For my money I would just put the Elf in a cupboard to damp the fan noise.
I thought they were meant to go on the shelf.

Just how "Masterbuilt" can a Fender be?
Are the body & neck completely carved by hand with no CNC machinery used anywhere in the process? I somehow doubt it.
OK, materials may be top notch, but at the end of the day a fender is basically a wooden Meccano kit.
They certain don't require the level of skill that a high end acoustic or hollowbody electric would need.

Fairy nuff but there are gradations in the use of slap. On the one hand there's that horrible trebly, clanky sound, as heard on Korn 'songs' (for want of a better word) or high-speed, machine gun shredding (most YTers). I don't like these either. Then you've got the more groove based, deeper tones of Marcus Miller and Larry Graham.
Indeed. One of my favourite slap lines is Freddie Washington on Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots"
Simple line, great tone. A classic.

I like a nice bit of slap bass, but I had to stop watching after "What's up guys?"

Don't know how much room you've got at the "headstock" end but something like a velcro wrist weight might do the job.
Alternatively just use a grippier strap.

...some of these cheaper models are pretty damn good for the money and a fraction of the cost of their American sibling.
I picked up a very cheap (£125.00) secondhand Sterling SUB 4 a few months ago out of curiosity more than anything else & was really surprised by how good it was.
Very good quality, lovely neck & sounded really good too.
I honestly thought it was a better bass than the "proper" Musicman Stingray 5 I owned a while ago.

He's really bloody irritating, isn't he?

You wouldn't have thought there was all this great new music in rock and metal judging by the bands nominated for the Grammys...
Foo Fighters nominated yet again? Zzzz.
They're one of those bands (and there are quite a few) that everyone seems to love but just don't do anything for me.
I do have a lot of time for dave Grohl though, he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

It's amazing how easy it is to be wrong about something you were certain of...
I don't know about that, I'm 56 & I've yet to be wrong about anything.

Perfectly happy using either, just depends on the sound I'm going for.
