 410 cab. Hope that helps and please make me an offer. I want to move these on. Take care. Cheers, Matt
 7. BUMP If anyone doesn't want the whole rig and wants to split it, then that is fine by me. Make me an offer. Take care. Cheers, Matt
 8. Hi all and I hope you are well? I am now selling my 18 month old Gallien Krueger 1001RB II-210 combo (1000 watts of pure power) and Gallien Krueger BLX 410 cab (400watts). They are in absolutely immaculate condition and come with the respective, on-the-road protective covers, which are very hardy and durable. The reason for the sale is simple, I am looking for either a separate amp head and a single 6x10 cab. This set up is wonderful, extremely powerful and very versatile. The beauty of these separates is that for smaller gigs, the combo is easy and portable and of course for bigger gigs, the 4x10 will give you that something extra for such a show. I bought these for that very reason as, at the time, I was possibly going to be doing some cover band gigs with some mates, so to have a full 6x10 cab etc. in a pub environment was impractical for obvious reasons. Therefore, I thought if I had a very powerful combo and a separate cab then I would be covered for both the covers band - combo only and my main job where I play on bigger stages, thus the extra cab for the extra head room and spread. But the covers band fell through and I really want a separate head and 6x10 set-up. I bought both amp and cab from The Bass Merchant back in May 2008. The 1001RB II-210 cost me £859.00 and the BLX 410 cab for £249.00. The 1001RB II-210 is now no longer available in combo format, they only do the 700RB II-210 combo now. Here are the tech specs - GK 1001RBII 210 combo The Artist Series RB combos put full-featured Artist Series heads into professional combo enclosures in a variety of speaker options. All are designed for easy transport, ruggedness, compact size, tilt-back use, and to deliver the warm tone and output that leads to exceptional musical performance. The 1001RB and 700RB are bi-amp units that come with horn-loaded enclosures and are able to drive horn-loaded cabinets from the Artist Series RBH cabinets. For pro-performance in any size venue, the Artist Series combos provide the best in bass sound and are priced to rank among the best values in bass gear. If you want to come and try these, then not a problem. I am looking for - £700.00 for both the combo and cab and covers (these were £40.00 each), which is a real steal for such a monster set-up. I would also look at trading these with any high quality and similar rated amp head and 6x10 cab. If there was a cash difference, then we can look at a possible deal as well. My ideal amps would be SWR, Eden, Mesa Boogie or anything of a similar ilk. Let me know and thanks for reading. Take care and hopefully speak soon. Cheers, Matt P.S. I still have the original boxes for both items as well.
 9. I could be very interested in this amp. I just have to sell my current GK 1001RBii Combo. If anyone is interested, let me know.
 10.
I've played Lozbass's Sei too and it is indeed what I would describe as a very polite-sounding bass; very pure and natural-sounding. I would imagine in its current format it wouldn't be the best bass for rock (I could be wrong), but unless you want a fairly/very aggressive sound I imagine that purity could sit very well in a track. Obviously it's difficult to describe these things as everybody perceives these things differently. Bear in mind even if you weren't happy with the pickups you could maybe swap them out for something else, or change the pre (assuming it has one; if not you could add one, or if it's the Schack you could change the settings. I'm sure Martin Petersen would be able to advise). One thing I will say is that I've had 3 Seis with Barts in and they've all sounded completely different, as you would expect from the different construction. They have all also sounded completely different to my Pedulla MVP, which also had Barts. Anyone who thinks that all basses with Barts in them sound the same can't be listening very hard or has very different ears to me. My current 5 isn't what I would call polite, it's actually very growly indeed. Loz's bass sounds very different to any of the ones I've had. I'm sure Loz can add a great deal to thoughts about the sound of the bass. I would suggest if you're interested that you try first and also discuss with Lozbass and Martin Petersen, but it's certainly a beautiful instrument.
Thank you so much. I understand that with any bass, depending on woods and construction, sounds will vary but I wanted to find out the general opinion on Barts. I am looking for that attack kind of sound being in a rock band and I drive my bass through an MXR M-80 DI pedal as well for that extra bit of dirt, so to speak. The pups and pre-amp on my Yamaha are gritty if they need to be and same with the MEC's on my Warwick, so "polite" sounding pups probably wouldn't be the way for me to go. If I am going to spend £1900.00 as well and I know this is 2nd hand, I really don't want to go down the route of changing electronics etc at that stage. I know Alex and Martin, so next time I pop up to London, I will definitely drop in and try this bass out, it looks exquisite Thanks again and speak soon. Take care. Cheers, Matt
 11. Hi Si, Thanks for that breakdown and especially because I am super interested in the single cut Sei bass Can you elaborate further for me what was lacking in the sound? I love the fact that it has a wide, flat neck, which is what I wanted to hear but the electronics bother me. I have never owned a bass with Barts in and to be honest, I haven't heard that many great reports about them, but if you could tell me you exact thoughts on the tonal range, I would appreciate that. Speak soon and take care. Cheers, Matt P.S. Do you reckon it os worth every penny of the £1900.00 price tag?
 12. Hi BC'ers, I hope all is well with you? I am primarily a 6 string bass player but recently I have GAS for a 5 string bass. The Musicman range has always caught my eye but I was wondering if any of you could help me with a few questions please. Firstly, what is the better bass, the Stingray or the Stirling and what are the differences between them? Secondly, I love a real flat fretboard - both my 6 strings have the flattest boards ever - as I am not really into the curved boards of Fender basses etc. Are the fret boards flat on these basses? Thanks for listening and hopefully hear back from some of you soon. Take care. Cheers, Matt

 16.
Phew.. Take that temptation way! Well hopefully you can post soon to say it's gone off to a nice home for a full life of stage work
Temptation could be back your way sir, let's see what happens But I do hope it does get used live as it is stunning. The gentleman looking at the bass certainly has great taste in basses so I am sure he will be using this a lot if he buys. Fingers crossed
 17. Hi all, just to let you know that the bass is currently on hold and could well be sold, so I will keep you posted if it falls through. Thanks for all your help, you have been brilliant. Take care and hopefully this is my last post on this thread Cheers, Matt
 18.
Arrgh, of course I sort of knew that would be the case, but one never knows. That nut width is too wide for me. I suppose I need a P with a Jazz neck or a later P with a B width neck. I think my dream of owning a P born in the same year as me is now properly over Sorry to waste your time Matt, but sincere thanks for the info.
You are not wasting my time mate, so no worries. Good luck with your hunt and take care. Cheers, Matt
 19.
Thanks Matt! Appreciated. Finally, would you kindly tell me the nut width please. Thanks agin, sorry to be a nuisance.
Hello mate, you are not being a nuisance honestly. The nut width is 1.75" (4.5cm). I hope that helps as well my friend and any more question then please feel to get in touch any time. Take care. Cheers, Matt
 20.
Hello Matt, Sorry if this sounds like a cheeky question. Is there a way of telling which year the body was made, since the person who applied the refinish did not bother to mask the neck socket? Also, what's the neck/socket fit like? Thanks mate. Nigel
Hi Nigel, Not a cheeky question at all. I have been reliably informed, by a few separate parties, that the body is the same year as the neck. The neck slots perfectly in and fits like a glove. I hope that helps my friend and take care. Cheers, Matt
 21.
Hi Matt, Have a free Monday bumpity bumpity for a beautiful bass! Plus just to let you know there is 1964 Precision/Jazz Bridge on that t'ebay at the moment - £220! sounds expensive to me, but what do I know? - but may help to make it more acceptable to the 'purist' brigade?? Good luck with sale - my numbers didn't come up this week, so it's back to feeling down the back of the furniture again! It's a gorgeous bass & if I find a bit more spare dosh, in the words of Arnie - 'I'll be back'! All the best, Tim. ps - 'green with envy'!!
Nice one Tim, appreciated sir and thanks for the info on the bridge as well. I will check it out. Take care and catch you soon. Cheers, Matt
 22. Unfortunately the sale of this bass fell through. So, here it is again folks. It truly is a stunning bass and does need a new home, so please don't let it is there for another 22 years. Hopefully speak to you soon and take care. Cheers, Matt
