I am genuinely gutted Andy but it's not doing what I need it to do. It is one of the finest basses I have ever played, seriously (plus it's a stunner) and I know I am going to regret it but I need the right bass for my gig and this isn't it I wish it was!!

I cannot believe this is happening to me, but I bought a beautiful Musicman Bongo 6 HH (in red) bass 3 weeks ago and totally fell in love with it. The feel, the looks and the sound but, it's not the sound that is right for my band and music. I have been playing Yamaha TRB6 basses for years but when the Bongo was launched I had to have one. I am now about to go on tour and have resorted back to my Yamaha but I don't want the Bongo sat around. I paid £1899.00 and will be looking for either -

1) A trade for a good condition Yamaha TRB6P (not a TRB6 JP) and small cash adjustment depending on the condition of the bass.

or

2) A trade for a good condition Yamaha TRB6 and cash adjustment.

or

3) £1450.00 straight cash deal.

I am absolutely gutted about this but I know what I need and this has to go. This bass has never been used in rehearsals or live or been out of the house and is in 100% new condition with Musicman case, which is also in immaculate condition.

Good afternoon all on this rather beautiful day. Well, the time was right, so I bought a Musicman Bongo 6 which I have been after for ages. It was my birthday Saturday and as a treat to myself, I bought the Bongo. Therefore, I am now slimming down my collection to make room for this. My main live bass is my black TRB6, which I will never sell, but the Yamaha TRB6 JP (series 1) has to go. I have never played it live, it has only ever been used in my studio. I am sorry to see it go, but I need 2 basses to take out live and the TRB6 JP is just too beautiful to risk damaging in a rock and roll band. Anyway, enough of my waffle. This is in beautiful condition and has recently been set up by my guitar tech, who is simply a genius. The action is quite low but not too low and plays like an absolute angel. I have a few pictures, which I have attached here, but if you want anymore, just let me know and I'll sort it out for you. The bass is currently in a flight case and I will sell that separately for £90.00 or, you can use your own case if you want. Was this the same bass that was on e-bay recently? It is a stunner for sure. Just a few questions if you don't mind?

1) is it still for sale?
2) what is the string spacing and scale length?
3) can the Roland GK-3 pick-up and interface be taken off and if so, what damage would there be?
4) would you sell the bass without the Roland stuff and if so, at what price? (I am not interested in the Roland stuff at all).

Yeah I had a Thumb 6 and the spacing was a little tight. Yamaha is the winner for me too

I had a Streamer Stage 1 6 string and the neck was huge, a bit too big for me. I currently play a Yamaha TRB 6 with 18mm and it is just perfect, the Streamer I believe is 20mm. A good friend of mine is actually selling a Streamer Stage 1 5 string. Do you want me to find out more details for you? If so, PM me. Good luck and take care.

Hi all and I hope you are well? I am now selling my 18 month old Gallien Krueger 1001RB II-210 combo (1000 watts of pure power) and Gallien Krueger BLX 410 cab (400watts). They are in absolutely immaculate condition and come with the respective, on-the-road protective covers, which are very hardy and durable. The reason for the sale is simple, I am looking for either a separate amp head and a single 6x10 cab. This set up is wonderful, extremely powerful and very versatile. The beauty of these separates is that for smaller gigs, the combo is easy and portable and of course for bigger gigs, the 4x10 will give you that something extra for such a show. I bought these for that very reason as, at the time, I was possibly going to be doing some cover band gigs with some mates, so to have a full 6x10 cab etc. in a pub environment was impractical for obvious reasons. Therefore, I thought if I had a very powerful combo and a separate cab then I would be covered for both the covers band - combo only and my main job where I play on bigger stages, thus the extra cab for the extra head room and spread. But the covers band fell through and I really want a separate head and 6x10 set-up.

I bought both amp and cab from The Bass Merchant back in May 2008. The 1001RB II-210 cost me £859.00 and the BLX 410 cab for £249.00. The 1001RB II-210 is now no longer available in combo format, they only do the 700RB II-210 combo now. Here are the tech specs -

Thank you so much. I understand that with any bass, depending on woods and construction, sounds will vary but I wanted to find out the general opinion on Barts. I am looking for that attack kind of sound being in a rock band and I drive my bass through an MXR M-80 DI pedal as well for that extra bit of dirt, so to speak. The pups and pre-amp on my Yamaha are gritty if they need to be and same with the MEC's on my Warwick, so "polite" sounding pups probably wouldn't be the way for me to go. If I am going to spend £1900.00 as well and I know this is 2nd hand, I really don't want to go down the route of changing electronics etc at that stage. I know Alex and Martin, so next time I pop up to London, I will definitely drop in and try this bass out, it looks exquisite

Thanks for that breakdown and especially because I am super interested in the single cut Sei bass Can you elaborate further for me what was lacking in the sound? I love the fact that it has a wide, flat neck, which is what I wanted to hear but the electronics bother me. I have never owned a bass with Barts in and to be honest, I haven't heard that many great reports about them, but if you could tell me you exact thoughts on the tonal range, I would appreciate that.

Hi BC'ers, I hope all is well with you? I am primarily a 6 string bass player but recently I have GAS for a 5 string bass. The Musicman range has always caught my eye but I was wondering if any of you could help me with a few questions please.

Firstly, what is the better bass, the Stingray or the Stirling and what are the differences between them?

Secondly, I love a real flat fretboard - both my 6 strings have the flattest boards ever - as I am not really into the curved boards of Fender basses etc. Are the fret boards flat on these basses?
