  1. I know this may seem to be a bit naughty, and I just wanted a bit of advice... I have always loved the mid 70s jazz look, primarily the headstock and a beaten up body with darkened laquer on the neck. Mmmmm... anyhoo.... I only really play 5 string so 4s never get used (trust me - I have had my share...) Anyway, I would like a fretless (which also wouldn't get much use) so I thought about getting a cheap fretless and dressing it up to look like a mid 70s beaten up jazz... I have recently bought 2 Harley Benton acoustic guitars for other gigs I do and with a bit of fettling, was astounded at the price point for the quality of guitar that you get! They will never win awards, but I recently changed my £500 freshman acoustic for a £70 HB one and I would put them side by side any day... That aside... I was looking at this: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_75fl_sb_vintage_series.htm Basically, strip it apart, road worn paint job ( I have a good plan on how to achieve this...) and I wanted to reshape the headstock to make it look like a fender and stick a cheeky 70s decal on it with some aged lacquer that I already have. Nobody would ever be fooled but I don't want to spend £2k+ to get a bass I would hardly ever use professionally... this would be a good compromise and a fun project to boot! So.... does anyone have on of these? Would a fender template like the ones here: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/bass-place/66934d1292895136-p-bass-headstock-template-bass-heads-1-pdf lay over the HB one so it could be reshaped or am I p***ing in the wind here? I was gonna take a punt anyway but thought I would ask before I did... Anyone else done this kind of thing?
  2. Freshman FA300D acoustic guitar in excellent condition. Comes with TKL tweed hard case. Cost over £500 a few years ago, it hasn't seen much use as I play bass mainly. Home and studio use only, in immaculate condition apart from one tiny nick in the back of the neck, not noticeable when playing. Lovely, mature full sound for a Dreadnaught guitar, cedar top with mahogany sides and back. Will have some new strings on it, any trial welcome. Can post - this can be negotiated. I do have boxes ready to go.
  3. 👍 Good stuff. I hope it serves you well as a spare for a spare! 😁
  4. Reduced to £44 posted - anyone?
  5. Shure SM58 in VGC as in pic - £2 posted.
  6. As described - in good condition and working order. The standard in studio headphones. These are the 400ohm versions tailored for studio use. No BT, wireless, or any of that palaver... just you and the headphones! Will include some brand new ear foam cups and covers as the existing ones look a bit tired.
  7. As described - working fine, few age related marks. £57 posted to your door. (SM57 is now sold - SM58 is available...)
  8. Thanks... meant to say this is boxed as as new. A great bit of kit for practice and gigs... and open to sensible offers!
  9. Hi all... EBS Microbass II in as new condition and very little use. Bought with a QSC K10.2 but I'm not gigging for the foreseeable so am going to recoup some cash for the time being. Great piece of kit - will be sad to see it go! £150 plus postage.
  10. Rui bought my Bacchus recently, very easy transaction and recommended all round. No issues at all posting to Portugal via UPS.
  11. Just received John's Sire V7 G2... packed well, posted quickly and as described! What's not to like! Deal with John in complete confidence - a recommended BC'er.
  12. Mustafunk bought my Xotic in a trade - very easy transaction and he sorted all shipping! Recommended BCer!
  13. Anyone fancy this? If not I may have to sell my foot or something on eBay...
  14. Thanks Andy... also of note, I had the chance to use scales at work to weigh the bass - 4.35kg - a smidge over 9lbs if anyone is interested...
  15. Something has come up and I need to sell. Offers are welcome although sale only.
  16. It's one of those situations of analysing differences between pups using frequency analysers and what not... Such minute differences... No apology necessary, I think you nailed it on the head!
  17. Looks about right - I'm with you on the stock pups... very typical jazz sound, lots of 'growl' as you say... I can imagine lots of 'sharp intake of breath' with what I am about to say, but I don't think I have never heard enough of a benefit to warrant the kind of money some pickups cost. It's a very subjective thing - I replaced my SR5 pup a few years ago with a bartolini version and I honestly don't think it brought anything to the sound that the original didn't have. A slight tonal difference yes, but not enough to really warrant the cost of changing it. I have a cheap Revelation fretless and the pups are so loud and toneful! Hardware is a bit naff but I was so surprised at the sound of cheap pups. I played a friends SUB SR4 and the output was huge and it had a typical SR sound. Anyway... Carl - stop rabbiting on!!
  18. Hi @TorVic I think that they would fit yes. It's difficult to be 100% accurate and without hesitation, as the measurements on the Aguilar website / link you posted seem to be in inches with a decimalised ending... Or am I being a bit stoopid?? For example, length of the Aguilar bridge is 4.100 - The bacchus is about 4 1/8" but with a cavity which is about 4 1/8"... the distance between screwholes is 1.920, the bacchus is about 1/16" under 2 inches... based on these, i think they would fit. Someone could correct me if I am wrong?
  19. I would have thought similar as the scale length is so close to a 34 but will check..
